The Athletic -- Rank: 19
What we learned: They need to find a way to stay afloat. The schedule-makers did them no favors. The Texans opened at Kansas City before facing the Ravens in Week 2. Now they travel to Pittsburgh. The schedule after their Week 8 bye is much more forgiving. I have plenty of doubts about this Texans team with new play-callers on each side of the ball and no DeAndre Hopkins. They looked completely out-manned in their 33-16 loss to Baltimore. But the AFC South is unlikely to have a team run away with the division. If the Texans can figure some things out and go into their bye at 3-4, they'll have time to make a playoff run in the second half of the season. Having said that, it's tough to find much to be encouraged about with the Texans through two weeks.

At 0-2, they are staring another tough game in the face this week when they play the Steelers on the road. The worst part is they haven't looked good in either game.
USA Today -- Rank: 22
If you thought Houston's O-line had been tightened ... welp. QB Deshaun Watson suffered a career-high 13 hits Sunday. That can't happen.

Under-the-radar fantasy standout: TE Jordan Akins
After catching a Week 1 touchdown at Kansas City, Akins led Houston pass-catchers with seven receptions against the Ravens and was second to only Brandin Cooks in targets. Tight end Darren Fells, who scored the Texans' lone touchdown in Week 2, also will be involved in the offense, especially in the red zone. But Akins is showing the potential to emerge as Houston's No. 1 tight end as the season goes on. -- Sarah Barshop

Lopsided losses to the Chiefs and Ravens tell us the Texans are not even in the conversation of AFC contenders right now. Houston was barely competitive against Baltimore, pounded in every aspect of the game in a 33-16 defeat. Here's one problem of many: Deshaun Watson looks like a star QB adrift without DeAndre Hopkins. Will Fuller, the fifth-year wide receiver expected to step into the No. 1 role vacated by Hopkins, finished without a catch (or a target!) against the Ravens. Is that on Fuller? Bill O'Brien? In reality, it's probably a combination of both. Up next for Houston is a trip to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers, the third of the unholy terrors in the AFC. The schedule-makers owe the Texans a huge solid in 2021.
