New York Jets Week 6 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 6 roundup for the New York Jets in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 24

Fantasy surprise: RB Dalvin Cook

Not a good surprise. Cook has been ineffective in the running game, with no touchdowns and only 97 yards in five games. The Jets' plan was to lean on Cook in the early portion of the season, giving Breece Hall more time to recover from last year's knee surgery. Cook didn't maximize his chances and now Hall's clearly the RB. Cook has only 44 touches and it would be surprising if that rate increases. -- Rich Cimini

NFL.com -- Rank: 19

The Jets took the pitch count off of Breece Hall, and boom: He ran for a career-high 177 yards and looked incredible in the open field against Denver. The defense was a little hot and cold, but almost everything after halftime was terrific. That unit has the potential to be more consistently dominant, and statements like the late scoop-and-score can help elevate the swagger. Zach Wilson does a lot of little things well, sometimes very well. But two mistakes in high-leverage situations cost the Jets points against the Broncos, as did the other red-zone breakdowns. It wasn't a discouraging performance, but New York must find ways to get Garrett Wilson more involved. Hall and peak Garrett Wilson make the Jets dangerous.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 25

Winning on the road at Denver is a good look for Zach Wilson. He wasn't great, but Breece Hall was with a big rushing game.

USA Today -- Rank: 21

Only 12 games into his career, he hardly has enough totes to qualify — but if he did, Breece Hall's 6.3 yards per carry would be a record among RBs. Unfortunately, could be hard to sustain that with OL Alijah Vera-Tucker (Achilles) headed to injured reserve.

The Athletic -- Rank: 26

The new guy of the day in New York is first-year offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who was made a team captain before the game and given a game ball after the game Sunday because the Jets got some measure of revenge against Broncos head coach Sean Payton, who belittled Hackett in the offseason. The whole thing was proof that New York will come up with anything to find a reason to smile. A reason to frown? First-round pick Will McDonald (No. 15) has played fewer than 15 percent of the snaps on the defensive line.

FOX -- Rank: 25

Against all odds, are the Jets discovering a winning formula? Sure, the Broncos are bad, and we'd do well to remember that, but it carries extra weight knowing the Jets are a week removed from hanging tough against Kansas City. Like we said last week, this level of play is enough to make them feisty in a lot of matchups.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 22

Breece Hall will have to play well with stacked boxes against defenses much, much better than the 2023 Broncos, but he looked great on Sunday. Hall had 177 yards and his 72-yard touchdown run was the turning point in a win. Hall at least gives the Jets a path to a somewhat competent offense.

PFT -- Rank: 21

Just when they were as down as they could get, they're up.
