QUARTERBACKS
Player | Att. | Comp. | Yards | TD | INT | Rush | Yards | TD | Points |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Kenny Pickett | 352.9 | 225 | 2523.2 | 14.29 | 8.29 | 32.9 | 139.8 | 0.66 | 159.45 |
Mitchell Trubisky | 230.2 | 148.5 | 1599.9 | 9.21 | 5.76 | 30.2 | 145 | 0.76 | 108.38 |
Mason Rudolph | 30.7 | 18.9 | 208.8 | 1.29 | 0.83 | 2.3 | 6.3 | 0 | 12.48 |
Kenny Pickett: Pickett was drafted to take the reigns in the post-Ben Roethlisberger era even if he's not the Week 1 starter against the Bengals. The only first-round quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft, Pickett has good (not great) arm strength and mobility and broke Deshaun Watson's single-season ACC passing touchdowns record last season. There's a good chance that he makes starts as a rookie.
Mitchell Trubisky: Even though the Steelers drafted Pickett in the first round, Trubisky is the odds-on favorite to open the season as the starter. Even so, there's a strong chance that he doesn't finish the season in that role.
RUNNING BACKS
Player | Att. | Yards | TD | Rec. | Yards | TD | Points |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Najee Harris | 289.5 | 1187 | 6.51 | 60.4 | 472.2 | 2.5 | 250.18 |
Benny Snell | 53 | 214.7 | 1.06 | 9.8 | 73.6 | 0.4 | 42.49 |
Anthony McFarland Jr. | 26.5 | 110 | 0.53 | 4.7 | 30.3 | 0.2 | 20.76 |
Derek Watt | 1.2 | 3.8 | 0.04 | 3.9 | 32.5 | 0.2 | 7.02 |
Jeremy McNichols | 6.9 | 28.3 | 0.14 | 1.8 | 13 | 0.1 | 6.47 |
Najee Harris: In fantasy football, volume is king. That really helped Harris, who averaged only 3.9 yards per carry and 6.3 yards per reception as a rookie. That said, no player had more touches than Harris, who converted his 381 touches into 1,667 scrimmage yards and 10 touchdowns. Despite his per-touch inefficiency, Harris finished as a top-four fantasy running back across all scoring formats in 2021.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Player | Rec. | Yards | TD | Rush | Yards | TD | Points |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Diontae Johnson | 89.1 | 1059.1 | 5.9 | 5.3 | 42.4 | 0.11 | 190.76 |
Chase Claypool | 62.8 | 855.6 | 4.9 | 11.1 | 57.7 | 0.56 | 155.49 |
George Pickens | 45.1 | 595.6 | 3.1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 100.71 |
Calvin Austin III | 31.4 | 324.9 | 1.8 | 1.8 | 8.1 | 0.04 | 60.04 |
Miles Boykin | 7.3 | 101.8 | 0.6 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 17.43 |
Gunner Olszewski | 1.8 | 21.7 | 0.1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 3.67 |
Diontae Johnson: In his third season, Johnson posted career highs in targets (169), receptions (107), yards (1,161) and touchdowns (eight) and finished as fantasy's WR8 (half-PPR scoring). The retirement of Ben Roethlisberger likely leads to a dip from Johnson's elite volume, but it could lead to more targets further down the field.
Chase Claypool: Claypool's targets, receptions and yards were nearly identical in his first two seasons. What wasn't nearly identical were the touchdowns. Claypool scored 11 times, counting two rushing scores, as a rookie, but only twice in 2021. Given his elite height, weight and speed profile, a regression to the mean in touchdown performance is likely.
TIGHT ENDS
Player | Rec. | Yards | TD | Rush | Yards | TD | Points |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Pat Freiermuth | 62 | 628.1 | 4.1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 118.41 |
Zach Gentry | 7.5 | 73.6 | 0.5 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 14.11 |
Connor Heyward | 4.9 | 49.8 | 0.3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 9.23 |
Pat Freiermuth: More productive than the typical rookie tight end, Freiermuth finished 2021 with 60 receptions for 497 yards and seven touchdowns on 79 targets. The former Nittany Lion enters his second season as a top-10 option at the position.
