ESPN -- Rank: 21
Biggest Achilles' heel: Not having QB Russell Wilson
On Sunday, Geno Smith played his best game since Wilson went down in Week 5 with his finger injury. But when Smith replaced Wilson in that game and in his next two starts, Seattle's offense only functioned in spurts and didn't have the finishing touch it has under Wilson. Smith and the Seahawks were dominant against the one-win Jaguars, but with tougher games ahead -- at Green Bay following this week's bye, then at home vs. Arizona -- the Seahawks will have to be better finishers than they've been so far. And with no guarantee that Wilson will be back for the Packers game, they might need Smith at quarterback. -- Brady Henderson

Geno Smith began his Sunday with 14 straight completions and two touchdown passes in an eventual blowout of the lowly Jaguars, but let's not get it twisted. The Seahawks desperately need Russell Wilson back on the field if they want to re-enter the NFC playoff picture in a legitimate manner. Monday brought progress on that front: Wilson revealed via social media that the pin used to stabilize his fractured middle finger has been removed. It's a sign Wilson's recovery is on schedule, and the hope is that the franchise star is back in action when the Seahawks return from their bye in Week 10.
CBS Sports -- Rank: 21
That was a season-saving victory over the Jaguars. Now they get a bye and might get Russell Wilson back after that.
USA Today -- Rank: 18
The update on injured QB Russell Wilson? Per Russ himself, "No more pin. Time to Win." Update on the schedule? Seattle enters its bye week -- good timing for Wilson -- but heads to Lambeau Field on the other side. Tough place to win, pin or no.
The Athletic -- Rank: 21
How's the head coach? The biggest winner during Sunday's Seahawks-Jaguars game was Pete Carroll's gum. No chomping required, finally, in Seattle's most drama-free game of the season. But big questions await Carroll and the Seahawks after the bye, starting with Russell Wilson's status. Back-to-back games against NFC contenders Green Bay and Arizona could determine whether Seattle can climb back into the wild-card race.
