Our Fantasy Football Projections will be viewable by both position and team.

Below you will find our 2023 fantasy football projections for the Indianapolis Colts.

QUARTERBACKS

PlayerAtt.Comp.YardsTDINTRushYardsTDPoints
Anthony Richardson475.8284.53330.618.3214.51119690.24.64274.34
Gardner Minshew44.227.53161.990.997.920.50.1621.63

Anthony Richardson: Indianapolis was arguably the ideal landing spot for Richardson. After all, new coach Shane Steichen tailored Philadelphia's offense to best suit the skill set of Jalen Hurts. Ups and downs should be expected for Richardson, but his elite athletic profile gives him enormous rushing upside from the start.

RUNNING BACKS

PlayerAtt.YardsTDRec.YardsTDPoints
Jonathan Taylor230.71072.87.1530.9238.91.1196.12
Zack Moss70.5310.21.6910.3820.456.91
Deon Jackson56.4236.91.2115116.70.653.72
Evan Hull15.466.20.343.427.30.214.29

Jonathan Taylor: When healthy and happy, Taylor has RB1 overall upside. After all, he's just two seasons removed from finishing as fantasy football's RB1. Beyond what he can do on the football field, however, it's been a summer full of concerns — requesting a trade, leaving and returning to camp (multiple times), PUP list, etc. Another concern is the potential for Anthony Richardson to steal carries from Taylor, who also may see fewer checkdowns if Richardson tucks it and runs when plays break down.

Zack Moss: Given the current tension between Taylor and the team, it potentially opens up significant opportunities for the team's other backs. Moss should be the team's RB2 (RB1 if Taylor misses time) when he's healthy, but he's currently out with a broken arm. His timetable puts his return close to Week 1.

Deon Jackson: Jackson had five games with double-digit touches in 2022 including one with double-digit carries (12) and double-digit receptions (10) in Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. There is a non-zero chance that Jackson has a sizable Week 1 role against the Jaguars, given the uncertainty currently surrounding Taylor and Moss.

WIDE RECEIVERS

PlayerRec.YardsTDRushYardsTDPoints
Michael Pittman Jr.72.7920.85.14.437.40.18163.85
Alec Pierce47.4661.93.5000110.89

Isaiah McKenzie21.22481.56.736.20.3450.06
Breshad Perriman343.80.20007.08

Michael Pittman Jr.: Pittman set a career high in receptions (99) while averaging a career low in Y/R (9.3) in 2022. While he should lead the receiving corps across the board, fantasy managers should expect some week-to-week inconsistency from Pittman as his rookie quarterback adjusts to the NFL.

Alec Pierce: As noted with Pittman, the offense (and passing game in particular) will likely go through some growing pains, and week-to-week inconsistency is reasonable to expect from Indy's pass catchers. That said, the former second-round pick has the potential to build upon last year's solid rookie numbers (41/593/2, 14.5 Y/R). Both Pierce and Anthony Richardson's strengths align in the vertical passing game, which makes Pierce an intriguing late-round stack with Richardson in best ball formats.

TIGHT ENDS

PlayerRec.YardsTDRushYardsTDPoints

Mo Alie-Cox12145.90.900025.99
Will Mallory5.158.30.400010.78

Jelani Woods: Woods is an outstanding athlete (4.61 40-yard dash) for someone his size (6-7, 259) and he heads into his second season with some sleeper appeal. Shane Steichen is less likely to spread tight end snaps around the way that Frank Reich has in the past, and Woods should be the biggest benefactor. As the IndyStar notes, "Woods is the only Indianapolis tight end who's shown he has the athleticism to stretch the field the way [Dallas] Goedert can."

Ups and downs should be expected for Richardson, but his elite athletic profile gives him enormous rushing upside from the start. Fantasy Football Week 3 QB Waiver Wire

Every week, we examine players that may be available on your league's waiver wire that could help your team in the short and/or long term.

For a player to be listed, he must be owned in 50 percent (or less) of Yahoo! leagues. The goal is to provide recommendations of players that have a greater chance of being available on your league's waiver wire. Of course, your league's size and settings could significantly impact whether these players (or better options) are available in your particular league(s).

With that said, here are some running back waiver-wire options to consider heading into Week 3 (Yahoo! % rostered in parenthesis):

[Note: Players listed below are sorted by my preference to add.]

1. Gardner Minshew II, Jacksonville Jaguars (32 percent)

While Jacksonville entered the 2020 season as the odds-on favorite to win the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes, Minshew is doing his best to keep Lawrence out of Duval County. One week after a nearly-flawless outing to upset the Colts, the second-year quarterback nearly pulled off another upset against the Titans and enters Week 3 as a favorite over the Dolphins on Thursday Night Football.

In his two starts, Minshew has tossed three touchdowns in each game and has now scored more than 20 fantasy points in back-to-back games. He finished as fantasy's QB11 in Week 1 and he's currently the QB12 for Week 2 heading into Monday Night Football. Counting his 14 games as a rookie, Minshew has compiled a career 27-to-eight TD-INT ratio over 16 NFL games.

Perhaps the most underrated aspect of his game is his rushing ability. While the numbers so far this year aren't gaudy (19 rushing yards in both games), that's a 304-yard pace over a full season. Rushing for a similar number (344 rushing yards) in 2019, only four quarterbacks -- Lamar Jackson (1,206), Kyler Murray (544), Josh Allen (510) and Deshaun Watson (413) -- rushed for more than Minshew last season.

The Dolphins have allowed 10.59 Y/A and a 7.41 TD%, the most and fourth-most, respectively, to opposing quarterbacks this season through Sunday's games.

+ More: Jacksonville Jaguars Mock Draft Roundup

2. Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans (46 percent)

The Titans are a run-first team, so there's always the potential that Tannehill won't have the opportunity to sling all over the yard. In fact, he threw it only 24 times on Sunday, but last year's NFL Comeback Player of the Year averaged nearly 10.0 Y/A (9.96) and connected for a score on one-quarter of his pass attempts against the Jags despite missing stud second-year receiver A.J. Brown.

Tannehill gets a favorable Week 3 matchup against the Vikings. who have allowed 8.38 Y/A (seventh-most) and a 7.25 TD% (fifth-most).

3. Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears (7 percent)

Trubisky had a much better fantasy performance in Week 1 (24.28, QB7) than he's had in Week 2 (13.2, currently QB22). That said, the much-maligned quarterback has thrown five touchdowns in the first two weeks of the season and has the ability to make plays with his legs.

Furthermore, the Bears will face the Falcons in Week 3 and no team has allowed more fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks through Sunday Night Football. Granted, Trubisky is no Russell Wilson (Week 1) or Dak Prescott (Week 2), but Trubisky offers some streamer appeal for those in deeper leagues.

In addition to viewing our 2020 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

PlayerAtt.Comp.YardsTDINTRushYardsTDPoints
Gardner Minshew547.9347.93862.724.668.77552420.83264.79
While the Jags are the early favorites to win the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes, there is little competition for Minshew in 2020. As a rookie, Minshew threw for 3,271 yards, 21 touchdowns and six interceptions. An underrated aspect of his game is his rushing ability as Minshew averaged 5.1 YPC and gained 344 yards on the ground. Only four quarterbacks -- Lamar Jackson (1,206), Kyler Murray (544), Josh Allen (510) and Deshaun Watson (413) -- rushed for more.

RUNNING BACKS

PlayerAtt.YardsTDRec.YardsTDPoints
Leonard Fournette220.1913.46.4946.1331.90.81168.33
While he only scored three touchdowns in 2019, Fournette ranked third in the NFL in touches (341) and converted his 100 targets into 76 catches for 522 yards. Despite the lack of touchdowns, he was the only player in the league to get 100% of his team's carries inside the five.
Chris Thompson31.4127.20.6340.9321.12.0560.91
Reunited with Jay Gruden, Thompson has at least 35 receptions in five consecutive seasons, but he has also missed five or more games in each of the past three years. While durability has been a challenge for Thompson, the third-down back has averaged 3.43 receptions per game (equivalent to 54.93 per 16 games) over that five-year stretch.

WIDE RECEIVERS

PlayerRec.YardsTDRushYardsTDPoints
D.J. Chark72.7992.46.91214.40.04142.38
Chark broke out in 2019 with 73 catches (on 118 targets) for 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns. With a new offensive coordinator (Jay Gruden), can Shark build upon his 2019 breakout in his age-24 season?
Dede Westbrook59616.63.694.930.40.187.44
With exactly 101 targets and 66 receptions in back-to-back seasons, Westbrook has averaged a consistent-but-mediocre 44.0 YPG (2019) and 44.8 YPG (2018) as well. Westbrook was the WR45 (half-PPR scoring) last year and is a low-upside option with a little more appeal in PPR formats compared to non-PPR leagues.
Laviska Shenault42.5499.43.7216.790.20.6785.3
Built more like a running back than a wide receiver, Shenault is dangerous in the open field and has drawn praise from his quarterback. "Laviska is a freak, man. I knew it when we played him at Colorado," Minshew said. "He’s a lot better route runner, a lot better at catching the ball than I even expected."
Chris Conley33.74603.0300064.18
Conley either set or tied previous career highs with 47 receptions for 775 yards and five touchdowns. While Conley averaged a career-high 16.5 Y/R, he had a career-low catch rate (52.2%).

Collin Johnson2.430.60.240004.5

TIGHT ENDS

PlayerRec.YardsTDRushYardsTDPoints
Tyler Eifert404503.600066.6
After playing just 14 games in the previous three seasons combined, Eifert played a full 16-game slate in 2019 and finished with 43 catches for 436 yards and three touchdowns. If he is able to put together another healthy season (granted, a big if), Eifert has the potential to flirt with top-12 numbers in Jay Gruden's TE-friendly offense.
James O'Shaughnessy16.8165.51.0100022.61
With Josh Oliver breaking his foot and Eifert's shaky durability history, O'Shaughnessy, who's returning from a torn ACL himself, could have some streamer appeal if Eifert misses any time in 2020. O'Shaughnessy was the TE13 through Week 5 (when he tore his ACL) last season.
