Aaron Rodgers: Rodgers was QB19 on a per-game basis in 2024 with Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams (for 11 games). Yes, the Steelers traded for Jonnu Smith, but the receiving corps is a downgrade from what he had last year and it will be interesting to see how he and DK Metcalf mesh. While the four-time NFL Most Valuable Player will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, there's zero reason to draft Rodgers in standard (single-QB) leagues.

Tua Tagovailoa: Appearing in more than 13 games only once during his five NFL seasons, the obvious concern with Tagovailoa (in real life and fantasy) is his troubling history of concussions. Over the past three seasons, however, Tagovailoa has led the NFL in at least one different passing category — completion percentage (72.9%) in 2024, passing yards (4.624) in 2023, and TD% (6.3) and Y/A (8.9) in 2022. There's a chance he performs as a back-end QB1 if — a big if — his health cooperates, but his lack of rushing (75/193/0 since 2022) limits the upside even if he plays a full season. For example, the same year (2023) he played 17 games and led the NFL in passing yards, he finished as the QB9 in overall points (QB17 on a PPG basis).

Russell Wilson: Playing for his fourth team in five seasons, Wilson is the favorite to enter the season as the starter but unlikely to maintain that role all year. Wilson took over for Justin Fields as Pittsburgh's starter in Week 7, and he performed as fantasy's QB18 on a per-game basis among QBs with at least six appearances during that stretch. Given the Giants used a first-round pick on Dart and the team's low expectations, it would make sense to give Dart an opportunity to gain valuable game experience sooner than later.

Jaxson Dart: Even if Wilson starts more games than Dart, it's likely that the first-rounder gets some starts, especially during the most crucial time of the fantasy season. Both Wilson and Dart are off the fantasy radar in standard single-QB drafts, but the rookie has the ability to make plays with his legs and provide some fantasy upside once he gets his shot.

2025 NFL Strength of Schedule: Which teams have the easiest or most difficult schedules?

Updated: September 2, 2025

We are now only a couple of days away from Thursday Night Football and the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys kicking off the 2025 season.

How things appear in November or December may look much different than they do in September, but which team has the most difficult 2025 NFL schedule? Or the easiest schedule?

Using each NFL team's 2025 opponents, our NFL strength of schedule (SOS) tallies the win-loss records of each team's opponents (from last year) and then uses that cumulative win-loss record to rank the difficulty or ease of each team's schedule.

Based on 2024 records, no team has a more challenging schedule than the Giants. Their opponents have collectively won 57.4% of their games in 2024. Meanwhile, San Francisco's opponents have won a combined 41.5% of their 2024 games, which gives them the easiest schedule on paper.

Patrick Mahomes: Outside of his one-game rookie season, Mahomes set or tied career lows in passing yards (3,928) and touchdowns (26). Like Joe Burrow, Mahomes has enough mobility to make and extend plays, but he doesn't use it to rack up significant rushing production (307-389 rushing yards in five consecutive seasons). After finishing as a top-four fantasy quarterback in four of his first five seasons as a starter, Mahomes has finished as the QB8 and QB12, respectively, over the past two seasons. The talented trio of Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown (when healthy and active) provide hope for Mahomes to return to his previous levels of elite production.

New York Giants 2024 NFL power rankings post-draft roundup

Throughout the 2024 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a post-NFL draft roundup for the New York Giants in our consensus 2024 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 28

Most improved: Edge rusher

The Giants essentially subbed in Brian Burns for Jihad Ward, which instantly improved the unit. Burns, acquired via trade from the Carolina Panthers, ranked seventh with a 21.6% pass rush win rate in 2023. Ward, on the other hand, had a 2.3% PRWR, the second lowest of any qualifying edge rusher. -- Jordan Raanan

NFL.com -- Rank: 27

It seems like Daniel Jones received a reprieve when the Giants were unable to move up for Drake Maye on Thursday night. Jones clearly must produce this season, or the Giants will likely end up going through "90 Day Fiancé: QB Edition" again nine months from now. I give GM Joe Schoen credit for not overspending and reaching on a passer for whom he didn't have conviction. Plus, what's one of the best ways to give Jones a chance to be successful? Provide him with Malik Nabers. He's the most exciting Giants wideout since prime Odell Beckham Jr., and the two former Tigers have some overlap in their games. After a disappointing 2023 campaign, Brian Daboll needs to reverse the franchise's fortunes this season. Providing Jones with a stronger supporting cast always felt like the best route to achieve that.

MORE: 2024 NFL Strength of Schedule

CBS Sports -- Rank: 29

They passed on a quarterback in the draft, which means it's all on Daniel Jones. If he doesn't play well, there will be big changes in New York.

USA Today -- Rank: 31

Alright, Daniel Jones — here's a reinforced offensive line and an actual game-breaking wide receiver (first-rounder Malik Nabers) this team hasn't had since LSU predecessor Odell Beckham Jr. was shipped out five years ago. Make it work, bud, or we're not bypassing your replacement next year.

The Athletic -- Rank: 27

The Giants passed on an opportunity to get out of the Daniel Jones business and really shake up the draft by taking a quarterback with the sixth pick. Instead, they went with dynamic wide receiver Malik Nabers in hopes he'll help lift Jones to another level. If that doesn't work, New York can exit Jones' contract pretty easily after this year. It did bring in Drew Lock as a veteran contingency plan.

Fox Sports -- Rank: 30

My theory is the Giants are laying the groundwork for 2025. Malik Nabers is going to give their offense some much-needed juice, and they made some smart offensive line signings. But no matter how this might look with Daniel Jones or Drew Lock, I feel comfortable betting that it'll all set the stage for a new QB next year.

Way-too-early New York Giants 2025 NFL mock draft roundup

Throughout the year and leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, we will update our New York Giants Mock Draft Roundup showing picks for the New York Giants from several prominent sites and draft analysts.

The following are picks in recent mock drafts for the Giants:

Fox Sports - Rob Rang (5/3)

6. Quinn Ewers, QB, Texas

Projected by many to be replaced by celebrated signee Arch Manning, Ewers instead showed off the accuracy and grit scouts expect of a future NFL starter, improving from a 58.1% completion rate to 69% with an impressive 37-12 touchdown-to-interception ratio over his two seasons in Austin.

ESPN - Jordan Reid (5/2)

TRADE - 1. Carson Beck, QB, Georgia

The Giants showed some faith in Daniel Jones recapturing his 2022 form off his torn ACL this season by passing on the quarterbacks still on the board at No. 6 last week (although they reportedly tried to trade up for one of the top three passers). But things could change by this time next year, especially since there will be no more guaranteed money on Jones' contract.

Beck is one of the most talented QBs in the country, as he finished the 2023 season with a 72.4% completion rate (fourth best in FBS) and an 86 QBR (fifth). He was actually QB4 on my Hot Board at the end of last season and trending toward top-50 pick status before announcing that he'd return for his senior season.

MORE: 2024 NFL Strength of Schedule

San Diego Union-Tribune - Eddie Brown (5/2)

4. Carson Beck, QB, Georgia

If Daniel Jones fails to prove he can stay healthy and be a franchise QB next season, the G-Men can release him with a June 1 designation and save $30.5 million, according to Over the Cap. The only quarterbacks more valuable than Beck last season, according to Pro Football Focus, were three Heisman finalists (Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix). Beck is a precision passer with good pocket presence.

The Athletic - Dane Brugler (4/30)

6. Kelvin Banks Jr., OT, Texas

Like Campbell at LSU, Banks immediately became the starting left tackle as a true freshman and took another jump last season as a sophomore. The Longhorns offense lost several weapons, but its offensive line will be an important strength in front of QB Quinn Ewers in 2024.

PFF - Max Chadwick (4/29)

5. Carson Beck, QB, Georgia

The first quarterback comes off the board. Beck's 91.5 grade in 2023 ranked fourth among college football quarterbacks. He plays with precise timing and accuracy and could be New York's quarterback of the future with Daniel Jones seemingly on his last legs there.

The 33rd Team - Marcus Mosher (4/29)

2. Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

Shedeur Sanders was excellent in his first season at Colorado, with a 27-3 TD-interception ratio and 3,230 yards. He has a lot of the tools needed to be a top pick at the quarterback position. It would help his draft stock if he used his legs more frequently, but he is a hyper-accurate passer (69.3 percent in 2023) who plays with confidence.

USA Today - Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz (4/28)

1. Carson Beck, QB, Georgia

Unlike this point last year with Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, there's no quarterback out there who looks to be a surefire top-five pick. Beck, however, might be the front-runner to be the highest signal-caller taken — and therefore in the mix for No. 1. The 6-4, 220-pound passer stepped into his first year as a starter and took command, throwing for 3,941 yards while completing nearly 73% of his passes.

Beck's arm strength can help bring back a big-play element that has long been absent for New York with Daniel Jones at the helm. But the Georgia standout is also a precise and on-schedule operator, which should allow him to form a potent connection with 2024 first-round receiver Malik Nabers, an electric threat after the catch.

With an off ramp to Jones' contract available after this season, Big Blue could end up moving quickly to admit fault on the extension and change course. Beck might make for an attractive option to which the team could pivot, especially after reports that the team made a serious push to try to move up for Drake Maye.

CBS Sports - Ryan Wilson (4/28)

5. JT Tuimoloau, EDGE, Ohio State

JT Tuimoloau can take over games at times with his high motor, athleticism and flashes of speed to power. He'll need to play with more consistency in 2024, but he has a chance to be special.

New York Giants Week 10 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 10 roundup for the New York Giants in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 29

Non-QB MVP: DT Dexter Lawrence II

Lawrence is tied for seventh in the NFL with 14 quarterback hits. That's not supposed to happen from the nose tackle position. He has been the Giants' best and most consistent player by a wide margin, in part because almost all of their other top players have been injured at some point early this season. -- Jordan Raanan

NFL.com -- Rank: 30

With Daniel Jones' ACL tear coming in a loss to a team led by an interim head coach and rookie QB, the Giants' nightmare season has darkened even further than might have seemed possible. With Jones out indefinitely and Tyrod Taylor on injured reserve, Tommy DeVito overcame some rough early moments to put forward a respectable effort, and the run blocking helped spring Saquon Barkley to his best rushing average (5.6) of the season. But it's tough to summon too much excitement, with injuries crushing any hope of offensive growth and the reality of a high draft pick incoming. Sunday felt like the first time you could fairly have a conversation about the future under center, with Jones' long-term health clouding the picture and some tempting QB prospects possibly being within reach come April.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 30

With Daniel Jones out now with a knee injury, it's time to tank. Maybe they can get one of the top guys next year.

USA Today -- Rank: 31

You have to feel for injured QB Daniel Jones. You also have to feel like New York probably has buyer's remorse after extending him in the offseason. Now they might be one of, say, a dozen teams having to reconsider its QB1 plans going into 2024.

The Athletic -- Rank: 29

Report card: F

It's gotten so bad that the Giants aren't even fun to pick on anymore. Daniel Jones returned from a neck injury Sunday and promptly suffered a season-ending ACL tear. Backup quarterback Tommy DeVito gives New York a great chance to get into the top-two pick conversation, but would the Giants take a quarterback high after giving Jones a big contract in the offseason? The answer is probably yes because New York can get out of the deal relatively cheaply ($22.2 million in dead money) after next season.

FOX -- Rank: 32

At least Arizona and Carolina knew ahead of time they were likely in for tough seasons. The Giants had playoff aspirations in September, and now Daniel Jones' ACL twists the knife on what has been one of the worst years imaginable.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 31

The Giants are griping. They don't look like they have much fight. This all comes back to head coach Brian Daboll. The Giants might not win another game the rest of the season given their quarterback situation. But if they completely quit, it'll mean a lot of skepticism about Daboll going into Year 3.

PFT -- Rank: 29

Tommy DeVito doesn't deserve this.

New York Giants Week 9 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 9 roundup for the New York Giants in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 29

Daniel Jones was just cleared to return after missing three games because of a neck injury. Tyrod Taylor was hospitalized Sunday because of a rib cage injury. The Giants' quarterbacks are getting beaten and battered, and the results haven't been positive. New York is last in the NFL at 11.2 points per game, while Taylor and Jones have been sacked 38 times in eight games. It's Jones, who signed a new contract this offseason, that the Giants need to get back on track. He has two touchdown passes and six interceptions in five starts this season. -- Jordan Raanan

NFL.com -- Rank: 30

A day after Tyrod Taylor left the Giants' OT loss to the Jets with a ribs injury, Daniel Jones was cleared to return. That's the one silver lining here, because the Giants have three straight road games coming up, and otherwise, Tommy DeVito might have been set to start at least the first of them. The Giants can hang their hats on a defense that has been vastly improved over the past three games, led Sunday by Kayvon Thibodeaux in a massive performance. He's helped energize the pass rush, but that's a group whose effectiveness will suddenly be questioned in light of the Leonard Williams trade. It's not shocking the Giants have become sellers, but that's a tough loss for a defense that was showing it could keep the team in games.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 30

They had no business losing to the Jets, even with a third-team quarterback who didn't even try to pass. That late-game situational football was a disaster.

USA Today -- Rank: 26

QB Daniel Jones' return comes just in time, Big Blue hitting the road for the next three weeks in what's probably a last-ditch effort to save the season.

The Athletic -- Rank: 28

Something scary (for them): Saquon Barkley's health

Down to their third quarterback (undrafted free agent Tommy DeVito) because of injury, the Giants gave the ball to Barkley 36 times Sunday. That's the most carries in a game in the last two seasons, and the second most was Barkley's 35 carries last year against the Texans in Week 10. After that game, Barkley didn't top 90 yards the rest of the season. The Giants finished with minus-9 passing yards against the Jets, so it's going to be tempting to try to ride Barkley the rest of the season. That might not be possible, though.

FOX -- Rank: 30

This season couldn't have played out in Brian Daboll's worst nightmares. Throwing for negative seven yards in a game, still somehow having it won inside the final minute — and then inexplicably blowing it? As if we didn't know this season was a lost cause, the Giants have already begun the process of getting what they can out of it by trading Leonard Williams.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 30

When you lose, everything is under scrutiny. Head coach Brian Daboll's explanation for trying a field goal instead of going for it on fourth-and-1 late in the fourth quarter made sense. He didn't think his defense would allow the Jets to score a touchdown in the final 25 seconds and he was probably right. But the kick missed, the Jets somehow got in field-goal position, hit that kick to tie it and then won in overtime. When your season is going bad, that kind of loss doesn't get easily forgotten.

PFT -- Rank: 29

Not many teams can win with QB3.

New York Giants Week 7 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 7 roundup for the New York Giants in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 28

Lesson learned: The offensive line is holding them back.

There is no way around it. It doesn't even matter who is at quarterback. The Giants are going to struggle scoring points and sustaining offense behind this makeshift offensive line. No wonder they've now gone 205 minutes (three-plus games) without an offensive touchdown. Giants quarterbacks are under too much duress for success -- getting sacked on 12.7% of dropbacks, the second-highest rate in the league. -- Jordan Raanan

NFL.com -- Rank: 31

Has a team ever lost a game like the Giants did Sunday, finishing both halves at the 1-yard line? Between the pre-halftime fiasco and end-game letdown, this was the cruelest way to squander Big Blue's best defensive performance in recent memory. For three quarters, New York kept Josh Allen off the board, holding Buffalo to fewer than 150 yards. Brian Daboll seemed to expect even more from that unit when he kicked the field goal on fourth-and-1 from Buffalo's 11-yard line early in the fourth, all but wasting a great Saquon Barkley drive. Tyrod Taylor did a lot of good things, but his pre-halftime clock error cost the Giants three points. Daboll opted not to go for four more on that fourth-quarter field goal, and Darren Waller could have had six on the final play. The Giants lost by five.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 30

Competing at Buffalo and falling short is progress. The defense played well, but they just don't score on offense, and now Daniel Jones could be out for a long time.

USA Today -- Rank: 27

ESPN Stats & Info sums up their start pretty well, noting the G-Men are the fourth team since 1950 which failed to score an offensive touchdown before halftime in each of their first six games. In fact, New York's offense hasn't scored a TD since Week 3.

The Athletic -- Rank: 30

New York's final possession of both halves Sunday ended at the Buffalo 1-yard line and without producing any points. That's kind of a theme this year for the Giants, who haven't scored an offensive touchdown since Week 3. New York has scored five offensive touchdowns this season, and four of them came in the second half against Arizona in Week 2.

Injuries have been an issue (starting quarterback Daniel Jones missed Sunday's game), but lots of teams have had injuries and managed more than 10.7 offensive points per game, which ranks last in the league.

FOX -- Rank: 28

It's amazing how noticeable it is when a team has a solid game plan and looks geared up and ready to go. The Giants' offensive line is still a mess, and Tyrod Taylor started for Daniel Jones. Despite that, this was the feistiest we've seen New York play all season.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 30

The focus was on the Giants ending each half Sunday night on Buffalo's 1-yard line without scoring either time, but it's worth commending New York on its effort. For the first 20 quarters of the season, the Giants were horrible for 18 of them. They fought hard on Sunday night despite numerous injuries. There's something to be said for that.

PFT -- Rank: 29

"We didn't get embarrassed in prime time" counts as progress.

New York Giants Week 6 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 6 roundup for the New York Giants in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 28

Fantasy surprise: Nobody

Really, you just don't want to play anybody on the Giants for fantasy right now. This is a group that is averaging 12.4 points per game and can't run consistent offense because of their offensive line. It has rendered basically all their weapons useless. Tight end Darren Waller has been the only player who has even been (somewhat) productive with 23 receptions for 239 yards, yet fantasy football players have likely been disappointed if he's on their roster. -- Jordan Raanan

NFL.com -- Rank: 31

I feel badly for Joshua Ezeudu, who was apologizing for allowing a pummeling of his quarterback (again) on Sunday. There's no way it's on one guy, especially not a 2022 third-round pick playing out of position at left tackle. But that's the state of the Giants' offensive line now, with the entire group having been spun through the blender with injuries and ineffectiveness. And the sack Ezeudu surrendered -- one of seven allowed by New York on Sunday, after it gave up 11 in Week 4 -- did force Daniel Jones out with a neck injury. Injuries have ravaged the Giants' offense, and we're only in Week 6. Quick, someone put Darren Waller in a bubble. This is awful.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 30

It gets worse by the week. The offense is bad and the defense has issues. Aside from that, things are good as they head to Buffalo to play the Bills.

USA Today -- Rank: 29

S Jason Pinnock's 102-yard pick-six Sunday is the longest play of the season NFL-wide and provided Big Blue's first TD before halftime this season. Some consolation for a team that hasn't run an offensive play with the lead yet and has now been outscored by a league-most 91 points.

The Athletic -- Rank: 29

The Giants lost again, but if you're looking for a bright spot, at least they are remembering that Darren Waller is on the team. The tight end signed a three-year, $51 million deal in the offseason but has been conspicuously absent from the passing game at times. Sunday, he had a season-high eight catches for 86 yards, and he's now the only Giant with more than 200 scrimmage yards this season (23 catches, 239 yards).

FOX -- Rank: 31

The Giants are optimistic Daniel Jones' neck injury isn't a major problem. That's good news for Jones, but also scary — because it means Jones might have to play more snaps behind this woeful offensive line. Jones has been bad, but his protection is giving him almost no chance.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 31

It's hard to rank anyone behind the Giants. Any of the bottom three could be the worst team in football. And it won't get better if QB Daniel Jones has to miss any time. Head coach Brian Daboll's challenge the rest of the season is making sure this doesn't turn into a one- or two-win fiasco with the club looking like it has quit. It's already the least competitive team in the NFL.

PFT -- Rank: 29

It's almost as if 2022 never happened.

New York Giants Week 5 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 5 roundup for the New York Giants in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 26

Biggest issue on defense: Pressuring the QB

Wink Martindale's defense is built on applying pressure, but the Giants haven't done it consistently enough early in the season. The Giants have just four sacks in the first four games. That's not the recipe for success for a defense whose strength is supposed to be up front with Dexter Lawrence II, Leonard Williams and Kayvon Thibodeaux leading the way. -- Jordan Raanan

NFL.com -- Rank: 30

Throwing the ball has become laborious. Handing it off without Saquon Barkley doesn't do much. So the Giants' offense has become overly reliant on Daniel Jones making something happen with his legs. He laid everything out there as the Giants clung to hope against the Seahawks, driving to the Seattle 5-yard line while down 14-3. That's when Jones threw a back-breaking pick-six, followed by apparent tension between Jones and Brian Daboll on the sideline. The hell-on-wheels defense did all it could to hold the Seahawks down, minus a few busted plays. But Jones was sacked 10 times and fumbled twice, and it's hard to imagine the other units compensating for that. This offense is just in dire shape right now.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 25

They are an offensive mess right now. The line is awful and Daniel Jones can't get anything going. This was a playoff team last season?

USA Today -- Rank: 30

QB Daniel Jones is 0-for-7 on Monday nights, worst in league history. Also, why is the NFL force feeding us this team in prime time almost every week? It gets worse. Big Blue's next two are at Miami, followed by (sigh) a Sunday nighter in Buffalo.

The Athletic -- Rank: 29

"This is as bad as it can be," ESPN announcer Joe Buck said during the fourth quarter of "Monday Night Football." New York is last in the NFL in scoring (11.5 points per game) and is the only team in the league without a first-half touchdown. Quarterback Daniel Jones got sacked 10 times, threw two picks and lost a fumble. The Giants' three losses have been to teams in the top 10 of these power rankings. So the schedule's bound to let up now, right? They wish. The Giants' next two games are at Miami and at Buffalo.

FOX -- Rank: 30

The Giants are this week's Team That Should Be Thanking The Bears, because they'd be the league's laughingstock if not for the mess in Chicago. The Giants had 11 days to get ready for Monday Night Football against Seattle, and they came out with ... that. The offensive line is still a disaster, and on the rare occasion Daniel Jones had time to throw he made questionable decisions. With Miami and Buffalo coming up next, it's an easy guess that this gets a lot worse before it gets better.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 28

The Giants are really bad. It doesn't seem like they have any plan on offense. Even if they do, they don't have the playmakers to execute it. Brian Daboll had a very good rookie season as head coach, and it's too early to wonder if he's on the Matt Nagy path after winning NFL Coach of the Year his first season ... but that at least has to be creeping into Giants' fans minds.

PFT -- Rank: 28

The playoff win over the Vikings made everyone think the Giants were better than they are — as evidenced by their selection for three prime-time games in 22 days.

New York Giants Week 4 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 4 roundup for the New York Giants in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 23

Biggest issue on offense: Offensive line

So much to pick from but it starts with the always-changing offensive line, which is yielding pressure on 39.4% of Daniel Jones' dropbacks. It's hard for the Giants and Jones to produce consistent offense if they're using extra bodies to pass protect and still allowing pressure. This isn't to say that Jones has played well -- he didn't against San Francisco, completing 22 of 32 passes for 137 yards and an interception. It's also impossible not to factor in the absence of left tackle Andrew Thomas (hamstring) and running back Saquon Barkley (ankle). They are the two best players on this offense. -- Jordan Raanan

NFL.com -- Rank: 29

With two humbling losses sandwiching a miraculous comeback win, the Giants require some soul-searching ahead of more tough games. The road back to the playoffs was always going to be rumbly, but I can't imagine the G-Men went into the season thinking it would be quite this laborious. The Giants have been making it tougher on themselves with poor tackling and a -5 turnover differential. It looked like multiple Giants missed tackles last Thursday, and they have yet to force a turnover this season. That won't play against lesser teams, much less against a dangerous 49ers squad. The offensive issues are pretty stark, but the defensive inefficiency is nearly as disturbing.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 25

That showing against the 49ers on the road was terrible. The offensive line is a disaster with injuries and poor play.

USA Today -- Rank: 26

Going back to last season's playoffs, they've trailed by double digits at halftime in four straight games, the combined score at intermission in that stretch 91-6 in favor of New York's opponents. Yes, they've faced Philadelphia, Dallas and San Francisco in that stretch ... though that's another way of saying the Giants are no better than NFL welterweights.

The Athletic -- Rank: 26

QB confidence rating: 5

The Giants are paying $40 million per year for this. Daniel Jones threw the ball 32 times and had 137 passing yards Sunday. That's 4.3 yards per attempt. For the season, he's 29th in the league at 5.8 yards per attempt. His 107 rushing yards don't make up for that.

FOX -- Rank: 28

The Giants were on the road, on a short week against one of the best teams in the league with several starters missing from the lineup. They were supposed to lose in San Francisco. But it doesn't change the fact that this team has looked largely uncompetitive.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 26

The Giants' next three games are against the Seahawks, at the Dolphins and at the Bills. If the Giants can't beat Seattle this weekend, this could turn into 1-5 in a hurry. And the one win was a miraculous comeback against the Cardinals.

PFT -- Rank: 26

Last year is officially over.

New York Giants Week 3 NFL Power Rankings Roundup

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 3 roundup for the New York Giants in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 23

Player: RB Saquon Barkley
Current contract situation: Under contract through the 2023 season

The Giants and Barkley failed to agree on a long-term deal this offseason. He is currently playing on a revised franchise tag that provides him the opportunity to make up to $11 million. And now after Week 2, Barkley is dealing with a right ankle sprain that is expected to sideline him for three weeks, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Giants also have another franchise tag to potentially use at their disposal again next year. Barkley's admittedly in a tough spot. -- Jordan Raanan

NFL.com -- Rank: 28

Through their first 90 minutes of football this season, the Giants were outscored 60-zip by their opponents, putting them in serious danger of occupying the 32nd slot on this list. Over the next 30 minutes against Arizona, the Giants outscored the Cardinals by 23, giving them one of the biggest comeback wins in franchise history. Big Blue hadn't overcome a 21-point deficit since the 1940s. But the triumphant vibes were short-lived; Saquon Barkley suffered an ankle injury after fueling the rally with two second-half scores. It's a game the Giants probably felt they had to have, given the short turnaround for Thursday's matchup in San Francisco -- after all, 0-3 starts and playoff berths are rare dance partners.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 19

That was a miraculous comeback against the Cardinals to avoid an 0-2 start. But now they face a tough game Thursday against the 49ers on the road.

USA Today -- Rank: 25

They're lucky to be 1-1 after salvaging a win in Arizona. They're not so lucky to be headed to San Francisco on a short week, which will likely be the first of several without injured RB Saquon Barkley (ankle).

The Athletic -- Rank: 27

After six scoreless quarters to start the season (the Giants' slowest start since 1934, according to NFL Network), Daniel Jones threw for more than 250 yards, rushed for more than 50, threw multiple touchdowns, rushed for a touchdown and didn't have a turnover, becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to do that in a second half, according to OptaSTATS. Of course, now Giants fans have to hold their breath to see if Saquon Barkley's ankle is OK.

FOX -- Rank: 26

Credit to them, they got the win. But how impressed are we supposed to be by the Giants frantically rallying to overcome a 21-point deficit to Arizona? Daniel Jones was amazing after halftime, but how did the Giants fall into that hole in the first place? And now Saquon Barkley is dealing with an ankle injury after a big day. It's better than 0-2, but it's hardly encouraging.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 24

The Giants had a great comeback win. Daniel Jones was really good in the second half. It's also impossible to give the Giants all the credit for the second half without acknowledging the errors they made in digging a 28-7 hole to Arizona. It's better to be 1-1 figuring things out than 0-2, but the Giants need to be a lot better. And it will get tougher with running back Saquon Barkley out a reported three weeks with an ankle injury.

PFT -- Rank: 13

Disaster avoided. Or maybe it's just disaster delayed.
