QB Totals546.7364.63778.826.2611.5189.8394.93.67294.69

Bo Nix: Nix started slowly (didn't throw first touchdown until Week 4), but he was one of the most productive fantasy quarterbacks from Week 5 through the end of the season. During that span, he completed 68.3% of his pass attempts for 3,115 yards, 28 touchdowns and eight interceptions while rushing 69 times for 320 yards and two scores. He was fantasy's QB5 (QB6 on per-game basis) from Week 5-18. The Broncos added Evan Engram in free agency and used a pair of top-75 picks on playmakers — R.J. Harvey (No. 60) and Pat Bryant (No. 74) — in the 2025 NFL Draft. Denver's defense is arguably the best in the NFL, however, which could potentially limit the ceiling of the offense (i.e., fewer shootouts needed).

QB Totals571.5381.94269.128.2111.723762.40.76270.96

Jared Goff: The main concern with Goff is losing offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, but new offensive coordinator John Morton was a senior offensive assistant when Johnson became OC in 2022. Another concern is the loss of center Frank Ragnow (retirement) and Kevin Zeitler (free agency), but the Lions have a very talented group of pass catchers — Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Sam LaPorta, Jahmyr Gibbs, etc.. Goff has finished as fantasy's QB10, QB7, and QB6, respectively, over the past three seasons.

QB Totals580.2395.44213.423.7913.4953.3237.61.98272.36

Geno Smith: It's obvious that Smith is an upgrade over the trio of Aidan O'Connell, Gardner Minshew and Desmond Ridder, all of whom made starts in 2024, and a more competent passing attack with benefit Brock Bowers, Jakobi Meyers, and the team's pass catchers. While Smith's best fantasy season (2022, QB5 — eighth on a PPG basis) was his first in Seattle with Pete Carroll, he's been a mid-tier QB2 (or worse) the past two seasons. Less useful in single-QB redraft formats, Smith has upside in two-QB or super flex and best ball formats.

QB Totals574.6352.83976.221.4912.4168.6312.62.75267.94

Spencer Rattler: Kellen Moore has named Rattler the starter for Week 1. It's unlikely that he maintains that role for the full season, especially given that the Saints used a top-40 pick on Tyler Shough and will likely be in the mix for one of the top quarterbacks in 2026. (In fact, I have them drafting one early in my 2026 NFL Mock Draft.) Rattler is only relevant in 2-QB and Super Flex formats (as are all starting quarterbacks).

Tyler Shough: As noted with Rattler, Shough will start the year as the backup and should have an opportunity to make starts, but both quarterbacks are off the fantasy radar in standard single-QB leagues.

QB Totals612.3420.74579.433.1811.2848.5177.42.66327.04

Joe Burrow: Burrow, now a two-time NFL Comeback Player of the Year, had an MVP-caliber season in 2024. (Of course, so did Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson.) In any event, Burrow led the NFL in both passing yards (4,918) and touchdowns (43). With Cincinnati doling out massive contracts to both Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins this offseason, it's all systems go for Burrow and the Bengals offense, who will often find themselves needing to keep up with their leaky defense.

QB Totals551.5341.23849.522.8613.4763.9245.23.48263.87

Sam Darnold: How close will the 2025 version of Darnold be to his breakout season last year? That's the obvious question, especially considering last year's environment (coaching and supporting cast) was about as ideal for a quarterback as possible. On a positive note, the former top-three pick is still only 28 years old despite entering his eighth NFL season. Darnold threw for 4,319 passing yards, 35 touchdowns and 12 interceptions last season and finished as fantasy's QB9. It's definitely possible that the fantasy community (myself included) is discounting him too much in 2025.

Latest 2025 Fantasy Football Mock Draft

Leading up to the start of the 2025 NFL season, we will use the fantasy football mock draft simulator to complete fantasy football mock drafts. And we will do so using a variety of scoring formats — point per reception (PPR), half-PPR, standard scoring and even 2-QB leagues — and league sizes. The goal is to provide you with a good representation of the team that you may be able to draft given your league settings while also providing the rationale of why we made the picks we did.

> Our 2025 mocks will be centralized here: Fantasy Football Mock Drafts.

2025 Fantasy Football Mock Draft: 12-Team Half-PPR Mock (6th Pick)

> Our 2025 mocks will be centralized here: Fantasy Football Mock Drafts.

Starting positions: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (RB/WR/TE), 1 K, 1 DST; Bench spots: 6

1.06 - Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Detroit Lions

In this mock, Bijan Robinson and Saquaon Barkley went 1.02 and 1.03, respectively, but a case could be made for Gibbs to be the RB1. Especially with Ja'Marr Chase (1.01), Justin Jefferson (1.04) and CeeDee Lamb (1.05) all off the board as well, this was an easy choice. Gibbs set or tied career highs across the board in rushing (250/1,412/16, 5.6 YPC) and receiving (52/517/4, 9.9 Y/R) in his second season. Gibbs was also top five among running backs with a minimum of 17 targets in yards per route run (1.67) and YAC per reception (11.5), per PFF. Gibbs was especially good when David Montgomery missed the final three regular-season games (RB1 overall), but he was also the RB3 (RB4 on a PPG basis) from Weeks 1 to 15 when Montgomery was also active.

2.07 - A.J. Brown, WR, Philadelphia Eagles

Brown missed four games in 2024 and the Eagles averaged a league-worst 26.35 pass attempts per game (down from 33.12/G in 2023, 21st). Despite that, he still finished with 67 receptions for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns. While there were some quiet games, Brown's 2024 per-game averages of receptions (5.2) and yards (83.0) weren't that much lower than his career averages (5.7/86.8). Even with their potent rushing attack, it's possible that they throw more often than 26 times per game in 2025, which would make Brown a bargain here as the 10th receiver off the board.

MORE: Join or Create a 2025 Yahoo! Fantasy Football League

3.06 - Tee Higgins, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

Higgins will continue to benefit from playing as the 1B to Ja'Marr Chase, with elite quarterback (Joe Burrow) and for an offense that should need to keep up with its leaky defense. While he has missed exactly five games in back-to-back seasons, Higgins finished second (behind only Chase) among all wide receivers in fantasy points per game in 2024.

4.07 - Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

In the same year that Saquon Barkley rushed for over 2,000 yards, Hurts set a career low as a full-time starter in pass attempts per game (24.1). In fact, that was a drop of 7.5 per game from his 2023 average (31.6). He finished 2024 throwing for only 2,903 yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Even with Barkley's rushing greatness last season, Hurts extended streaks of 150-plus carries (three seasons), 600-plus rushing yards (four) and double-digit rushing scores (four). Over the past four years, Hurts has compiled 611/2,779/52 rushing in 62 games, equivalent to 9.51 fantasy points per game from rushing stats alone. In addition, only two players (both running backs) — Derrick Henry (51) and Josh Jacobs (42) — come within 10 rushing touchdowns of Hurts (52) during that span, per Stathead. (Josh Allen is tied for fourth (40) with Joe Mixon and Jonathan Taylor.)

Denver Broncos 2024 NFL power rankings post-draft roundup

Throughout the 2024 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a post-NFL draft roundup for the Denver Broncos in our consensus 2024 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 31

Most improved: Defensive line

The Broncos trading for DE John Franklin-Myers during draft weekend was one of the best under-the-radar moves of the three-day affair. Denver acquired a player who will play and have an impact across its entire defensive front for a swap of sixth- and seventh-round draft picks. Franklin-Myers is a highly productive player who consistently pressures opposing passers. Couple that with the addition of Malcolm Roach, a powerful interior player who should help what was a wobbly run defense at times last season, and the Broncos have improved. -- Jeff Legwold

NFL.com -- Rank: 28

It always felt like Bo Nix and Sean Payton were going to end up together. Part of that had to do with the fact that the Broncos were hamstrung, both financially and in terms of draft capital. But there's also a style crossover that makes sense, with Payton known for his screen packages and the timing and rhythm of his system and Nix thriving in a similar environment up at Oregon. Left to his own devices, Nix can get himself in trouble at times. But if he allows Payton to shepherd him -- and deals with all the tough love that comes with that -- Nix might be in the best place to thrive eventually. Jerry Jeudy is gone, and Courtland Sutton's place with the team isn't clear, but adding a deep threat (Troy Franklin) to a semi-promising WR room was a smart play, too. I'm kind of interested in seeing how fast and well Nix can grab hold of his opportunity.

MORE: 2024 NFL Strength of Schedule

CBS Sports -- Rank: 28

They took Bo Nix 12th overall to be their quarterback. When does he play? When should he play? It's all about Nix now.

USA Today -- Rank: 29

Admittedly a low slotting for a team in a division where second place might be up for grabs yet has a made guy like Sean Payton calling the shots. But given how bad Denver was on both sides of the ball in 2023, QB Bo Nix —steady and mature as he is — has a Rocky Mountain climb to thrive as a rookie with this supporting cast and while attempting to ingest Payton's demanding system.

The Athletic -- Rank: 31

The Falcons' quarterback selection kept Denver off the national hot seat. The Broncos took Oregon quarterback Bo Nix at No. 12, which was 32 spots higher than The Athletic's Dane Brugler had him ranked. If it works, Sean Payton can turn Denver around quickly. If it doesn't, it'll be another in a series of very curious Broncos moves.

Fox Sports -- Rank: 31

Will it be Bo Nix, Jarrett Stidham or Zach Wilson starting at quarterback? Doesn't that question tell you a lot about what to expect from the Broncos? This feels like a season to take some lumps, develop their new quarterback and get the disastrous Russell Wilson contract off their books.

Way-too-early Denver Broncos 2025 NFL mock draft roundup

Throughout the year and leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, we will update our Denver Broncos Mock Draft Roundup showing picks for the Denver Broncos from several prominent sites and draft analysts.

The following are picks in recent mock drafts for the Broncos:

Fox Sports - Rob Rang (5/3)

3. Mason Graham, IDL, Michigan

With all due respect to Cincinnati Bengals second-round selection Kris Jenkins, Jr. the best interior defensive lineman for Michigan during last year's title run was the ultra-powerful 6-foot-3, 318-pound Graham. A rare true freshman starter at Michigan, Graham bulldozed his way into First Team All-Big Ten honors a year ago with 36 tackles, including 7.5 for loss and three sacks.

ESPN - Jordan Reid (5/2)

6. Kelvin Banks Jr., OT, Texas

Finding protection for Bo Nix is a high priority for Denver. Banks is a raw pass-protector, but he has all of the necessary tools to become a high-end starter at the next level. He has played on the left side since setting foot in Austin (1,788 total snaps) and has allowed only two sacks over those two seasons. But I think Banks might be even more impressive as an overwhelming run-blocker.

MORE: 2024 NFL Strength of Schedule

San Diego Union-Tribune - Eddie Brown (5/2)

6. Will Johnson, CB, Michigan

All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr.'s future with the Broncos remains up in the air. Johnson is a press corner with outstanding size (6-2, 202), ball skills and athleticism. The former five-star recruit would've been the first corner off the board this year had he been eligible (possibly in 2023 as well).

The Athletic - Dane Brugler (4/30)

4. Will Campbell, OT, LSU

Since he earned his way onto the field as a true freshman, it was clear Campbell was a little different than everyone else. The left tackle is able to sink, stay in front of rushers and answer counters with ease.

PFF - Max Chadwick (4/29)

3. Mason Graham, IDL, Michigan

The Broncos need a true difference-maker on their defensive line. Denver's edge defenders and interior defensive linemen combined for the fifth-lowest grade in the league. Enter Graham. He was one of only two interior defensive linemen in college football to finish with top-10 grades as both a pass rusher and run defender (T'Vondre Sweat was the other). He's a nearly complete player who could rival Jalen Carter and Quinnen Williams as a prospect next April.

The 33rd Team - Marcus Mosher (4/29)

4. Nic Scourton, EDGE, Texas A&M

This is one of the deeper classes when it comes to pass rushers, and Nic Scourton has the chance to be the best of the group. Scourton led the Big Ten in sacks (10) as a junior and recorded a whopping 15 tackles for a loss. He is also 280 pounds, which gives him some inside-outside flexibility.

USA Today - Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz (4/28)

3. James Pearce Jr., EDGE, Tennessee

A record 14 offensive players were picked before the first defender heard his name called this year. There's little chance for a similar situation to unfold in 2025, thanks in large part to Pearce. At 6-5 and 242 pounds, he is long, explosive and loose, making him a truly troublesome matchup off the edge.

The Broncos put their pass rush on the backburner somewhat as they used their first-round pick this year on quarterback Bo Nix. In Pearce, Denver would land a potentially dominant presence to lead a group that has mostly been left to try to scrape by.

CBS Sports - Ryan Wilson (4/28)

6. Carson Beck, QB, Georgia

Beck was getting some buzz late in 2023 but decided to return to Georgia, where he'll have a chance to be QB1 a year from now.

Denver Broncos Week 10 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 10 roundup for the Denver Broncos in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 27

Non-QB MVP: CB Pat Surtain II

Surtain consistently shows the impact he can have on a game. Other than a rare lapse when Surtain allowed the Jets' Robbie Chosen to get behind him for a 68-yard touchdown in Week 5, he has been every bit the All-Pro he's expected to be. The touchdown is the only completion longer than 20 yards that he has surrendered all season. -- Jeff Legwold

NFL.com -- Rank: 24

Two wins before the Week 9 bye have changed the Broncos' vector dramatically, and that's thanks largely to the defense. Yes, the same unit that was humiliated by the Dolphins. The same group that gave up 28 and 31 points to the Bears and Jets, respectively. Since then, though, Denver allowed the Chiefs to score 28 points in eight quarters and held the Packers to 17 in four. There have been personnel changes in the secondary and up front, with Fabian Moreau, Ja'Quan McMillian, Jonathon Cooper and Nik Bonitto thriving in expanded roles, and multiple injured players returning after missing the toughest stretches of the season. Could the Broncos go to Buffalo and give a suddenly struggling Bills team some fits next Monday? You can't rule it out.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 26

They come off their bye with a tough road game against the Bills. They looked good In beating the Chiefs before the bye, but this is another brutal test.

USA Today -- Rank: 25

Quiet at the trade deadline, time to find out if they overvalued their players ... or might go on a run with them after winning the last two games.

The Athletic -- Rank: 27

Report card: D-plus

Denver traded three players, three first-round draft picks and three second-round draft picks to acquire Russell Wilson and Sean Payton. For all that, the Broncos are 26th in the league in point differential (minus-54). Wilson, at least, has made strides from his disastrous first season in Denver. He has 16 touchdowns versus four interceptions, is fifth in the league in passer rating (101.7) and has the second-lowest off-target percentage among starters (6.9 percent).

FOX -- Rank: 24

The league office sure seems to have done a good job setting teams up with a big test coming out of the bye week. Fresh from the week off, the Broncos' next test after beating the Chiefs is a national TV game against the reeling Bills.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 24

It was odd the Broncos didn't make any moves at the trade deadline. Perhaps they think they're a playoff contender, or they didn't get a reasonable offer for someone like Jerry Jeudy. It's fine for head coach Sean Payton to look at a team coming off a win over the Chiefs and want to see how it progresses. It's hard to see Denver being in playoff contention, though we'll see.

PFT -- Rank: 23

Beat the Bills, and maybe they can make a playoff push.

Denver Broncos Week 9 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 9 roundup for the Denver Broncos in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 26

There are moments when Russell Wilson appears to be comfortable in Sean Payton's offense and to have fixed some of what ailed his game last season when he threw for a career-low 16 touchdown passes. But then there is the matter of Wilson having just five career games in which he has thrown for fewer than 120 yards and two of those coming in the past three weeks -- both against the Chiefs. Wilson threw for 114 yards Sunday in the Broncos' first win over the Chiefs since Sept. 17, 2015, but he finished with three touchdown passes among his 12 completions -- giving him a total of 1,613 passing yards with 16 touchdowns on the season. If the Broncos could pair the Wilson from earlier in the season, who was more efficient getting the ball out of his hands, with the way they have played defense in recent weeks, the team would win more than it would lose the rest of the way. -- Jeff Legwold

NFL.com -- Rank: 24

Talk of playoffs might be premature, but this team has completely changed its stripes since giving up 70 points to Miami in Week 3, and a sub-.500 season is no longer close to a sure thing. Offensively, things remain somewhat unvarnished, but a month of incremental improvements bore fruit: Denver's first win over the Chiefs since the Peyton Manning days. That's a testament to a defense moving in the right direction (how about guys like Ja'Quan McMillian, Zach Allen and Baron Browning?) and a run game that has become Denver's engine. The Broncos hit the Week 9 bye knowing four of their next six games are on the road, but there's at least a sense of steadiness that simply wasn't there a few weeks back.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 26

That was an impressive showing against the Chiefs by their defense. That unit has made big strides. Holding the Chiefs without a touchdown is impressive and the offense was solid.

USA Today -- Rank: 25

Their biggest win in years was appropriately celebrated with Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" cascading through Empower Field after Denver vanquished Travis Kelce and Kansas City ... finally.

The Athletic -- Rank: 20

Something scary (for others): The defense is getting better.

After allowing 36.2 points per game through their first five games, the Broncos have given up 15 per game in the last three, and two of those games were against the Chiefs. Combine that with Russell Wilson's continued quiet competency, and Denver could be a tough out in the second half of the season. Wilson had his 43rd career game with three touchdowns and a passer rating above 100 on Sunday, tying Tom Brady for third all-time in that category.

FOX -- Rank: 24

I'm going to take this opportunity to shout out Denver defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. It's got to be strange calling the Broncos' defense when you used to be the team's head coach — and especially with the way Denver has struggled this season. Credit to Joseph and his players, they're playing good ball right now, as evidenced by a stifling win against the best quarterback in the game.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 21

The Broncos' defensive turnaround has been stunning. A few weeks ago, Denver looked like the worst defense not only this season but maybe in many seasons. Then over two games in three weeks, Denver held Kansas City to 28 points. Patrick Mahomes didn't lead his team to one touchdown on Sunday, a few weeks after Miami scored 70 on Denver. Everyone was ready to fire defensive coordinator Vance Joseph a month ago, and now he deserves credit for overseeing a huge turnaround.

PFT -- Rank: 23

They have a long road to go to playoff contention, but they're finally building some momentum.

Denver Broncos Week 7 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 7 roundup for the Denver Broncos in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 31

Lesson learned: This might be a far bigger rebuild than Sean Payton thought.

Payton was very public about his belief the Broncos could compete for a playoff spot this season. But this is a team that has missed the postseason seven years in a row, looks thin across the depth chart, is often disjointed on offense, has surrendered 70 points in a game this season and doesn't look to have many winnable games left on the schedule if they play at their current level. Payton has already jettisoned outside linebackers Randy Gregory and Frank Clark and with the trade deadline approaching he has a locker room full of players wondering who's next. -- Jeff Legwold

NFL.com -- Rank: 28

It's becoming harder to see how Sean Payton and Russell Wilson are going to thrive in their arranged pairing, considering the Broncos are amid their worst start in nearly 30 years. Wilson has looked solid to strong at times, but mistakes at critical junctures have really marred his play this season. Payton has looked weary at times, even if he's coaxed much better effort from the team since the 50-point loss to the Dolphins. The defense especially came to play in last Thursday's 19-8 loss at Kansas City, and maybe it's a stepping stone for better play down the stretch. But if Denver doesn't get more from Wilson, Jerry Jeudy and the offensive line, it's going to be difficult to project much actual progress toward winning.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 31

This is officially a disaster. Russell Wilson looks lost. Sean Payton isn't fixing him.

USA Today -- Rank: 28

They'll only leave Denver one time from now until December. That may not necessarily be a plus given how this 1-5 outfit is trending ... though if Sean Payton continues offloading players, at least the home fans will have some new guys to boo.

The Athletic -- Rank: 31

The Broncos have the defensive version of the Giants offense. Denver is last in the league in yards (440.3) and points (33.3) allowed per game. Even the silver lining of the season — Russell Wilson's quiet improvement — was blotted out in Week 6. Wilson had a 46.4 passer rating against the Chiefs on Thursday night and fumbled to end any chance of a Broncos win. It was only the second time this season Wilson's passer rating has been below 103 in a game.

FOX -- Rank: 29

Sean Payton couldn't have seen this in his worst stress dreams about returning to the sideline. The Broncos weren't widely expected to be a playoff team, but most people agreed Payton would get them out of the NFL cellar. Surprising or not, the most interesting thing about this team is whether they decide to sell off more pieces at the trade deadline.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 28

Thursday night was a big win for the "Russell Wilson is the problem" crowd. You're going to hear a lot about how Wilson has another $37 million that becomes guaranteed on the fifth day of the 2024 league year. There's no good solution to the Wilson situation, other than him completely turning things around the rest of the season. Which seems unlikely.

PFT -- Rank: 30

Will Greg Penner hit the reset button after another potentially disastrous season?

Denver Broncos Week 6 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 6 roundup for the Denver Broncos in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 31

Fantasy surprise: RB Jaleel McLaughlin

The undrafted rookie continues to be a big play waiting to happen. He is tied for the team lead in touchdowns with three -- one rushing, two receiving -- is the team's leading rusher, is averaging 7.3 yards per carry and has four rushing attempts of at least 12 yards in the last two games alone. The Broncos say he's going to get more touches because he's earned them. -- Jeff Legwold

NFL.com -- Rank: 28

There were plenty of things worth pointing fingers at after the loss to the Jets, but it starts with Sean Payton. After all, Payton put the focus on himself with preseason comments that clearly played a role in fueling the Jets on Sunday. Was it arrogant? Meant to shield his players? Whatever it was, it has backfired tremendously in Payton's 1-4 start in Denver. That the Broncos reasonably could be 3-2 (and unreasonably, 4-1) is no solace when one loss came by 50 points. There have been too many self-inflicted errors to call this team a wolf in sheep's clothing. The offense went ice cold most of the second half against New York, and the run defense was chewed up once more. Back to square one.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 31

Losing to the Jets isn't a good look for Sean Payton after his comments about Nathaniel Hackett. The defense is terrible.

USA Today -- Rank: 28

Naturally, when you crown yourselves with dopey "snowcapped" helmets, another Rocky Mountain meltdown is completely inevitable.

The Athletic -- Rank: 31

The Broncos used their first pick of the 2023 draft on Oklahoma wide receiver Marvin Mims (No. 63), so why aren't they using him more? Mims, who had one catch for 4 yards on Sunday, is playing only about one-third of the offensive snaps, but he's second in the NFL in yards per target (20.5), according to TruMedia. Maybe he should have more than 12 targets this season?

FOX -- Rank: 28

Denver gets off so lucky here. The only reason they aren't lower is that they already beat the Bears, and because things somehow look worse in three other NFL cities. It's a bad look losing the Nathaniel Hackett Bowl to the guy Denver chased out of town. But what's definitely worse is the way the Broncos defense has turned into the worst unit in the league.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 30

Denver has the 2023 NBA champions and the 2022 Stanley Cup champions, and just up the road is Deion Sanders and the most-watched college football team of this season. At some point, Broncos fans are going to ditch the habit of watching that team and tune into the more interesting teams in the area. The Broncos are terrible and irrelevant, and head coach Sean Payton's act is not exactly endearing when he's losing, and it's all probably not getting better Thursday night at Kansas City.

PFT -- Rank: 30

Russell Wilson's second year in Denver is starting to feel like his last one.

Denver Broncos Week 5 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 5 roundup for the Denver Broncos in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 30

Biggest issue on defense: Can't pick just one ...

The Broncos struggle to hold their ground up front in the run game -- opponents are averaging a robust 5.6 yards per carry and 176 rushing yards per game. Their attempts to make off coverage work too often result in completion after completion. They haven't tackled well, and they are last in the league in scoring defense (37.5 points per game), run defense (176 YPG) as well as last in yards allowed per pass play (9.5). Folks want to dump all that on Vance Joseph's desk -- and yes, he wears the headset, so he wears the results -- but those kinds of problems go way beyond who's calling the plays and include injuries in the secondary, those who assembled the depth chart and those carrying out the assignments. -- Jeff Legwold

NFL.com -- Rank: 28

Overcoming a 21-point deficit deserves serious credit, even if the rally came against a Bears team mired in a 14-game losing streak. It might not be perfect, but Russell Wilson is playing some strong ball. Ten different Denver players caught passes Sunday, and some young guns -- Marvin Mims and Jaleel McLaughlin -- are stating cases for expanded roles. The defense allowed 112 points in an eight-quarter span from halftime of Week 2 to halftime Sunday, but it gummed up late and forced two game-sealing turnovers in the final seven minutes in Chicago. Maybe it's a start. It had better be. Three of the Broncos' next four games are at home, but in that span, they'll face presumably angry Jets and Packers teams and the Chiefs twice.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 30

They rallied to beat the Bears, but they still have major issues. The offense did come alive. The defense is bad.

USA Today -- Rank: 29

One of the football tragedies of this young season is being deprived of Jets QB Aaron Rodgers and Denver HC Sean Payton matching wits in order to render some kind of verdict on the Nathaniel Hackett "era" in the Mile High City.

The Athletic -- Rank: 31

The Broncos wrestled 31st place in the power rankings away from the Bears, but it took quite an effort. Denver fell behind 28-7, but quarterback Russell Wilson led a comeback, going 21 of 28 for 223 yards and three touchdowns. His passer rating (133.5) was his highest since he joined the Broncos last season.

FOX -- Rank: 28

Credit to the Broncos for rallying to outscore the Bears 24-0 down the stretch. But it speaks to this team's larger issues that they were ever in a 28-7 hole in the first place. Beating this Bears team is not a great indicator of where you stand, so let's keep an eye on this.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 31

When the Broncos trailed 28-7, and their defense was making the Bears look like the 1989 49ers, they were ticketed for No. 32 and by a city block. Good on the Broncos for the comeback win but they still look like the second-worst team in the NFL.

PFT -- Rank: 29

A win is a win, even if it comes against an NFL team that is barely an NFL team.

Denver Broncos Week 4 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 4 roundup for the Denver Broncos in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 31

Biggest issue on offense: Turnovers and timing

The Broncos are tied for 27th in the league with a minus-5 turnover margin in just three games. Some of that is because they don't take the ball away from the opposition often enough (another story for another day), but they've lost three fumbles -- two by Courtland Sutton in the disastrous 70-20 loss Sunday -- to go with two interceptions by quarterback Russell Wilson. But Wilson is not the problem right now. This team is often running substitutions late in the play clock and has had more than their share of drive-stalling penalties on offense, including the pre-snap variety coach Sean Payton had promised to curtail. -- Jeff Legwold

NFL.com -- Rank: 31

It's hard to know where to start. Denver has lost games by one, two and 50 points. The talk has now temporarily shifted from the Sean Payton-Russell Wilson relationship to whatever in the world is happening with the defense. In Week 1, that unit played well enough to win. In Week 2, Sam Howell carved Denver up. Week 3 was just an ambush, the likes of which we've not seen in many, many years. Would you believe that the Broncos have the sixth-most-expensive defense in the NFL, per Over the Cap? Wilson and the passing game have done some nice things, but not nice enough to overcome that. The defense needs to straighten out fast.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 30

Wow, 70 points given up in an NFL game? Sean Payton better talk to his players about quitting. That's what it looked like in the loss to Miami.

USA Today -- Rank: 31

QB Russell Wilson is 0-3 for the first time in his NFL career. Denver just became the first team to lose by 50 points in nearly nine years. But they go to Chicago this Sunday with the chance to prove they're not the worst team in the league.

The Athletic -- Rank: 32

QB confidence rating: 3

Does it matter? The Broncos managed to at least briefly distract from their long-term Russell Wilson problem by giving up 70 points to the Dolphins and stealing last place from the Bears.

FOX -- Rank: 31

The Broncos wound up on the wrong side of a historic butt-kicking — and at the hands of a head coach in Mike McDaniel who used to be their ball boy. Sean Payton is going to need every ounce of his NFL experience to move his team past this, because this is the type of loss that can fester.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 31

The Broncos had a good defense last season. They were seventh in the NFL in yards allowed and generally played well. There was no way to predict the disaster the defense has been this season. The Broncos didn't play well in the first two weeks and then Sunday became the second team in NFL history to allow 700 yards in a game. Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, who took over from last year's coordinator Ejiro Evero, can't be feeling too comfortable.

PFT -- Rank: 31

Fortunately for the Broncos and their fans, weed is legal in Colorado.

Denver Broncos Week 3 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 3 roundup for the Denver Broncos in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 28

Player: LB Josey Jewell
Current contract situation: Under contract through the 2023 season

Jewell has consistently been one of the team's most productive, most prepared and most reliable players in his time with the Broncos. He signed a two-year deal before the 2022 season and is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent. Jewel is a mainstay in all of the personnel groupings on defense -- he played 56 of 59 defensive snaps in the opener and 65 of 73 defensive snaps in Sunday's loss to the Commanders. The new coaching regime has big plans for rookie Drew Sanders at linebacker at some point, so the Broncos will face a decision down the road if those snaps come at Jewell's expense or not. -- Jeff Legwold

NFL.com -- Rank: 23

Denver is one of two 0-2 teams to have lost both contests at home, along with New England. The Broncos' losses have been by 1 and 2 points. It feels like they were a few plays away from being 2-0, but you can't overlook the fact that the Broncos were up 21-3 Sunday with the ball on the Washington 40-yard line midway through the second quarter. From there, Washington put up 18 straight points (and it should have been more), as Denver's offense froze and the defense allowed scoring chances on six straight possessions. Russell Wilson's second-quarter fumble and third-quarter interception sandwiched a pair of three-and-outs. Sean Payton's postgame comments seemed to center around Wilson and the offense. Where this thing goes is anyone's guess, but the road to the playoffs is longer now.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 27

They are 0-2 and head to Miami this week to play the Dolphins. They seemed to be cruising to a victory over the Commanders, but it all fell apart. Bad look.

USA Today -- Rank: 28

They opened 0-2 at home for the first time. Per ESPN, Sean Payton had been 72-0 with an 18-point lead ... before Sunday. Another, uh, memorable campaign already brewing in the Rocky Mountains.

The Athletic -- Rank: 28

It's too early to say if Russell Wilson is "fixed" or not, but the quarterback is fourth among quarterbacks in EPA per play (.21). Last year, he was 36th at minus-.12. Denver scored 33 points Sunday against a Washington defense with one of the best lines in the league. "It hasn't been terrible" counts as progress for the Broncos right now.

FOX -- Rank:

It's not as if the Broncos were a preseason favorite. But with Sean Payton overseeing things in Denver, you figured they had a good shot to at least beat the Raiders, or the Commanders — or maybe even both. Instead, they're 0-2 with a road trip to play the high-flying Dolphins up next. The Broncos definitely look better than last year, but it's yet to show in the results.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 28

I can't believe officials didn't call defensive pass interference on a two-point conversion with no time left. It was a clear penalty. The Broncos shouldn't have been in that position anyway. They led 21-3 at home and couldn't finish. After three touchdowns on three drives, the Broncos had four first downs in their next six drives. Those drives: fumble, punt, punt, interception, field goal, punt. For a brief moment it looked like Russell Wilson was back, and then the rest of the game happened.

PFT -- Rank: 28

Sean Payton is already making it subtly clear that, if Russell Wilson doesn't figure things out, he won't be back next year.
