Russell Wilson: Wilson's debut season with the Broncos was a flop. He set career lows in completion percentage (60.5%), TDs/TD% (16, 3.3%) and passer rating (84.4). From Weeks 1 to 13, Wilson had only one top-12 weekly performance (Week 4), but he exceeded 24 fantasy points in three of his final four games in 2022. Transitioning to Sean Payton's offense improves optimism about Wilson's 2023 outlook (just ask Payton himself), but he is better drafted as a fantasy QB2.

Javonte Williams: Handling seven touches including four receptions in Week 2 of the preseason, Williams (knee) described getting tackled as "the biggest hurdle ... left with the whole recovery process." Returning to game action this quickly after tearing multiple ligaments is extremely impressive, to say the least. Through 21 career games, Williams has 250 carries for 1,107 yards (4.4 YPC, 52.7 YPG), 59 receptions for 392 yards and a total of seven touchdowns.

Samaje Perine: Perine is poised for a "significant role" in Denver's backfield throughout the season, and potentially an even more significant role in the early part of the season even though Williams won't miss any regular-season games to start the year. Sean Payton has a long history of giving substantial workloads to the team's second back.

Courtland Sutton: After missing nearly all of 2020, Sutton has appeared in 32 of 34 games over the past two seasons and has averaged 61/803/2 over that time. Like with Jeudy, Sutton should benefit from the offensive coaching upgrade. Given the number of injuries including to Jeudy (hamstring), it's possible that Sutton outscores all of Denver's receivers this season.

Jerry Jeudy: Jeudy set career highs in receptions (67), yards (972) and touchdowns (six) on 100 targets over 15 games in 2022. Jeudy had 53-plus yards in 10 of his final 11 games if we exclude Week 10 (when he played only one offensive snap). During that 11-game stretch, Jeudy posted a 60/842/5 line with a 72.3% catch rate and 10.14 yards per target. Given the offseason coaching change and Jeudy's production last season when healthy, he has the potential for even better numbers in 2023. Speaking of his health, however, Jeudy is dealing with a hamstring injury that could impact his early-season availability.

Marvin Mims: Tim Patrick missed all of 2022 with a torn ACL, and unfortunately he'll now miss all of 2023 with a torn Achilles. Meanwhile, the Broncos waived KJ Hamler with an NFI designation as he tends to a heart condition (pericarditis). Now Jeudy is dealing with a hamstring injury that could potentially sideline him to open the season. The unfortunate rash of injuries to the Broncos' wide receivers opens the door for Mims, the team's second-round pick, to immediately take on a large role within the passing offense.

If he is, how close will he be to his pre-injury form and how quickly will he be able to get back to that form? Tim Patrick: Patrick missed all of 2022 after tearing his ACL in training camp. Before 2022, he had solid back-to-back seasons — 51/742/6 (WR41) and 53/734/5 (WR40) in 2020 and 2021, respectively. Russell Wilson was "most comfortable" with Patrick before the injury, and "multiple people in the building" have told NFL Network's James Palmer that Patrick is the "best football player" in the WR room.

Throughout the year and leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft, we will update our Kansas City Chiefs Mock Draft Roundup showing picks for the Kansas City Chiefs from several prominent sites and draft analysts.

The following are picks in recent mock drafts for the Chiefs:

CBS Sports - Wilson (9/7)

28. Andre Carter II, EDGE, Army

Yep, that's right, Army. Carter passes the eyeball test with flying colors, and he gets you even more excited when you see him play. The Chiefs play in the toughest division in football, in part because of the QB play. It means getting into the backfield is at a premium in the AFC West.

The Draft Network - Crabbs (9/5)

29. Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon

Kansas City loves them some toolsy corners. With the passing attacks in Denver, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, they better be sure they've got enough horses to defend the pass. Christian Gonzalez is a superb athlete who moves much smoother than a player of his size and stature probably should. Those guys don't last long.

Sporting News - Iyer (9/3)

28. Marvin Mims, WR, Oklahoma

The Chiefs have some veteran wideout concerns with rookie Skyy Moore having the most promise in the post-Tyreek Hill world of Patrick Mahomes. Mims has some Hill-like qualities with his big-play ability to be a tough-to-cover target.

SI - Hanson (8/31)

29. Jaelyn Duncan, OT, Maryland

Now entering his fourth season as Maryland's starting left tackle, Duncan has the athletic feet, balanced movements and mirroring skills to stay at left tackle at the next level. After designating Orlando Brown Jr. with the franchise tag this spring, the Chiefs were unable to work out a long-term agreement for Patrick Mahomes's blind-side protector even though they "got really close." If the Chiefs were to find themselves in a similar situation in 2023, Duncan would offer them an athletic tackle to develop as insurance.

The Athletic - Baumgardner/Tice (8/31)

30. Jordan Addison, WR, USC

Nate called me a "sicko" after this one, and why not? But as long as the Chiefs appear near the bottom of the first round and have Patrick Mahomes as their quarterback, finding a super-fun receiver to pair with their QB is going to be an entertaining draft exercise. Addison could have a lot of fun this year with Lincoln Riley in Southern California. Another name to watch here could be Florida guard O'Cyrus Torrence, if the Chiefs want to be more responsible.

The Draft Network - Weissman (8/29)

29. Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon

I was tempted to go receiver here but there wasn't one I liked enough to sneak in the first round. Instead, I'll give the Chiefs a high-upside corner to pair next to fellow Pac-12 corner Trent McDuffie.

Christian Gonzalez is a long and athletic corner who is sticky in coverage and has very good instincts. Together, he and McDuffie would be a very fun corner duo.

Pro Football Network - Fragozza (8/27)

28. Jaquelin Roy, IDL, LSU

It's been Chris Jones and a whole lot of names along the Chiefs' defensive front. And no, Frank Clark isn't more than just a name. They did select George Karlaftis in the first round last April, and he should provide a solid return on investment. Nonetheless, Jones needs a partner — or successor — on the interior.

Jaquelin Roy wins with overwhelming upper body strength at 6'4" and 215 pounds, and he was only a true sophomore last season. With further physical development, Roy could be a lock for Round 1 come the season's end.

ESPN - Reid (8/25)

23. Andre Carter II, EDGE, Army

Even after using a first-round selection on an edge rusher this past April (George Karlaftis), the Chiefs could look that way again. Carter is loose and springy off the edge and places a tremendous amount of stress on pass-protectors. Lining up primarily as a wide 9-technique, he understands how to get up the field and threaten the far hip of blockers. But Carter still has to find his way with countermoves and as a run-blocker. Army has not produced a draft pick since 2008, and the school's last first-rounder came in 1947.
