Los Angeles Rams Week 14 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2020 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Here is where the Los Angeles Rams rank in terms of average, best and worst:

  • Average ranking: 6.6 (6th)
  • Best ranking: 5th (The Athletic)
  • Worst ranking: 9th (CBS Sports)

Below you will find a Week 14 roundup for the Rams in our consensus 2020 NFL Power Rankings.

The Athletic -- Rank: 5

Best-case scenario: They continue to scheme up the offense for Jared Goff. At this point, we know what we're getting from the Rams' defense. It's one of the best in the league. Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey are both legitimate Defensive Player of the Year candidates. The offense has been far more up and down. Against the Cardinals, Goff's average pass traveled just 3.5 yards past the line of scrimmage -- the lowest average of any Week 13 starter. Yet he still threw for 351 yards. The Rams' 253 yards after the catch were second most by a team in a single game this season. It was a coaching clinic from Sean McVay on how to help a quarterback succeed. The Rams need more of that to be a Super Bowl contender. One note on seeding: If you're the Rams, would you rather win the NFC West and host the Bucs or Seahawks, or finish with the five seed and play on the road against the NFC East champ?

CBS Sports -- Rank: 9

Sean McVay did a nice job getting his team to bounce back against Arizona after a bad loss last week. They lead the NFC West.

USA Today -- Rank: 6

They're averaging 30.5 yards more per game on the ground in 2020 than they did last year, when RB Todd Gurley led a less-diverse backfield.

ESPN -- Rank: 7

Person with most at stake: LT Joe Noteboom

The Rams selected Noteboom with a third-round pick in 2018 with the expectation that he would learn under veteran lineman Andrew Whitworth and eventually take over at left tackle. But Whitworth played the duration of his three-year contract he signed in 2017, then inked a new three-year extension over the offseason, leaving Noteboom's future -- at least at left tackle -- uncertain. With Whitworth on injured reserve because of a knee injury, Noteboom has the chance over the final four games to prove he can play left tackle in the NFL, whether that be with the Rams or elsewhere, as his contract expires after the 2021 season. -- Lindsey Thiry

NFL.com -- Rank: 6

"I responded exactly how I expected to." Jared Goff sounded like a vindicated man after his 351-yard, two-touchdown, zero turnover performance in a win over the Cardinals on Sunday moved the Rams back into first place in the NFC West. Goff's three-turnover meltdown against the 49ers in Week 12 prompted a public admonishment from Sean McVay. His showing against the Cardinals was the best possible response from the veteran passer. The Rams are the reverse of the Seahawks: With a dominant defense, they just need their offense to be average or a little better to thrive. If Goff stays in this groove, the Rams can beat anybody in the NFC.
