Most important remaining game: Dec. 19 vs. Texans

The Jaguars looked awful in a season-opening loss at Houston, a team that was generally regarded as the worst in the NFL heading into the season. They couldn't line up correctly, had too many men on the field and played sloppy. That remains the Texans' only victory. The Jaguars have to beat Houston to show that they -- Urban Meyer and QB Trevor Lawrence, especially -- have made significant progress since September. -- Mike DiRocco

Urban Meyer didn't get a win on Sunday in Indianapolis, but the first-year NFL coach provided more evidence he has stabilized the operation after the self-immolation that marked the early portion of his rookie season. Jacksonville fell behind 17-0 against the Colts but fought back and was in position to potentially win the game before Trevor Lawrence lost a fumble in the final minutes. Led by Josh Allen, Jacksonville's defense is showing signs of improvement, but Meyer and the Jags braintrust must devote significant resources to adding pieces around Lawrence in the offseason. The rookie too often seems to be on an island.

They've made big strides on defense, which is a good sign for next year. The offense simply lacks playmakers, and that can't be fixed this season.

USA Today -- Rank: 28

How about return man extraordinaire Jamal Agnew reinventing himself as Cordarrelle Patterson-lite. Agnew has 21 catches after totaling 16 during four years in Detroit and threw in a 66-yard TD run Sunday. Weapon X.

Steal a player: Kevin Byard, Titans safety

The Jaguars are last in turnovers, with only five in nine games. Byard alone has five interceptions, the most among all safeties this season, and he's also a respected leader for the Titans off the field. A young, struggling team like the Jaguars could certainly use a presence like that.
