Miami Dolphins Post-Draft 2023 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a post-draft roundup for the Miami Dolphins in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 6

Most improved: Defense

Miami took an underperforming, albeit banged-up, defense from a season ago and upgraded in the form of newly hired defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and former All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

Adding linebacker David Long Jr. could prove to be the under-the-radar signing of the year as he helps solidify the middle of the Dolphins' defense. With Fangio at the helm and young talent at every level, Miami could push for top-10 production on both sides of the ball in 2023.

NFL.com -- Rank: 10

The Dolphins didn't have a first-round pick, thanks to their Tom Brady yacht shenanigans -- in fact, their four total picks were the fewest of any team in the league this year. When their turn finally came on Friday, the Fins decided to add another intriguing talent to their high-profile cornerback room. South Carolina cover man Cam Smith isn't about to steal playing time from Jalen Ramsey or Xavien Howard, but he will almost certainly have an immediate role in Vic Fangio's zone-coverage scheme. If Smith makes strides as a rookie, he could push Ramsey or Howard out of the lineup in 2024.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 9

As long as Tua Tagovailoa stays healthy, they will be good on offense. The defense has improved by adding Jalen Ramsey on the corner. The problem is the division is brutal.

USA Today -- Rank: 15

QB Tua Tagovailoa better be prepared to deliver in Year 4, because HC Mike McDaniel and GM Chris Grier have put a first-rate supporting cast around him.

The Athletic -- Rank: 10

Draft takeaway: Despite having only four picks, the Dolphins still managed to add some juice, with third-round running back Devon Achane offering more explosive speed to an offense that already feels like the league's fastest, and second-round cornerback Cam Smith able to compete for a role early on.

Hype man: Seriously, there is no defense in football that will be able to run with us over 60 minutes. And our coach is mad funny.

DeShon Downer: I don't know if I can handle the cognitive dissonance of rooting for Tua Tagovailoa when I really think he'd be better off not playing football.

PFF -- Rank: 11

The Dolphins retained a decent chunk of their roster this offseason, as you can see in the graphic below, but also traded for cornerback Jalen Ramsey and signed linebacker David Long. After adding those defensive playmakers, they turned most of their attention to fortifying their offense in the draft by selecting running back Devon Achane, tight end Elijah Higgins and offensive tackle Ryan Hayes.

If Tua Tagovailoa can stay healthy, Miami may be a force to be reckoned with in the AFC East.

PFT -- Rank: 8

Slight edge over the Jets counting on two big things happening: Tua Tagovailoa being healthy for 15 games and new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio markedly improving the league's 24th-ranked scoring defense.
