The Athletic -- Rank: 1
Best-case scenario: They overtake the Steelers for the top seed in the AFC. Right now, the two teams have identical records, but the Steelers own the tiebreak right now on account of having a better conference winning percentage (Pittsburgh is 8-0 against AFC teams, while Kansas City is 9-1). Neither team has a cakewalk the rest of the way. The Chiefs play at Miami and at New Orleans before finishing the season at home against the Falcons and Chargers. Home-field advantage doesn't matter as much this season without fans (or with limited fans), but with only one team getting a first-round bye, earning the top seed may be more significant than ever.

It wasn't pretty against the Broncos, but they got it done. That moves them up to the top spot with the Steelers losing.

Maybe he's not exactly Mike Ditka 2.0 -- or even Rob Gronkowski 0.8 -- but it's time to recognize that Travis Kelce could very well be remembered as the greatest receiving tight end in NFL history. No one else at his position has five 1,000-yard seasons, and Kelce's have come in consecutive years.

Person with most at stake: Head coach Andy Reid
Despite winning the Super Bowl last season, Reid isn't yet guaranteed to be an eventual Hall of Fame selection. Winning back-to-back championships would appear to be enough to put Reid over the top. Of the six coaches who have done it, four are in the Hall, and one who isn't, Bill Belichick, is a lock once his career is finished. -- Adam Teicher

You could almost hear the disappointment in Al and Cris' voices on Sunday Night Football: NBC slated the Chiefs in prime time to lay their latest prodigious whipping on an opponent -- in this case, the Denver Broncos -- but instead, viewers were treated to a more muted affair in Kansas City's 22-16 win. Credit the Broncos' stubborn defense for refusing to play the role of cannon fodder, and just be thankful you're not the Chiefs' upstairs replay guy who has to explain to Andy Reid why he wasn't told to challenge the ruled incompletion on what would have been a touchdown catch by Tyreek Hill in the second quarter. The Chiefs clinched their sixth consecutive postseason appearance (tying a franchise record) and are one Raiders loss away from their fifth straight AFC West title. These guys are good.
