San Francisco 49ers Week 10 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 10 roundup for the San Francisco 49ers in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 8

Non-QB MVP: RB Christian McCaffrey

McCaffrey staked an early spot in the league MVP race, but an oblique injury in Week 6 has slowed that momentum a bit. Still, McCaffrey ranks in the top three in the league in scrimmage yards per game (118), total touchdowns (13) and rushing yards (652). He also has scored a touchdown in 17 straight games (including playoffs), tying him with Lenny Moore for the longest streak in NFL history. -- Nick Wagoner

The Week 9 bye provided a soft landing after a three-game losing streak, and it also helped give me some perspective on this team. The sky isn't falling, I suspect. Even taking into account all the issues that cropped up over the past month, there is still a path for the 49ers to get to the Super Bowl. Brock Purdy was playing at an MVP level before his three-game struggles, and with the eventual returns of Deebo Samuel and Trent Williams (who each missed the past two contests), Purdy can return to that level. The defense, which has struggled to pressure or cover consistently of late, also has help arriving in the form of trade acquisition Chase Young. The schedule remains thorny, but six of the Niners' remaining nine games come against teams currently below them on this list.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 9

They've lost three straight games and now face a tough trip to Jacksonville to play the Jaguars. Adding Chase Young will certainly help their cause.

USA Today -- Rank: 4

They just had the best off week in recent memory, acquiring DE Chase Young for a pittance, getting needed rest for injured LT Trent Williams and WR Deebo Samuel, and moving back into a first-place tie atop the NFC West following Seattle's blowout loss.

The Athletic -- Rank: 6

Report card: B-minus

A month ago, this was a solid A, but the 49ers have lost three straight games. They averaged 33.4 points in their first five games and started 5-0. They have scored 17 points in each of the last three weeks and lost all three of them. Quarterback Brock Purdy is shouldering a lot of the blame, but the running game might be the real culprit. From Week 6 through Week 9, San Francisco was 17th in the league in rushing (95.3 ypg). Before that, it was third (156.4 ypg).

FOX -- Rank: 8

I'm firm in my refusal to panic about the 49ers. History shows they're not immune to a downturn, but they tend to sort things out. They've added Chase Young to the mix, and it sounds like Deebo Samuel is coming back from his shoulder injury. I have a feeling they're going to be fine.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 5

What we've seen during the 49ers' swoon is how valuable Deebo Samuel is. With Samuel out, the offense hasn't looked the same. The 49ers are deep on offense but Samuel has skills that can't be replaced. It looks like Samuel should return this week, and the 49ers' dominant offense should return too.

PFT -- Rank: 5

That losing streak needs to end this weekend.
