Throughout the 2021 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.
Here is where the New York Jets rank in terms of average, best and worst:
- Average ranking: 29.6 (29th)
- Best ranking: 29 (Multiple)
- Worst ranking: 31 (CBS Sports)
Below you will find a Week 17 roundup for the Jets in our consensus 2021 NFL Power Rankings.
ESPN -- Rank: 30
Non-QB MVP: RB Michael Carter
The rookie, who quickly emerged as the Jets' RB1, has a team-high 865 yards from scrimmage -- 25th among NFL running backs -- and he missed three games. He is ninth in yards per touch (5.2) among league running backs with a minimum of 100 touches. More importantly, Carter's two most productive games came in two of the Jets' four wins. Steady MLB C.J. Mosley warrants consideration, but it's hard to give him the nod, considering this defense ranks 32nd in yards and points allowed. -- Rich Cimini

Zach Wilson dodged a pack of Jaguars pass rushers and broke into the open field, deking out a defender near the sideline before completing his unlikely journey to the end zone. The 52-yard touchdown was the longest rushing score by a quarterback in Jets history and a reminder of the dynamic athleticism possessed by the No. 2 overall pick. Wilson's rookie season has been difficult, but his elusiveness is undeniable and the arm talent is still very much there. Wilson has the tools to be special -- it's on the young QB and his team to find a way to put it all together.
CBS Sports -- Rank: 31
They beat the Jaguars with a lot of guys out and their head coach out with COVID. It wasn't pretty, but they'll take it.
USA Today -- Rank: 29
Braxton Berrios is the very rare player New York took from New England's scrap heap and turned into a valuable contributor. He has a career-best 38 receptions in 2021 and leads the league with 30.7 yards per kickoff return.
The Athletic -- Rank: 29
Is he The Guy? Yes. We need a little optimism this low in the rankings, so we are giving Zach Wilson our full support. Did anyone even notice that the rookie ran for 91 yards in Sunday's win over the Jaguars? Wait, you didn't even watch the Jets-Jaguars highlights?
