Week 13 Fantasy Football TE Waiver Wire Rankings

Every week, we examine players that may be available on your league's waiver wire that could help your team in the short and/or long term.

For a player to be listed, he must be owned in 50 percent (or less) of Yahoo! leagues. The goal is to provide recommendations of players that have a greater chance of being available on your league's waiver wire. Of course, your league's size and settings could significantly impact whether these players (or better options) are available in your particular league(s).

With that said, here are some tight end waiver-wire options to consider heading into Week 13 (Yahoo! % rostered in parenthesis):

[Note: Players listed below are sorted by our preference to add.]

1. Logan Thomas, Washington Football Team (41%)

Against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, Thomas did a little bit of everything. The former Virginia Tech collegiate quarterback completed a 28-yard pass, had a three-yard rush attempt and caught all four of his targets for 20 yards and a touchdown. With one game to go (on Wednesday afternoon!), Thomas currently sits at TE8 on the week.

Over his past six games, Thomas has finished as a top-10 fantasy tight end four times.

In 11 games this season, Thomas has a minimum of four targets in all 11 games. While four targets may not seem like a lot and may be an arbitrary threhold, there are only three tight ends that have four targets in 11 games this season -- T.J. Hockenson, Darren Waller and Thomas. Only two more -- Travis Kelce and Dalton Schultz -- have at least 10 such games.

One near-term challenge for Thomas will be that Washington's next two opponents are the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers. So far this season, they are the two stingiest defenses to fantasy tight ends.

2. Kyle Rudolph, Minnesota Vikings (15%)

With Irv Smith and Adam Thielen sidelined, Rudolph set season highs with seven catches, 68 yards on eight targets against the Carolina Panthers in Week 12. If Smith remains sidelined another week, that will put Rudolph on the TE1/TE2 border once again.

The Vikings have a favorable matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 13. Through Sunday's games, only the Seattle Seahawks (14.74) have allowed more yards per reception to tight ends than the Jaguars (13.2), who have surrendered the most touchdowns (nine, tied with NYJ) and TD% (20.0%) to the position this season.

3. Trey Burton, Indianapolis Colts (19%)

Even though Burton currently ranks 20th in fantasy points scored this season, the Colts like to target their tight ends and Burton's been more involved and productive lately. On a per-team basis, Colts tight ends rank sixth in fantasy points scored (half-PPR scoring) and top 10 across the board in receptions (57, T-9th), yards (655, 8th) and touchdowns (eight, T-3rd).

Burton had three catches for 42 yards and a touchdown on six targets against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Burton's six targets tied his season high and he's now scored in back-to-back weeks.
