  • Best ranking: 14 (ESPN)
  • Worst ranking: 17 (CBS Sports)

Below you will find a Week 12 roundup for the 49ers in our consensus 2021 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 14

Most vibrant Thanksgiving memory: 49ers throttle the Cowboys 31-10 on Nov. 23, 1972

The 49ers have played on Thanksgiving only five times, but any win over the Cowboys in such convincing fashion leaves a lasting memory. It was especially memorable for a young quarterback named Steve Spurrier, who had stepped in for an injured John Brodie the week before in a win at Chicago and then followed by helming a victory against rival Dallas. "We went down there and practiced at some high school somewhere, and we actually beat the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day," Spurrier said. "That was a good road trip for the 49ers." The Niners went on to win the division, but the Cowboys got their revenge with a 30-28 victory in the NFC divisional round. -- Nick Wagoner

NFL.com -- Rank: 16

The 49ers are on the rise. Jimmy Garoppolo threw two touchdown passes for the third consecutive game, and Kyle Shanahan's creative use of do-it-all star Deebo Samuel produced another touchdown in a 30-10 win over the Jaguars. San Francisco has now won back-to-back games in decisive fashion, setting up a huge Week 12 showdown with the surging Vikings. The Niners remain deadly in the red zone: Their 77.8 percent TD conversion mark leads the NFL by a significant margin. Ironically, San Fran's most memorable drive on Sunday -- a 20-play, 13-minute marathon -- ended with a piddly field goal. "I wanted to go for it bad," Shanahan said. According to ESPN, it was the longest drive in 20 years.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 17

They've won two straight to get back on track as a possible playoff team. The schedule is brutal down the stretch, but they are playing much better.

USA Today -- Rank: 16

They're lying in weeds after beating the Rams on a Monday night before securing win in Jacksonville despite a 1 p.m. ET kickoff and a cross-country flight during short week. Sunday's home date with Minnesota could have major playoff ramifications.

The Athletic -- Rank: 15

Best side dish: Can we say the head coach? Kyle Shanahan quietly has the 49ers rolling with a passing attack that ranks as one of the most efficient in the league. San Francisco ranks seventh in EPA per play on dropbacks and Jimmy Garoppolo ranks No. 4 in the composite stat of EPA plus completion percentage over expected. The Niners had a tough stretch early in the season but have won three of their last four and now prepare to welcome the Vikings in a game that could have huge implications in the NFC's wild-card race.
