The Athletic -- Rank: 17
They had a pair of first-round picks and took Henry Ruggs 12th and Damon Arnette 19th. Ruggs is having a perfectly fine rookie season with 414 receiving yards (18.0 yards per reception), and he's just missed on several big plays. Arnette has gone through the usual rookie growing pains at cornerbacks and dealt with injuries, but he's been feisty and shown flashes. The Raiders got embarrassed by the Colts in Week 14 and would be on the outside looking in if the playoffs started today.

They can't stop anybody, which is why they fired Paul Guenther. But does it really matter who coordinates that group?

Quite a four-game stretch -- Vegas surrendering 150 points, while QB Derek Carr has uncharacteristically turned ball over eight times.

Las Vegas, to paraphrase Mr. Miyagi, needs balance, Raider Nation-san. Sure, the Bad Boy Raiders have always been more Cobra Kai than Miyagi-Do, but the FPI figures and rankings don't lie -- not with an above-average offense (2.8, which ranks seventh), a terrible defense (-4.0, 30th) and a middling special-teams outfit (0.0, 21st). "To be a championship team and a playoff team," waxed Raiders coach Jon Gruden, "you have to be a good football team in all phases." No waxing on or waxing off about that logic. -- Paul Gutierrez

It's happening again. To a man, the Raiders said this team was nothing like the 2019 squad that followed a promising start with a December collapse. And yet, here we are. The Raiders have lost three of four, sandwiching Week 13's gift win over the Jets with a pair of grim blowouts in which they've surrendered 40-plus points. We know the alarm bells are blaring at Raiders headquarters, because Jon Gruden fired defensive coordinator Paul Guenther after Vegas surrendered 456 yards to the Colts and managed a single QB hit on Philip Rivers in Sunday's 44-27 loss. At 7-6, the Raiders still have a path to the playoffs if they can win out and get some help, but none of that feels remotely feasible right now. The USS Gruden is going down.
