Aaron Rodgers: After winning back-to-back NFL MVP awards in 2020 and 2021, Rodgers numbers (without Davante Adams) were well below his career averages across the board in 2022 — 64.6% (65.3% career average), 4.8 TD% (6.2%), 2.2 INT% (1.4%), 6.8 Y/A (7.7) and 91.1 passer rating (103.6). Regardless of how long the next era of his career lasts, Rodgers joins a Jets team that has a better supporting cast than he had last year in Green Bay.

Breece Hall: Before Hall tore his ACL, his NFL career was off to a great start. The rookie from Iowa State averaged 5.8 yards per carry and 11.5 yards per reception through seven games. His workload had jumped considerably in Weeks 4-6 (61 touches) from Weeks 1-3 (34). Who knows how good his rookie season would have been if the injury hadn't happened? There are lots of reasons for fantasy managers to be excited about Hall's long-term outlook, but it wouldn't be a shock if he starts the 2023 season slowly, especially with Dalvin Cook joining the Jets on a one-year deal.

Dalvin Cook: Cook appeared in all 17 games last season, and it was the first time that played more than 14 games in a season. Now a Jet, he's no longer the clear lead back, but it's possible that he starts the season with a larger share of the workload as the Jets ease Hall back from injury.

Michael Carter: Carter had double-digit touches in eight of the first nine games last season, but he had only 28 touches — 15 carries for 32 yards and 13 catches for 79 yards — over the final five games. The team kept him over Zonovan Knight, but his opportunities will be limited as long as both Hall and Cook are healthy.

Garrett Wilson: Despite poor quarterback play, Wilson was outstanding in 2022 as he finished with 83 receptions for 1,103 yards and four touchdowns and was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. More efficient quarterback play should help Wilson in his second season.

Allen Lazard: Lazard posted career highs in targets (100), receptions (60) and yards (788) last season. Although Lazard edged his Packers teammate Christian Watson in fantasy points scored last season, both of whom finished as top-36 performers, Watson outscored him on a per-game basis. While he benefits from continuing to catch passes from Aaron Rodgers, there's a clear talent gap between Garrett Wilson and Lazard.

Mecole Hardman: Hardman has the potential to have an occasional big week, but he'll be hard to trust as the team's third (or fourth?) receiver behind Wilson and Lazard (and Cobb?). He's never averaged more than 40.8 yards per game in his four seasons with Patrick Mahomes.

Tyler Conklin: Conklin followed up his breakout 2021 season (61/593/3, 87 targets) in Minnesota with nearly identical numbers (58/552/3, 87 targets) with the Jets last year. Given that the offense should be better in general in 2023, there's a chance that Conklin performs as a mid-tier TE2 once again.

Clouding the outlook for the backfield was Dalvin Cook's visit at the end of July, even if there is "no timeline for a signing."

Michael Carter: Carter had double-digit touches in eight of the first nine games last season, but he had only 28 touches — 15 carries for 32 yards and 13 catches for 79 yards — over the final five games. Various other backs (Hall, James Robinson and Zonovan Knight) had games where they handled larger workloads than Carter last season and there is speculation that Carter could be the odd man out if the team signs Dalvin Cook.

Zonovan Knight: Knight wasn't active until Week 12, but he handled 98 touches (85/300/1 rushing and 13/100 receiving) over the final seven games of the season.

Israel Abanikanda: NFL.com's Lance Zierlein comped Abanikanda to Kansas City's Isiah Pacheco before the NFL Draft, although it would be unreasonable to expect a such a large rookie contribution from the fifth-round pick. That said, The Athletic's Zach Rosenblatt wrote after OTAs that Abanikanda "has the explosiveness and home-run ability to make an impact right away, and I think he will."

Patrick Mahomes: Mahomes has been a top-four fantasy quarterback lock, when healthy. During his four seasons as a starter, he has finished as fantasy's QB1, QB7 (missed multiple games), QB4 and QB4, respectively. In four seasons as a starter, Mahomes has a 6.5 TD%, 1.6 INT% and 8.1 Y/A with a 17-game pace of 5,129 passing yards and 41.4 touchdowns. Losing Tyreek Hill will have an impact, but Mahomes should remain a top-four option.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Through two seasons, Edwards-Helaire has missed a total of 10 games including seven last season. The Chiefs signed Ronald Jones II this offseason and re-signed Jerick McKinnon, who handled double-digit carries in all three of the team's playoff games this past season. While the presence of RoJo and McKinnon may frustrate those that roster CEH, his ADP provides a reasonable draft-day cost to get exposure to the top back of one of the league's most potent offenses.

Ronald Jones: Jones' numbers in 2021 were (more than) halved from the prior season. Last season, Jones had only 111 touches for 492 scrimmage yards and eight touchdowns. Perhaps a change of scenery will serve him well, but he'll be competing with (and appears to be behind) Edwards-Helaire and McKinnon for snaps.

JuJu Smith-Schuster: Smith-Schuster missed 12 games last season and he's only averaged 8.6 and 6.2 yards per reception and target, respectively, over the past two seasons combined. While there's little chance that he posts a line similar to his sophomore campaign (111/1,426/7, 2018), he has an excellent chance to bounce back as the WR1 in Kansas City's high-powered offense.

Skyy Moore: Moore had a 95/1,292/10 line and PFF credited Moore with 26 broken tackles after the catch, which led FBS wide receivers. The former WMU Bronco should earn a more prominent role as the season progresses.

Mecole Hardman: Hardman set career highs in targets (83), receptions (59) and yards (693) last season, but he also set career lows in touchdowns (two) and Y/R (11.7). The speedy former second-round pick has an opportunity to build upon those numbers with Tyreek Hill in Miami, but he'll be competing with newcomers Smith-Schuster, Moore and Marquez Valdes-Scantling for targets.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling: A boom-or-bust type deep threat, Valdes-Scantling exceeded 20 receiving yards in fewer games (five) than he didn't (six games) in 2021. MVS's history of up-and-down performances is unlikely to change, which makes him a better option in best ball formats than regular season-long re-draft leagues.

Travis Kelce: In a down year, Kelce finished with 92 catches for 1,125 yards and nine touchdowns. The 32-year-old tight end now has six consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with more than 90 catches in four straight. He's been either TE1 or TE2 for six consecutive seasons and he may even see a bump in target share with Tyreek Hill now in South Florida.

The Chiefs signed Ronald Jones II this offseason and re-signed Jerick McKinnon, who handled double-digit carries in all three of the team's playoff games this past season. While the presence of RoJo and McKinnon may frustrate those that roster CEH, his ADP provides a reasonable draft-day cost to get exposure to the top back of one of the league's most potent offenses.

Ronald Jones: Jones' numbers in 2021 were (more than) halved from the prior season. Last season, Jones had only 111 touches for 492 scrimmage yards and eight touchdowns. Perhaps a change of scenery will serve him well, but he'll be competing with Edwards-Helaire and McKinnon for snaps.

JuJu Smith-Schuster: Smith-Schuster missed 12 games last season and he's only averaged 8.6 Y/R and 6.2 Y/Tgt over the past two seasons combined. While there's little chance that he posts a line similar to his sophomore campaign (111/1,426/7, 2018), he has an excellent chance to bounce back as the likely WR1 in Kansas City's high-powered offense.

Skyy Moore: Converting to receiver based on WMU team needs, Moore led the Broncos in both receptions (51) and yards (802) as a true freshman in 2019. Last season, he had a 95/1,292/10 line and PFF credited Moore with 26 broken tackles after the catch, which led FBS wide receivers. There is a pathway to Moore being the team's most productive wide receiver as a rookie.

Mecole Hardman: Hardman set career highs in targets (83), receptions (59) and yards (693) last season, but he also set career lows in touchdowns (two) and Y/R (11.7). The speedy former second-round pick has an opportunity to build upon those numbers with Tyreek Hill in Miami, but he'll be competing with newcomers Smith-Schuster, Moore and Marquez Valdes-Scantling for targets.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling: A boom-or-bust type deep threat, Valdes-Scantling exceeded 20 receiving yards in fewer games (five) than he didn't (six games) in 2021. MVS's history of up-and-down performances is unlikely to change, which makes him a better option in best ball formats than regular season-long re-draft leagues.

Travis Kelce: In a down year, Kelce finished with 92 catches for 1,125 yards and nine touchdowns. The 32-year-old tight end now has six consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with more than 90 catches in four straight. He's been either TE1 or TE2 for six consecutive seasons and he may even see a bump in target share with Tyreek Hill now in South Florida.

Person on the hot seat: WR Mecole Hardman

The Chiefs showed a lot of faith in the third-year player, declining to bring in a veteran receiver or draft one in an early round to replace Sammy Watkins. Hardman is first in line to replace Watkins and needs to justify that faith. If he doesn't respond with a consistent season, one without all the highs and lows of the past two seasons, look for the Chiefs to acquire a receiver next year to join Tyreek Hill as a regular. -- Adam Teicher

Andy Reid is old school, and so it was that Patrick Mahomes was one of the few established starting quarterbacks in the league to see extended preseason action. Mahomes came out of the games healthy (phew), and the re-made offensive line passed its initial test. Mahomes wasn't sacked once in three games, and the new group -- made up of left tackle Orlando Brown Jr., left guard Joe Thuney, rookie center Creed Humphrey, rookie right guard Trey Smith and first-year right tackle Lucas Niang -- delivered its best performance in the final tune-up against the Vikings. Said Mahomes: "I think they've had an amazing preseason."

The rebuilt offensive line should make the offense get back to scoring points in a big way with Patrick Mahomes lighting it up. There are some concerns about the defense that have to improve.

USA Today -- Rank: 2

Their revamped offensive line projects to have three players (rookie C Creed Humphrey, RG Trey Smith and RT Lucas Niang) who have combined for zero NFL starts. Could be a rough beginning for a team that will see Myles Garrett, Calais Campbell and Joey Bosa in September.

The Athletic -- Rank: 1

Why they're ranked here: The Chiefs were our top-ranked team heading into training camp, and they remain No. 1 today, earning a first-place vote from 15 of our 25 panelists. That gave Kansas City a slight overall edge on the Bucs. The rationale for the Chiefs here? One: Patrick Mahomes; perhaps you've heard of him. Two: There's a big gap in the talent level between the Chiefs and the rest of the AFC. That leaves a fairly clear path for Kansas City to, at the very least, return to the conference championship game.

One big question: Who will step up as receiving options after Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill? The Chiefs have possibly the best tight end-wide receiver duo in the NFL with Kelce and Hill. But for Kansas City to be the high-flying, record-setting offense so many of us clearly expect, it will need more consistent options behind those two. Is it Mecole Hardman? Demarcus Robinson? We have yet to see it consistently from either, but Andy Reid will need to find someone reliable.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Given how productive a third-round rookie (Kareem Hunt) had been in Andy Reid's offense just a few seasons ago (2017), Edwards-Helaire, the only first-round running back in the 2020 NFL Draft, was a relative disappointment despite a couple of big performances in the first half of last season. Even so, he has the skill set and draft pedigree to be much more productive in Kansas City's high-powered offense this season than he was as a rookie and could turn out to be a draft-day bargain.

Darrel Williams: Williams is a high-upside handcuff for Clyde Edwards-Helaire. If CEH were to miss any time, Williams would immediately become an RB2 in Kansas City's high-powered offense.

Mecole Hardman: Many fantasy managers expected Hardman to take a step forward in his sophomore campaign, but his year-over-year production was nearly identical -- 26/538/6 (20.7 Y/R) in 2019 and 41/560/4 (13.7 Y/R) in 2020. With Sammy Watkins now in Baltimore and no significant additions to the receiving corps, Hardman offers upside at his late-round ADP.

Demarcus Robinson: Given that Hardman has yet to deliver for fantasy managers, it wouldn't be the worst idea to throw a dart at Robinson or Byron Pringle with the last pick in your fantasy draft.

Regardless of how you slice it, Kelce is not only the slam-dunk TE1 heading into 2021, but he's worth considering towards the end of Round 1.
