2018 Fantasy Football Projections: Seattle Seahawks

In addition to viewing our 2018 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

Below you will find our 2018 fantasy football projections for the Seattle Seahawks.

Russell Wilson529328386228.610.683.2449.32.12.7299.81
A top-three fantasy quarterback in three of the past four seasons, Wilson has rushed for 2,777 yards and 20 touchdowns in his six NFL seasons. But he's also averaged over 4,000 passing yards over the past three seasons and threw for a league-high 34 touchdowns in 2017. Despite his dual-threat abilities, Wilson has never missed an NFL game. So, in other words, he has tons of weekly upside with a solid floor.

Rashaad Penny226.9998.47.927.7227.10.71.2171.75
The Seahawks used the 27th overall pick on Penny, which (of course) virtually assures that he'll be the team's featured back. With good size (5-11, 220) and speed (4.46 forty), Penny could be used as a three-down back by the Seahawks.
Chris Carson73.6331.22.211.494.60.30.257.18
If it weren't for the Seahawks using their first-round pick on Penny, Carson would have plenty of breakout potential following an injury-shortened 2017 that saw him assume lead-back responsbilities early in the season.

PlayerRec.YardsTDRushYardsTDFLPoints
Doug Baldwin80.71045.17.31.32.900.2148.2
Falling just shy of the 1,000-yard mark last season, Baldwin has 247/3,188/29 over the past three seasons and has finished as the WR7, WR10 and WR13, respectively, in standard-scoring formats over the past three seasons.
Tyler Lockett52.9698.34.27.964.80.50.1110.31
Lockett played a full 16-game slate last season, but he was never himself although he's now 100 percent. With Paul Richardson in Washington (D.C.) and the uncertainty of what the Seahawks will get from Brandon Marshall, Lockett has breakout potential in 2018.
Brandon Marshall28285.62.80000.145.16
Marshall had a 109/1,502/14 season in 2015, but that feels so long ago. Signing a one-year deal with the Seahawks, Marshall isn't a lock to make the roster and (if he does) his fantasy outlook isn't all that appealing.

Ed Dickson32.24253.20000.161.5
With Jimmy Graham in Green Bay, Dickson signed a free-agent deal to replace him atop Seattle's depth chart. Graham had double-digit touchdowns last year and over 900 yards the year prior. Even so, expectations for Dickson, Nick Vannett or any of Seattle's tight ends are modest.

Except for 2012 (21st) and 2016 (14th), Rivers has finished as a top-12 fantasy quarterback in the eight of his past 10 NFL seasons. In addition, Rivers has thrown for at least 4,286 yards and 28 touchdowns in each of the past five seasons.

Melvin Gordon295.21180.88.965526.52.61.5236.73
Gordon has yet to average 4.0 yards per carry in a season, but last year he rushed for 1,105 yards and added 58 catches for 476 yards, all of which were career highs. And after not scoring on 217 touches as a rookie, MG3 has scored exactly 12 touchdowns in each of the past two seasons. Ex-Chargers HOFer LaDainian Tomlinson said "the first thing I thought about when Hunter [Henry] went down, is Melvin is going to have to become a weapon in the passing game. Hunter makes easy throws for Philip, easy first downs and easy red zone targets. Now somebody has to pick up that role, and that can be Melvin."

Keenan Allen110.21421.67.71.77.100.1188.87
Playing just eight games in 2015 and one game in 2016, Allen won the AP Comeback of the Year award as posted career numbers (102/1,393/6) in a healthy 16-game campaign. From Weeks 11 to 17, Allen was absolutely dominant with five 100-yard games during that seven-game span. No player had more receptions (58) or receiving yards (797) and only Antonio Brown (six) scored more touchdowns (five) than Allen over that stretch.
Tyrell Williams54.1854.84.90000.3114.28
With Allen out for virtually of 2016, Williams had a breakout season with 69 catches for 1,059 yards and seven touchdowns. With Allen healthy, Williams had 43/728/4 in 2017 — and that level of production is a more reasonable expectation assuming Allen plays a full season in 2018.
Mike Williams37.24914.50000.375.5
Using the No. 7 pick on the former Clemson wideout, the Chargers got only 11 catches for 95 yards from the rookie. Back in April, Williams said he's "100%" now and the big target (6-4, 218) could become especially productive as a red-zone weapon for the Chargers, who will be without tight ends Henry and (as of now, at least) Antonio Gates.
Travis Benjamin29.8470.838.655.90.20.471.07
Benjamin averaged 16.7 yards per catch last season and the speedster always has the potential for a big play. On the flip side, he had seven games with no or one reception in 2017.

2018 Fantasy Football Projections: New York Jets

In addition to viewing our 2018 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

Below you will find our 2018 fantasy football projections for the New York Jets.

Quarterbacks

PlayerAtt.Comp.YardsTDINTRushYardsTDFLPoints
Josh McCown338.7216.8243914.68.128.3101.92.83.5159.75
The ideal bridge quarterback, McCown will enter training camp as the starter and that should carry over to Week 1. McCown threw twice as many touchdowns (18) as interceptions (nine) last season and added five rushing scores. Before getting hurt in Week 14, McCown finished as a top-seven weekly fantasy quarterback in five of his previous seven starts. While he's not worth drafting in standard-sized leagues, he does have some appeal as a QB to stream.
Sam Darnold145.986.199254.416.256.71.62.561.15
Regardless of whether the Browns or Giants made a mistake by passing on Darnold, the Jets pounced on the opportunity to draft the top-rated quarterback prospect. At least to begin training camp, Darnold will begin third on the depth chart behind McCown and Teddy Bridgewater. Ultimately, I expect the 21-year-old quarterback to get a start or two, but he won't be fantasy-relevant in standard one-QB leagues in 2018.
Teddy Bridgewater36.5232631.40.9416.40.20.316.56

PlayerAtt.YardsTDRec.YardsTDFLPoints
Isaiah Crowell202858.54.816.8129.40.31.5126.39
Only 25 years old, Crowell signed a three-year deal in free agency with the Jets this offseason. With 850-plus rushing yards in each of the past two seasons, Crowell does not necessarily get an offensive upgrade with his new club.
Elijah McGuire54.5223.51.424.8223.21.51.758.67
Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News writes that McGuire is "expected to be Gang Green’s third-down back this season." And he passes along this quote from RBs coach Stump Mitchell: "I’ll tell you who I see Eli as — and he’s in the Hall of Fame. Eli has the skill set to be a LaDainian Tomlinson if he was given that opportunity. That’s not what presents itself to him at this particular point in time. But skill set, he can do it all. He can catch. He can run. He can run routes as a receiver. He just happens to be here … and I’m glad we got him."
Bilal Powell60.6260.61.823.5169.20.50.855.18
Powell carried the ball 178 times for 772 yards, both of which are career highs, but he only had five receptions in the team's final eight games. With the team signing Crowell to handle early-down touches and the team talking up Elijah McGuire, Powell's 2018 role is uncertain.

Robby Anderson55.9810.64.82.819.60.10.4111.62
While his legal matters may now be resolved, Anderson could face league discipline from his off-field issues. In terms of on-field production, he had a career season (63/941/7) and was especially productive from Weeks 7 to 13. During that six-game span, Anderson had 100-plus yards and/or a touchdown every week and posted a 31/525/6 line.
Jermaine Kearse47.7596.33.80000.282.03
Kearse either set or tied career highs across the board with 65 catches for 810 yards and five touchdowns to finish as fantasy's WR30 (WR26 in PPR) last season. It'd be unreasonable to expect a repeat performance, but nobody expected that production from him in 2017 either.
Quincy Enunwa40.1589.52.80000.175.55
Enunwa led the team in receiving in 2016 (58/857/4), but he missed all of 2017 with a neck injury. There's a chance that he leads the team in receiving in 2018 if he could stay healthy.
Terrelle Pryor35465.51.80000.157.15
Few players were a bigger fantasy disappointment in 2017. Putting up a 1,000-yard season in his first year as a full-time receiver with a poor quarterback situation, Pryor managed just 20/240/1 when playing with Kirk Cousins last season. Pryor blames last year's disappointment on his ankle, but his range of outcomes is incredibly wide.

PlayerAtt.Comp.YardsTDINTRushYardsTDFLPoints
Derek Carr541.8340.8373825.512.529.8790.33230.22
A disappointing season for both the team and Carr, he threw for 3,496 yards, 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 2017. Before last season, he threw for 3,900-plus yards in each of the previous two seasons with a total of 60 touchdowns. It will be interesting to see how Carr and new coach Jon Gruden work together, but Carr's numbers should be better in 2018 than they were last year.

Marshawn Lynch192.5818.16.722.2164.30.40.9139.04
After taking a year off, Lynch returned to the NFL and rushed for 891 yards and seven touchdowns and added 20 catches for 151 yards in 2017. Now 32 years old, there's the possibility that another Oakland native takes the role of lead back. That said, I still expect Beast Mode to lead the backfield in workload and production.
Doug Martin121.1436320.6177.20.40.880.12
Going into his seventh NFL season, Martin has been somewhat of a two-outcome type of player — two seasons of 16 games and 1,400-plus rushing yards and four seasons of five-plus missed games and sub-500 rushing yards. Perhaps he has an unprecedented (for him) season of 500 to 1,399 rushing yards, that number is most likely to be much closer to the lower end of that range.

Amari Cooper71.81012.46.51.66.400.2140.48
After beginning his career with back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, Cooper posted a disappointing 48/680/7 line over 14 games. Still only 24 years old, it's possible that Cooper bounces back and sets career highs with Michael Crabtree — the 1(b) to his 1(a) — now in Baltimore.
Jordy Nelson59.7704.57.20000.1113.45
Released by the Packers, Nelson had just 53 catches for 482 yards and six touchdowns in 2017. That said, he had 98/1,519/13 (2014) and 97/1,257/14 (2016) in his previous two full seasons. There's virtually no chance that he returns to the 90-catch, 1,200-yard mark he had in 2016, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he finished with eight-plus touchdowns, something that Michael Crabtree had done in each of the past three seasons in Oakland.
Martavis Bryant36.7554.24.40000.181.62
Suspended? Or not suspended? There is some uncertainty about whether Bryant will be available for the (start of the) 2018 season, but Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal wrote that "[t]he Raiders fear potential NFL discipline might be imminent" for Bryant.

In fact, Cook has just six touchdowns in 58 games over the past four seasons combined. Finishing as a top-12 fantasy tight in PPR formats (TE16 in standard-scoring leagues), Cook has top-10 upside with a little more red-zone success.

PlayerAtt.Comp.YardsTDINTRushYardsTDFLPoints
Jimmy Garoppolo586.8381.4446025.814.738.4711.21.5263.5
Starting Weeks 12 to 17, Garoppolo scored the 12th-most fantasy points (17th-most on a per-game basis, 14.5) during that stretch. His mediocre fantasy production was limited by the lack of touchdowns -- seven passing touchdowns in six games -- although he was efficient in terms of completion percentage (67.4) and yards per attempt (8.8). With a full offseason in Kyle Shanahan's offense and better/healthier weapons, there is plenty of upside in 2018.

Jerick McKinnon234.9974.86.656.9409.72.62.8188.05
Signed to a $30 million contract, McKinnon gets an opportunity to be a lead back for the first time in his career. Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee recently wrote: "The over/under on his catches for the season might be 73, the highest number that Devonta Freeman caught when Shanahan was coaching him with the Falcons." Running backs in Kyle Shanahan's offense typically flourish and McKinnon has a ton of upside this year.

Pierre Garcon74.1926.34.40000.1118.83
Garcon (neck) missed half the season and was on pace for an 80/1,000 season before the injury. His last full season (2013) playing in Kyle Shanahan's offense, he posted a career-best 113/1,346/5 stat line. Unlikely to repeat those numbers, a 1,000-yard season is certainly within reach.
Marquise Goodwin48.5785.72.43.832.30.10.196.6
Goodwin had the best season of his career with 56 catches for 962 yards and two touchdowns. Especially productive in the second half, Goodwin had a five-game stretch of 78-plus yards from Weeks 10 to 15 including three straight with 99-plus. With Garcon healthy, Goodwin would do well to repeat last year's numbers.
Trent Taylor41.4418.11.70000.351.41
Taylor had 43 catches for 430 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie, but the 49ers drafted Pettis in the second round and Garcon missed half the year.
Dante Pettis26.3294.61.30000.236.86
The 49ers traded up to 44th overall for Pettis and they seem to be "putting more on Pettis' plate than they typically would for a rookie."

2018 Fantasy Football Projections: New England Patriots

In addition to viewing our 2018 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

Below you will find our 2018 fantasy football projections for the New England Patriots.

PlayerAtt.Comp.YardsTDINTRushYardsTDFLPoints
Tom Brady592386479531.49.526.336.80.32.1299.68
Wanting to play until "cuarenta y cinco," Brady will turn 41 before the start of the 2018 season yet he has shown no signs of slowing down. That said, the Patriots traded away 1,000-yard receiver Brandin Cooks and trusted slot receiver Julian Edelman returns from a torn ACL but not until Week 5 due to a PED suspension. Finishing as fantasy's QB4, Brady threw for a league-high 4,577 yards in 2017. He remains a top-five fantasy QB with the upside to lead all players in fantasy points scored in 2018.

Rex Burkhead155.5668.77.837.2316.22.60.8159.29
Missing six games in his first season with the Patriots, Burkhead scored eight touchdowns as he rushed for 264 yards and added 30 catches for 254 yards. Even though Dion Lewis is now in Tennessee, the Patriots drafted Georgia's Sony Michel in the first round and there will still be plenty of week-to-week volatility in the production of New England's running backs. That said, I'd expect Burkhead to lead the backfield in touchdowns and we've seen LeGarrette Blount rush for 18 touchdowns only two seasons ago.
Sony Michel135.8651.84.119.7181.20.81.2110.3
Expectations would be through the roof for most running backs selected in the first round. For the Patriots, however, it's anyone's guess how the workload will be allocated in any given week. Given his draft pedigree (and talent, of course), Michel figures to be heavily involved more often than not and it wouldn't surprise me if he finished as the team's most productive fantasy back.
James White41.6172.60.851.4436.94.10.190.15
White hauled in 56 receptions for 429 yards and three touchdowns last season after posting a 60/551/5 receiving line in 2016. With Michel added to the mix, the Patriots have a versatile group of backs, but I'd expect White to get 50 receptions for a third consecutive season.

Chris Hogan61.3870.57.42.612.500.1132.5
Hogan played only one regular-season game (Week 14) in the second half of the season, but he posted a 33/438/5 slash line in his first eight games. During that span, he was the WR7 in standard-scoring formats with the 13th-most on a per-game basis. Based on his current ADP, he's being drafted as a high-end WR3 but there is a plenty of profit potential provided he stays healthy for a full season.
Julian Edelman82.9928.54.16.636.30.11.3120.28
Missing all of last season with a torn ACL, Edelman is appealing his four-game suspension for the start of this season. In 2016, Edelman had 98 catches for a career-high 1,106 yards and three touchdowns. With Brandin Cooks traded to the Rams, Edelman figures to be peppered with targets when he is on the field. It wouldn't surprise me if Edelman set career highs across the board on a per-game basis.

There was plenty of drama about Gronk's status this offseason, but it's "likely" that he gets a re-worked contract in some way. Aside from his eight-game 2016 season, Gronk has 1,000-plus yards in three of the past four years and he has scored double-digit touchdowns in five seasons over his career.

2018 Fantasy Football Projections: Minnesota Vikings

In addition to viewing our 2018 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

Below you will find our 2018 fantasy football projections for the Minnesota Vikings.

Kirk Cousins531339.8398324.411.738.1110.53.83.8259.77
Finishing as fantasy's QB8, QB5 and QB7 over the past three seasons, respectively, Cousins has thrown for 4,000-plus yards and 25-plus touchdowns in each of those seasons. In addition, he has rushed for at least four scores in three consecutive seasons. Now playing for a Super Bowl contender and a defensive-minded head coach, Cousins may not put up the same level of production he had in Washington, but he remains a top-10 fantasy option as he switches teams.

Dalvin Cook289.61303.210.435.62991.11.5226.22
Unfortunately, Cook's rookie season ended prematurely due to an ACL tear. The Florida State product carried the ball 74 times for 354 yards (4.78 YPC) and two touchdowns in his four NFL games played. In addition, he added 11 catches for 90 yards. If he's able to stay healthy in 2018, Cook is poised for a monster workload with the potential to finish as a top-five fantasy back.

Adam Thielen86.512115.21.515.301.7150.43
Thielen has only 10 touchdowns in his four NFL seasons, but the former UDFA built upon his breakout 2016 season to lead the team in targets (142), receptions (91) and receiving yards (1,276). Only four receivers had more yards than Thielen last season.
Stefon Diggs75.1983.87.56.422.40.10.1146.02
With 20 fewer receptions year over year, Diggs finished 2017 with 64 catches for 849 yards and a career-high eight touchdowns. Diggs has missed multiple games in each of his three NFL seasons, but he could improve upon his WR18 (WR19 in PPR) season if he's able to stay healthy for a full season.

Kyle Rudolph65630.57.80000.1109.65
Rudolph's targets dropped year over year (132 to 81), but he still finished as fantasy's TE6 (TE8 in PPR) in 2017. He posted a 57/532/8 stat line last season and those numbers form a reasonable expectation for the upcoming season.

2018 Fantasy Football Projections: Miami Dolphins

In addition to viewing our 2018 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

Below you will find our 2018 fantasy football projections for the Miami Dolphins.

Quarterbacks

PlayerAtt.Comp.YardsTDINTRushYardsTDFLPoints
Ryan Tannehill532348.5393723.415.437.8162.51.12.9237.33
Missing 19 games over the past two seasons including all of 2017, Tannehill (ACL) has been fully cleared. Now that Jarvis Landry is in Cleveland and given that DeVante Parker has generally underperformed compared to expectations, Miami is far from being loaded with weapons. That said, the volume could be there for Tannehill to be a productive QB2, if healthy, as the Dolphins were one of four teams to throw it 600-plus times last season.

Kenyan Drake166.37655.336.6270.81.81.6142.98
Over the final five games of the 2017 season, Drake ran for a league-high 444 yards on 91 carries (4.88 YPC) with two touchdowns and added 17 receptions for 150 yards. Adding future HOFer Frank Gore to the running back room with rookie Kalen Ballage likely means that Drake won't see his December workload (21.6 touches per game) carry over into the 2018 season even though he's likely to be the team's most productive back.
Frank Gore113.4436.63.4201561.60.588.26
Returning home to Miami, the 35-year-old Gore has been incredibly durable -- seven consecutive 16-game seasons -- and remarkably consistent. Gore has finished as a top-20 fantasy running back every season except for his rookie campaign although he has averaged less than 4.0 YPC in each of the past three seasons. Forming a committee -- and perhaps not getting the largest share -- with Kenyan Drake and rookie Kalen Ballage, Gore may fail to average 15-plus carries per game for the first time since his rookie season.
Kalen Ballage52.9222.21.121.5182.81.71.554.3
The 229-pound rookie out of Arizona State has impressed the coaching staff during the offseason workouts, but he figures to be third in line for touches behind both Drake and Gore.

DeVante Parker63.9849.94.80000.3113.19
I've been (too) high on Parker in his young career only to be disappointed. So, perhaps I'm a bit gun-shy and am too cautious in my outlook for Parker this year. He appears to be doing the right things as Joe Schad notes: "Dolphins coaches say few if any players have spent more time in the building than Parker since last season ended." Given that Jarvis Landry and his 570 targets over the past four years are no longer on the roster, the 25-year-old Parker has loads of upside if he's able to put it all together this season.
Kenny Stills49.6783.75.50000.5110.37
Over the past two seasons, Stills has 100 catches for 1,573 yards and 15 touchdowns and he's finished as a top-30 receiver in standard-scoring formats both seasons. There may be some game-to-game volatility, but there is a strong chance that he outperforms his current ADP.
Albert Wilson41.3532.82.50000.267.88
Wilson set career highs (42/554/3) across the board last season. With Jarvis Landry gone, there could be a significant opportunity to post even better numbers and Wilson has impressed the coaching staff in offseason workouts.
Danny Amendola45.6487.91.80000.358.99
With 60-plus catches in two of the past three seasons with the Patriots, Amendola could post a similar total (or even more) with Landry no longer in Miami although he'll compete with Albert Wilson for snaps in the slot.

Mike Gesicki30.1376.33.30000.556.43
Freakishly athletic, Gesicki has rare physical tools: 6-foot-5, 247 pounds, 4.54 forty, 41.5-inch vertical and 6.76 3-cone. Moreover, there is little competition atop the depth chart at tight end so Gesicki has a chance to make an immediate impact as a rookie. That said, rookie tight ends historically struggle to produce fantasy-relevant numbers.
