Chicago Bears Week 4 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2021 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Here is where the Chicago Bears rank in terms of average, best and worst:

  • Average ranking: 27.0 (27th)
  • Best ranking: 25th (CBS Sports)
  • Worst ranking: 29th (NFL.com)

Below you will find a Week 4 roundup for the Bears in our consensus 2021 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 27

he Bears had better figure out how to use Justin Fields. Chicago's loss to the Browns in Week 3 was an abomination. Fields was not particularly sharp -- he completed 6 of 20 passes and was sacked nine times -- but the Bears never put him in position to succeed. With Andy Dalton sidelined due to a left knee bruise, the clock is ticking on Chicago's offense to play to Fields' considerable strengths. That did not happen on Sunday. -- Jeff Dickerson

NFL.com -- Rank: 29

The Matt Nagy era reached its nadir on Sunday. The Bears allowed rookie quarterback Justin Fields to be sacked nine times in a 26-6 loss to the Browns that featured one of the more uninspired offensive performances in recent memory. Jason Peters had no chance against Myles Garrett (4.5 sacks), as the Chicago offensive line gave Fields no opportunity to find his rhythm in a difficult environment. The defense was unable to cover for the offense, surrendering more than 5 yards per carry without forcing a turnover. Fields deserves another chance this week against the winless Lions, but Matt Nagy wouldn't commit to any QB on Monday. This coaching staff cannot get out of its own way.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 25

Andy Dalton or Justin Fields? It doesn't matter playing behind that line. The Browns maimed Fields last week, and now he's banged up.

USA Today -- Rank: 27

Rookie QB Justin Fields had 68 yards passing and lost 67 yards on nine sacks in his first regular-season start. He's good, but we've been trying to tell you he's not good enough to overcome what's NOT around him.

The Athletic -- Rank: 27

Surprise! Perhaps it shouldn't be a surprise that Chicago, forever a quarterback desert, has botched its approach to the game's most important position. But it was still startling the Bears didn't have a better plan for Justin Fields as he made his first start against the Browns.
