New Orleans Saints Week 14 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2020 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Here is where the New Orleans Saints rank in terms of average, best and worst:

  • Average ranking: 2.6 (3rd)
  • Best ranking: 2nd (Multiple)
  • Worst ranking: 3rd (The Athletic)

Below you will find a Week 14 roundup for the Saints in our consensus 2020 NFL Power Rankings.

The Athletic -- Rank: 3

Best-case scenario: Drew Brees returns healthy and refreshed, and they earn the top seed in the NFC. The Saints are somehow 8-0 without Brees over the last two seasons, but they'll need him to make a Super Bowl run. As of this writing, it's unclear when Brees will return. The Saints are 7.5-point favorites at Philadelphia in Week 14. But they've got a big matchup looming the following week at home against the Chiefs. If New Orleans loses to Kansas City and the Packers win out, Green Bay would get the first-round bye.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 3

Taysom Hill went 3-0 in his three starts and did some good things. But it should be back to Drew Brees this week.

USA Today -- Rank: 2

Feels like their nine-game winning streak has been devoid of fanfare -- odder still given they haven't really had their complete arsenal for any of it. That should change very soon with QB Drew Brees' return seemingly imminent.

ESPN -- Rank: 3

Person with most at stake: QB Taysom Hill

Hill probably won't get four weeks. We don't even know for sure yet that he'll get another start, depending on when Drew Brees can return from his broken ribs and punctured lung. But every audition will count for Hill as he tries to prove that he can become Brees' successor. Hill has exceeded some expectations as a pocket passer during his 3-0 stint as the Saints' starting QB, but he also has shown some inconsistency and inexperience in the role. -- Mike Triplett

NFL.com -- Rank: 2

Start No. 3 brought definitive progress for Taysom Hill. The gadget-player-turned-starting-quarterback connected on two touchdown passes (his first TD throws since his BYU days) and added 83 yards on the ground in a 21-16 win over the Falcons that clinched yet another playoff berth for New Orleans. Hill was especially impressive on third down: He went 11-for-13 for 114 yards with a TD and 128.8 passer rating in those pivotal situations. He did it by climbing in the pocket, going through his progressions and driving throws to intermediate targets. It was positively Breesian at points. Drew Brees, by the way, could be ready to return for this Sunday's game in Philadelphia. Decisions, decisions for Sean Payton.
