The following are picks in recent mock drafts for the Colts:
EDSFootball - Kevin Hanson (1/15)
21. Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas
While the Colts have one of the NFL's best offensive lines, long-time starting left tackle Anthony Costanzo has recently announced his retirement, which creates a big hole on the line. While Cosmi has experience at both right tackle (2018) and left tackle (2019 and 2020), the athletic tackle prospect can slide in to the vacancy created by Costanzo's departure.
San Diego Union Tribune - Eddie Brown (1/13)
21. Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State
A wild-card loss to the Bills could have been
Philip Rivers final game and
Jacoby Brissett is scheduled to be a free agent. A showcase game against Central Arkansas didn't really do Lance's draft stock any favors, but there's too much arm talent and playmaking ability to deny here. The measurables check every box.
CBS Sports - Chris Trapasso (1/13)
21. Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern
Another team that may be in the quarterback market this offseason suddenly needs a left tackle after news hit of Anthony Costanzo's retirement.
The Athletic - Dane Brugler (1/12)
21. Tyson Campbell, CB, Georgia
One of the most intriguing defensive prospects in the draft, Campbell, who was high school teammates with Surtain, doesn't always play confident, but his size and athleticism are first-round worthy. At 6-foot-2, he has outstanding length and moves like a much smaller player.
The Draft Network - Joe Marino (1/7)
22. Eric Stokes, CB, Georgia
The Colts received excellent play from
Xavier Rhodes this season, but he certainly isn't getting any younger. Stokes is a rangy, long, and fluid cover corner with good ball skills and upside in both man and zone coverage.
ESPN - Todd McShay (1/7)
21. Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
A fifth quarterback! Only once in the common draft era have five QBs been drafted in the first 21 picks: 1999, when
Tim Couch led a pack of five in the opening 12 selections. The top end of this signal-caller class is special, and the Colts are squarely in the mix for one of them, with 39-year-old Philip Rivers finishing up his one-year deal. Jacob Eason is the only name on the Colts' 2021 QB depth chart at the moment. Jones puts excellent placement on deep balls, anticipates well and shows poise in the pocket. His 4,036 yards and 36 touchdown passes both ranked second in the nation this season.
USA Today - Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz (1/5)
22. Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
Unless Indianapolis opts to move on from Philip Rivers in favor of a long-term option at quarterback, the Colts can instead bolster their already formidable defense with the pesky Horn.
Athlon Sports - Bryan Fisher (1/5)
22. Azeez Ojulari, EDGE, Georgia
Defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus has done a good enough job overcoming injuries and navigating an aging group of players rushing the passer but the team would be wise to look for an upgrade off the edge. A fast riser this past year, Ojulari would continue to fill out the Colts' front seven while bringing a bit more juice to the pass rush after living in the backfield in 2020.
