2018 Fantasy Football TE Waiver-Wire Options Heading Into Week 3

Every week, we examine players that may be available on your league's waiver wire that could help your team in the short and/or long term.

For a player to be listed, he must be owned in 50 percent (or less) of Yahoo! leagues. The goal is to provide recommendations of players that have a greater chance of being available on your league's waiver wire. Of course, your league's size and settings could significantly impact whether these players (or better options) are available in your particular league(s).

With that said, here are some tight end waiver-wire options that I like heading into Week 3 (Yahoo! ownership in parenthesis):

1. Austin Hooper, Atlanta Falcons (17 percent)

Hooper caught all five of his targets in Week 2 for 59 yards and a touchdown. Like most/all of the options on this list, Hooper is a TD-dependent option. The good news is that the Saints-Falcons Week 3 matchup could turn into a shootout (54-point over-under) that leads to plenty of streaming appeal.

2. Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Jacksonville Jaguars (32 percent)

Seferian-Jenkins has exactly three receptions and five targets in back-to-back games with 25 yards or less. The difference between Week 2 (from Week 1) is that his touchdown wasn't called back. There are not many inspiring options in the under-50% ownership category, but ASJ remains a TD-dependent streamer.

3. Ricky Seals-Jones, Arizona Cardinals (27 percent)

The Cardinals offense has been terrible. Absolutely terrible. After all, starting quarterback Sam Bradford has 243 passing yards ... through two games. Larry Fitzgerald (15) leads the team in targets, but Seals-Jones (12) currently ranks second in that category. Averaging 6.0 targets per game is equivalent to a 96-target pace, something only seven tight ends had in 2017. Perhaps that volume will lead to more than 18.0 yards per game at some point in the season.

4. Jesse James, Pittsburgh Steelers (10 percent)

Going into Monday Night Football, no tight end has scored more fantasy points (standard-scoring) than James (TE2 in PPR). Even with Vance McDonald returning in Week 2, James hauled in five receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown. Considering I expect McDonald to score more fantasy points than James going forward, I have James ranked relatively low on this list of mediocre options.

5. Jake Butt, Denver Broncos (three percent)

Butt had four catches for 48 yards on six targets in Week 2 and now has 10 targets through the team's first two games. If Butt continues to average five-plus targets per game, he'll have the chance to perform as a high-end TE2. For now, he's worth a look in deeper leagues.

2018 Fantasy Football TE Waiver-Wire Options Heading Into Week 2

Every week, we examine players that may be available on your league's waiver wire that could help your team in the short and/or long term.

For a player to be listed, he must be owned in 50 percent (or less) of Yahoo! leagues. The goal is to provide recommendations of players that have a greater chance of being available on your league's waiver wire. Of course, your league's size and settings could significantly impact whether these players (or better options) are available in your particular league(s).

With that said, here are some tight end waiver-wire options that I like heading into Week 2 (Yahoo! ownership in parenthesis):

1. Eric Ebron, Indianapolis Colts (32 percent)

In terms of his fantasy production, it was an excellent Colts debut for Ebron. The 25-year-old tight end hauled in four-of-five targets for 51 yards and a touchdown. While I'd still prefer Jack Doyle over Ebron amongst Colts tight ends, both will have a chance to flirt with back-end TE1 production on a weekly and full-season basis. If you own Delanie Walker (out for the season) or Greg Olsen (in walking boot and likely to miss many games), Ebron would be my preferred add of the week among tight ends available in at least half of fantasy leagues.

2. Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Jacksonville Jaguars (34 percent)

His Week 1 could have been much better as his 10-yard touchdown was called back, but he finished with three catches for 25 yards on five targets. Like most tight end options on the waiver wire, however, ASJ will be a TD-dependent fantasy contributor most weeks. That said, it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up leading the Jaguars in targets in 2018.

3. Ben Watson, New Orleans Saints (39 percent)

In his return to the Saints, Watson hauled in all four of his targets for 44 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bucs. Given the high-powered nature of the Drew Brees-led offense, there will be plenty of weeks where Watson is worth streaming. The 37-year-old tight end had his best season (74/825/6) during his last year (2015) with the Saints.

4. Ricky Seals-Jones, Arizona Cardinals (29 percent)

After Larry Fitzgerald (10) and David Johnson (nine), Seals-Jones (six) had the next-most targets for the Cardinals on Sunday. While he finished with just three catches for 19 yards, he should remain involved enough in passing offense to return mid-TE2 value.

5. Will Dissly, Seattle Seahawks (1 percent)

Beginning his career with 105 yards and a touchdown, his rookie season is likely all downhill from here. In other words, there's virtually no chance that Dissly has a better game in any other game this season. Perhaps he has a couple more fantasy-relevant performances this season, but there's no way to know with confidence when they will occur so he's better left on the waiver wire.

Jacksonville Jaguars 2018 Fantasy Football Projections

In addition to viewing our 2018 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

Below you will find our 2018 fantasy football projections for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In an ideal world (according to Doug Marrone), Bortles may not throw a single pass all season. In his first full season as head coach, however, the Jags were perfectly balanced -- 527 pass attempts and 527 rush attempts -- with Bortles throwing it more than 100 times less in 2017 than 2016. Despite five interceptions in the last two regular-season games, Bortles played extremely well down the stretch with multiple passing scores and 300-plus yards in three of the four games through Week 16. Over the past three seasons, Bortles has finished as the QB4 (2015), QB10 (2016) and QB13 (2017) and he has the potential to once again outperform his ADP.

Missing three games as a rookie, Fournette was less than 100 percent for several others but managed to finish as fantasy's RB8 (RB10 in PPR) in Jacksonville's run-first scheme. Down to his lowest weight (223 pounds) since high school, Fournette's drop in weight should help with explosiveness and durability. An NFL rushing champion-to-be based on my statistical projections, Fournette could be even more involved in the passing game in 2018 as well.

With the season-ending injury to Marqise Lee, Cole should be the team's most-productive fantasy wide receiver.

Biggest Weekly Risers in Fantasy Football ADP

Every Sunday, we post an update in players that have had the biggest moves — both up and down — in fantasy football average draft position (ADP) from the previous week.

With this information, we can get a better sense of changes in the collective perceptions of fantasy football owners (mock drafters); in essence, it's a version of fantasy football stock up/down for players. If a player is moving up the ADP chart, it may lead us to using a higher pick than his current ADP to make sure we secure a targeted/coveted player.

Of course, a player's ADP (and movement) is just one (small) piece in determining who to draft and our strategy used to assemble a fantasy roster.

For purposes of our comparison, we will use ADP data from 12-team mock drafts from Fantasy Football Calculator:

2018 Fantasy Football Projections: Jacksonville Jaguars

In an ideal world (according to Doug Marrone), Bortles may not throw a single pass all season. In Marrone's first full season as head coach, however, the Jags were balanced -- 527 pass attempts and 527 rush attempts -- with Bortles throwing it more than 100 times less in 2017 than 2016. Despite five interceptions in the last two regular-season games, Bortles played extremely well down the stretch with multiple passing scores and 300-plus yards in three of the four games through Week 16. Over the past three seasons, Bortles has finished as the QB4 (2015), QB10 (2016) and QB13 (2017) and he has the potential to once again outperform his ADP.
