Tampa Bay Buccaneers Post-Draft 2023 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a post-draft roundup for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 30

Most improved: The future

Much like the Packers, it's unrealistic for the Bucs to get better immediately after losing one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time and other prominent players. But they made some intriguing moves, like bringing in Baker Mayfield to compete with Kyle Trask and they hired a longtime Pete Carroll assistant in offensive coordinator in Dave Canales and a highly respected defensive mind in veteran assistant George Edwards.

And aside from not getting an offensive tackle in this year's draft, they made really solid selections top to bottom. 2023 won't be their year, but these players can all grow into their roles and have success down the road.

The Buccaneers are serious about this Baker Mayfield thing, huh? Tampa Bay chose not to address the quarterback position with its eight picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, setting up a summertime camp battle between Mayfield -- the No. 1 overall pick-turned-journeyman -- and former second-round choice Kyle Trask. It's not a situation that inspires an enormous amount of confidence, but it's worth remembering that Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are still around to help things along as much as they can. First-round pick Calijah Kancey continues a trend in Tampa Bay, becoming the third defensive tackle in six years to be selected with the Bucs' top choice. They have a type.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 24

They think Baker Mayfield can get them to nine wins, which might win the division. They definitely added some much needed speed in the draft.

USA Today -- Rank: 28

Seems like they won't have much of a shot week to week if they don't limit the opposition to 17 points.

The Athletic -- Rank: 31

Draft takeaway: Calijah Kancey is a fun bet, and playing next to Vita Vea seems ideal for him, but plowing ahead with Mayfield and Kyle Trask at quarterback really is a special kind of bold.

Hype man: Add Cody Mauch to our offensive line and we have the makings of one of the best in the league. Maybe Mayfield's no Tom Brady, but there are enough weapons on the outside to keep us in the mix — and the defense could be special again if healthy.

Devin Downer: Last year's games were so boring. At least maybe we'll be bad in a funny way this season.

PFF -- Rank: 21

The Bucs traded Shaq Mason in the offseason, and while they signed Matt Feiler to potentially replace him, they still needed at least one more interior offensive lineman in the draft. Mauch can be that guy. His size also offers the Bucs inside-outside flexibility, if necessary, and if they choose to play him at tackle to replace Donovan Smith, it would match what he played in college at North Dakota State.

On the defensive side, Tampa Bay was willing to look past Pittsburgh interior defender Calijah Kancey's short arms and instead focus on his outstanding production in 2022. Kancey's 92.4 pass-rush grade and 18.1% pressure rate led all FBS interior defenders in 2022, and his 22.7% pass-rush win rate ranked second. With massive nose tackle Vita Vea commanding the attention of opposing offensive lines, Kancey may have landed in an ideal spot. The Bucs further beefed up their pass rush by adding Louisville edge defender YaYa Diaby, an athletic, high-motor prospect who may be raw but has exciting potential.

PFT -- Rank: 31

Well, the Super Bowl was still worth it.
