For a player to be listed, he must be owned in 50 percent (or less) of Yahoo! leagues. The goal is to provide recommendations of players that have a greater chance of being available on your league's waiver wire. Of course, your league's size and settings could significantly impact whether these players (or better options) are available in your particular league(s).
With that said, here are some tight end waiver-wire options that I like heading into Week 13 (Yahoo! ownership in parenthesis):
[Note: Players listed below are sorted by my preference to add.]
1. Jonnu Smith, Tennessee Titans (20 percent)
Although he had just two targets on Monday Night Football, Smith turned those targets into two receptions for a season-high 61 yards and a touchdown. Scoring for the third time in four weeks, Smith has now finished as the weekly TE9, TE4, TE14 and TE5, respectively, over that stretch. Over those four games, he has a total of 13 catches for 183 yards and three touchdowns.
2. C.J. Uzomah, Cincinnati Bengals (26 percent)
Good news first: Uzomah led the Bengals with a season-high 13 targets on Sunday. Unfortunately, he turned less than half of them into receptions (six) for just 39 yards. With a plus matchup against the Broncos, who have allowed the ninth-most TE fantasy points this season, there's some streaming upside if A.J. Green continues to miss time.
3. Chris Herndon, New York Jets (8 percent)
Herndon set season highs with eight targets and seven receptions, which he converted into 57 receiving yards against the Patriots on Sunday. The rookie tight end now has either 50-plus yards and/or a touchdown in five of his past six games. While he has a couple of difficult matchups -- Tennessee and Buffalo in Weeks 13 and 14, respectively, the rookie should be owned in more than eight percent of Yahoo! leagues.
4. Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Rams (9 percent)
In the Week 11 shootout against the Chiefs, Everett had three catches for 49 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns. The second-year tight end has now scored three touchdowns in his past two games. While receiver Josh Reynolds will assume much of the void created by Cooper Kupp's injury, the team's tight ends -- Everett and Tyler Higbee -- could be more involved as well down the stretch.
5. Mo Alie-Cox, Indianapolis Colts (0 percent)
The Colts placed Jack Doyle (kidney) on Injured Reserve on Monday, which means Alie-Cox will be the team's TE2 to Eric Ebron. Given that Andrew Luck has thrown 18 touchdowns to the team's tight ends (and Alie-Cox has two of them in his past three games), he's a deep sleeper for those that stream tight ends.
