Below you will find a Week 2 roundup for the Houston Texans in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 31

Best debut performance: DE Will Anderson Jr.
Week 1 stats: 6 tackles, sack, 2 QB hits

The 2023 No. 3 overall pick played at a high level in his debut, as his six pressures were tied for the most by a rookie in Week 1 since Nick Bosa and Josh Allen did it in 2019. Anderson also made an impact in the run game with six defensive stops. The Texans will look for more of the same from him the rest of this season. -- DJ Bien-Aime

C.J. Stroud made a respectable debut on Sunday, considering what he was up against. The Ravens' rush was in his face most of the day, as he took five sacks and spun out of at least that many more. Stroud showed good athleticism and escapability, even if the offensive line's performance makes you worry about Stroud getting hurt and, given the number of mistakes that unit made, wonder how productive he can be. Once Stroud settled in around the second quarter, there were some promising throws and plays -- just not enough to compensate. The Texans need to insulate Stroud better, but I think I underestimated how important a guy like Robert Woods is going to be for the No. 2 overall pick this season. More than once on Sunday, the savvy Woods saved his QB's bacon by coming back to the ball or catching a pass that could have been picked. All in all, a solid Game 1, but it also served as a reminder of how far this team still needs to go.

It's going to be a long season if C.J. Stroud plays like he did against the Ravens. But is anybody expecting this team to do much this year?

Despite the presence of rookie QB C.J. Stroud, Houston offered little reason to believe it's not headed for a fourth consecutive season with double-digit defeats.

DeMeco Ryans hates the running game. It would stand to reason that a defensive-minded head coach with a rookie quarterback starting would be all about the run game, but Dameon Pierce had only 11 carries, and the Texans rushed only 23 times as a team. Meanwhile, C.J. Stroud threw 44 times.

FOX -- Rank: 31

There's a lot to like about the Texans' defense, which sacked Lamar Jackson four times and made the Ravens work to put the game away. C.J. Stroud and the Houston offense, however, look like a big-time work in progress. It's not that they were awful, I'm just not sure yet what — if anything — they'll be able to hang their hat on.

The Texans had four starters on the offensive line suffer injuries since the start of training camp, and it showed. They couldn't run the ball and struggled to protect rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. It's a major problem for the Texans.

PFT -- Rank: 30

They kept it close for a little while in Baltimore, which is better than nothing.
