Chicago Bears Week 10 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2020 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Here is where the Chicago Bears rank in terms of average, best and worst:

  • Average ranking: 15.4 (T-16th)
  • Best ranking: 15th (ESPN)
  • Worst ranking: 17th (Multiple)

Below you will find a Week 10 roundup for the Bears in our consensus 2020 NFL Power Rankings.

The Athletic -- Rank: 17

Two sequences stand out from their loss to the Titans:
  1. They executed a brilliant fake punt in the second, then ran the ball three straight times before punting on fourth-and-2 from the Tennessee 45.
  2. They set up to go for it on fourth-and-1 from the Tennessee 31 in the third but had a false start. They decided to still go for it on fourth-and-5 but had another false start. They then punted on fourth-and-10.
The personnel isn't great, but Matt Nagy has shown no signs of being able to maximize the talent he does have. It's a shame because their defense played well once again.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 16

They have crashed back to reality after the fast start. The offense struggled for most of the Tennessee game against a bad defense, which is an indictment of this offense.

USA Today -- Rank: 16

Stat sheet shows Mitchell Trubisky with a 3-0 record as Chicago's starting QB in 2020, while Nick Foles is now 2-4. Switch might make sense ... if Trubisky's shoulder wasn't bothering him.

ESPN -- Rank: 15

Recalibrated expectation: To sneak into the playoffs

The Bears are in free fall after losing three straight. The offense is an unmitigated disaster. Chicago ranks near the bottom in most important offensive categories, and help is nowhere on the horizon. Still, the Bears have five games left against teams that are below .500: Minnesota (twice), Detroit, Houston and Jacksonville. There's a chance the Bears could ride the coattails of their defense and sneak into the postseason at 9-7. That would be best-case scenario for a team trending in the wrong direction. -- Jeff Dickerson

NFL.com -- Rank: 17

The Bears lack juice. There are many different factors that make it so, but the bottom line is indisputable. We saw it again in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Titans, Chicago's third consecutive defeat after the mirage of a 5-1 start. The culprit in Nashville was, once again, the offense. The Bears had only three combined points on their first five drives that reached Titans territory, and they did nearly all their scoring in the safe space of garbage time. Mitch Trubisky's shoulder injury means Nick Foles will continue to start while Matt Nagy ponders whether to give up play-calling. This all seems to be headed in a certain direction.
