New York Giants Post-Draft 2023 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a post-draft roundup for the New York Giants in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 17

Most improved: Receiver

I don't mean just wide receiver, I'm also talking about tight end. The Giants greatly improved their receiving corps with the addition of Darren Waller at tight end and Parris Campbell, Jamison Crowder and Jalin Hyatt at wide receiver. That is at least four new options for Daniel Jones, assuming Crowder or Jeff Smith make the final roster. This is definitely an upgrade in speed and explosiveness compared to what they had last season when they had the fewest 20-plus yard receptions.

The Giants didn't get many headlines for their draft haul, but they might have come out of the weekend with starters from their first three picks. Deonte Banks (selected 24th overall out of Maryland) makes sense as a starter across from Adoree' Jackson at cornerback in Wink Martindale's defense. Center John Michael Schmitz could be a second-round steal and should have the chance to be a Day 1 starter. Then there's third-round pick and Tennessee product Jalin Hyatt, a wide receiver who gives the G-Men the vertical threat they lacked a season ago. The Giants expect Daniel Jones to continue to ascend in 2023 -- well, one can only presume this, based on the size of his new contract -- and this draft should help fuel that goal.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 13

They were a playoff team a year ago and have a young roster moving in the right direction. The big question is whether quarterback Daniel Jones, who they signed to a big deal, can continue to grow.

USA Today -- Rank: 18

They basically kept the band intact — right, Saquon? — TE Darren Waller perhaps tantamount to an additional guitarist. But can HC Brian Daboll's follow-up album really match the unexpected debut?

The Athletic -- Rank: 15

Draft takeaway: The Giants seemed to fit value and need nicely together, with each of their first three picks (cornerback Deonte Banks, interior offensive lineman John Michael Schmitz and wide receiver Jalin Hyatt) looking like they could contribute immediately.

Hype man: Brian Daboll has all offseason to cook up new offensive tricks so Danny can dish out dimes to Darren Waller and Hyatt, while Saquon Barkley is going to be more motivated than ever before playing on the franchise tag.

Deonte Downer: What are we ever going to win with the personification of the Lacoste alligator as our quarterback?

PFF -- Rank: 13

The Giants struggled a bit on defense last year, ranking 20th in EPA per dropback allowed, partly because they lacked enough adequate cornerbacks to run Wink Martindale's blitz-heavy scheme. Banks should be able to step into the building as a Day 1 starter opposite Adoree' Jackson and give the Giants a formidable cornerback duo.

PFT -- Rank: 11

No team exceeded expectations in 2022 more than the Giants, and to build on that, Daniel Jones and a rising defensive front both have to be 10 percent better. I believe each can be.
