New York Giants 2021 NFL Mock Draft Roundup, 4.0

Throughout the year and leading up to the 2021 NFL draft, we will update our New York Giants Mock Draft Roundup showing picks for the New York Giants from several prominent sites and draft analysts.

The following are picks in recent mock drafts for the Giants:

EDSFootball - Kevin Hanson (1/15)

11. Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Miami (FL)

Not only is the team's top pass-rusher (Leonard Williams, 11.5 sacks) a free agent-to-be, but nose tackle Dexter Williams ranked second on the team in sacks (four).

Unlike last year with Chase Young, there isn't a slam-dunk top edge defender in this draft. Both Rousseau and Michigan's Kwity Paye will fight for that honor, but Rousseau has outstanding length and burst and was second in the nation in sacks (15.5) in 2019 behind only Ohio State's Young (16.5) before opting out of the 2020 season.

San Diego Union Tribune - Eddie Brown (1/13)

11. Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Miami (FL)

The Giants' pass rush was almost non-existent the last month of the season. It's been almost two decades since a Hurricane defensive end was taken in the first round (Jerome McDougle in 2003). Rousseau finished with 15.5 sacks in 13 games as a redshirt freshman, but opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns.

CBS Sports - Chris Trapasso (1/13)

11. Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida

The Giants could easily move on from Evan Engram and get Daniel Jones a pass-catching matchup nightmare in Pitts if he falls this far.

The Athletic - Dane Brugler (1/12)

11. Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida

One of the priorities for Dave Gettleman this offseason will be to get his quarterback more weapons. Yes, Evan Engram was named a Pro Bowler, but he is entering a contract year and Pitts can play tight end or wide receiver and create mismatches with his size, athleticism and ball skills.

The Draft Network - Joe Marino (1/7)

11. Kwity Paye, EDGE, Michigan

The Giants gained momentum as the season progressed, but they still feature an incomplete roster, especially when considering their current options at edge rusher. Paye is an ascending talent with elite physical gifts that could make him a dynamic threat off the edge for a Giants defense that is already stout on the interior.

ESPN - Todd McShay (1/7)

11. Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Miami (FL)

The Giants managed 40 sacks this season, thanks in large part to Leonard Williams bouncing back and getting 11.5 of them. But few would argue against the Giants needing edge-rushing help to take a much-improved defense to the next level, particularly if they don't return Williams, who played this season on the franchise tag. Rousseau opted out this season, but he had 15.5 sacks for the Hurricanes in 2019 and has speed and power coming around the corner. Alternatively, offensive line, wide receiver or cornerback could be areas to keep an eye on for New York.

USA Today - Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz (1/5)

11. Kwity Paye, EDGE, Michigan

After getting by with a lackluster pass rush, the Giants are due for an infusion of athleticism off the edge. With his head-turning blend of burst and power, Paye would be an immediate standout for Big Blue.

Athlon Sports - Bryan Fisher (1/5)

11. Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Miami (FL)

It's no secret that the Giants need to juice their pass rush and Rousseau fits that bill perfectly given his combination of size and speed coming off the edge. It might take a little bit for the GM and coaching staff to overlook his opt-out from the season but when they put on the tape they'll see a key piece to the G-Men's defense for years to come.
