Los Angeles Rams Week 5 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2020 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Here is where the Los Angeles Rams rank in terms of average, best and worst:

  • Average ranking: 8.6 (T-8th)
  • Best ranking: 7th (USA Today)
  • Worst ranking: 11th (CBS Sports)

Below you will find a Week 5 roundup for the Rams in our consensus 2020 NFL Power Rankings.

The Athletic -- Rank: 8

They turned in a sloppy and conservative offensive performance in a 17-9 win over the Giants. No team produced fewer yards (240) than the Rams in Week 4. They got the ball with 2:33 left, holding an eight-point lead. Sean McVay chose to run it three straight times before punting and allowing the Giants a chance for the game-tying score. Cornerback Darious Williams has made a couple of huge plays for Los Angeles. He had a big interception against the Eagles in Week 2. And against the Giants, with 57 seconds left, he did a tremendous job staying with Damion Ratley before making a diving, game-clinching interception.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 11

It wasn't a dominating showing against the Giants, but they found a way. At 3-1, they are keeping pace with Seattle.

USA Today -- Rank: 7

They're on track to complete an NFC East sweep Sunday at Washington. Perhaps Rams relocated to wrong coast?

ESPN -- Rank: 8

FPI chance to make playoffs: 79.0%

The Rams are potentially a questionable call away from being 4-0 after staging an impressive 25-point, come-from-behind effort in Buffalo that fell just short of a win. They are in second place behind the Seahawks in the NFC West and a game up on the 49ers and Cardinals. The remainder of their schedule, outside of the division and contests against the Buccaneers and Patriots, doesn't appear daunting enough to keep them from securing one of seven NFC playoff spots. The offense and defense have appeared dominant at times, but finding consistency will be key in maintaining their position. And so far, injuries have not been a major concern. -- Lindsey Thiry

NFL.com -- Rank: 9

The Rams fell into the trap of playing down to the level of an NFC East opponent in Week 4. Sean McVay's team is better than the Giants across the board, but it took a 55-yard Cooper Kupp touchdown in the fourth quarter and final red-zone stop to ensure a 17-9 win over New York's other winless team. Los Angeles managed just 122 yards of total offense between Gerald Everett's first-quarter touchdown and Kupp's score, a striking lack of production against a mediocre unit. We'll see if the Rams are able to play up to their potential when they get another uninspiring NFC East foe this week in Washington.
