2018 Fantasy Football PPR Mock Draft: 16 Teams, 3rd Pick

As the saying goes, practice makes perfect. While we may not be able to draft a "perfect" fantasy football team, the more we practice, the better our teams will be.

Starting on July 7th, we began drafting (at least) one fantasy football team per day using the 2018 Fantasy Football Mock Draft Simulator and we will continue to do so up until the start of the 2018 NFL season.

Each day, we will switch things up -- e.g., PPR vs. standard scoring, league size, draft slot, 2-QB leagues, auction leagues, etc.

In addition, we will centralize links to our daily fantasy football mock drafts for an easy way to keep track of our mock drafts.

Details of today's mock draft:
  • Scoring: Point-per-reception (PPR) scoring
  • # of Teams: 16
  • Draft Slot: 3
  • Starters: QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, Flex (RB/WR/TE), K, DST
  • Bench Size: 6

With that said, here are the results of today's mock draft:

1.03 - David Johnson, RB, Arizona Cardinals: Missing all but part of Week 1 last year, Johnson is two seasons removed from 2,118 yards from scrimmage, 80 catches and 20 touchdowns. The ambitious goals he set for himself in 2017 -- 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards -- remain his goals for 2018. The order may be debatable, but Johnson is a top-four fantasy back along side Todd Gurley, Le'Veon Bell and Ezekiel Elliott.

2.14 - T.Y. Hilton, WR, Indianapolis Colts: Failing to reach the 1,000-yard mark for the first time since his rookie season, the new offense and return of Andrew Luck bodes well for Hilton, who led the NFL with 1,448 receiving yards in 2016.

3.03 - Doug Baldwin, WR, Seattle Seahawks: Falling just shy of the 1,000-yard mark last season, Baldwin has 247/3,188/29 over the past three seasons and has finished as the WR7, WR10 and WR13, respectively, in standard-scoring formats over the past three seasons. There was some concern about Baldwin's status for Week 1 earlier on, but Carroll says that he "should be" available for the season opener.

4.14 - Michael Crabtree, WR, Baltimore Ravens: As part of a 1-2 punch with Amari Cooper in Oakland, Crabtree now becomes his team's clear No. 1 wideout. Over the past three seasons, Crabtree has 25 touchdowns -- eight-plus in each of the past three seasons.

5.03 - Rex Burkhead, RB, New England Patriots: Burkhead scored eight touchdowns (in 10 games) as he rushed for 264 yards and added 30 catches for 254 yards in his debut season with the Patriots. Even though the Patriots used a first-round pick on Sony Michel, Burkhead currently tops the depth chart and has been my highest-ranked Patriots running back all summer.

6.14 - Nelson Agholor, WR, Philadelphia Eagles: In a breakout campaign, Agholor's 2017 numbers (62/768/8) exceeded his production from the previous two season's combined. Agholor finished as a top-25 fantasy receiver in 2017 in both PPR and standard-scoring formats. Especially if Alshon Jeffery misses any games to start the season, Agholor has a chance to do what he did last season.

7.03 - Kirk Cousins, QB, Washington Redskins: Finishing as fantasy's QB8, QB5 and QB7 over the past three seasons, respectively, Cousins has thrown for 4,000-plus yards and 25-plus touchdowns in each of those seasons. In addition, he has rushed for at least four scores in three consecutive seasons. Now playing for a Super Bowl contender and a defensive-minded head coach, Cousins may not put up the same level of production he had in Washington, but he remains a top-12 fantasy option as he switches teams.

8.14 - Chris Carson, RB, Seattle Seahawks: A sleeper pick in 2017, Carson was off to a promising start, but he missed the final 12 games. Even though the Seahawks drafting Rashaad Penny in the first round has held some back from touting Carson as a breakout candidate in 2018, the second-year back has sat atop the team's depth chart since the start of camp.

9.03 - George Kittle, TE, San Francisco 49ers: Ending the season with a bang, Kittle had four catches for 100 yards in Week 17 against the Rams and he finished his rookie campaign with 43/515/2. Among rookie tight ends, only New York's Evan Engram had more receptions or yards. With the potential to break out, Kittle is a back-end TE1 in 12-team leagues for 2018.

10.14 - Austin Ekeler, RB, Los Angeles Chargers: Finishing as a top-50 fantasy back in 2017, Ekeler has a reasonable chance to do so again as MG3's backup. As a rookie, Ekeler had 539 YFS, 27 catches, 5.5 YPC and five TDs.

11.03 - O.J. Howard, TE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Bucs used the 19th-overall pick on Howard, who slipped further than most expected in the 2017 NFL Draft. Even though Brate was more involved in the passing game, Howard played more snaps than Brate as a rookie. Howard's role as a receiver should expand in his sophomore campaign. Both are on the TE1/TE2 border.

12.14 - Taywan Taylor, WR, Tennessee Titans: A popular sleeper pick, Taylor has generated plenty of buzz this summer.

13.03 - Donte Moncrief, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars: Still only 25 years old, Moncrief received a one-year, $9.6 million deal from the Jaguars in free agency. Limited due to injuries (11 missed games over the past two seasons), Moncrief has an impressive combination of size and athleticism and will likely start opposite Marqise Lee.

14.14 - Pittsburgh Steelers D/ST

15.03 - Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas Cowboys: Through his first two NFL seasons, Prescott has finished as fantasy's QB6 and QB9, respectively. Even though Prescott and Dez Bryant never seemed to get on the same page, the Dez-less Cowboys seriously lack talent amongst their group of pass-catchers. Rushing for 12 touchdowns in two seasons, Prescott's dual-threat abilities help to raise his floor, but it's likely he finishes outside the top-10 fantasy quarterbacks for the first time in his young career.

16.14 - Graham Gano, K, Carolina Panthers
