QUARTERBACKS

Kenny Pickett562.9360.83968.422.812.3868.22662.73268.16
Mitchell Trubisky39.125.4273.71.520.948.122.30.2418.82

Kenny Pickett: The Steelers went 7-5 in Pickett's starts, but he threw more interceptions (nine, 2.3%) than touchdowns (seven, 1.8%) in 2022. That said, eight of his nine interceptions were thrown in his first five games. Some breakout potential exists if he continues to build upon his late-season improvements in efficiency, however, and an impressive preseason (13-of-15 for 199 yards and two TDs for a perfect 158.3 passer rating) provides additional reason for optimism.

RUNNING BACKS

PlayerAtt.YardsTDRec.YardsTDPoints
Najee Harris228.8926.65.7238.6275.71.5182.85

Anthony McFarland Jr.25.4101.60.51538.20.220.74

Najee Harris: While the touches (381 to 313), targets (94 to 53) and yards from scrimmage (1,667 to 1,263) all dropped year over year, Harris managed to play a full 17-game slate once again despite some worries about a Lisfranc injury before the start of the season. An improved offensive line and offense overall should help a healthy Harris, who was RB14 in half-PPR in 2022, but the main concern is how much will second-year UDFA Jaylen Warren eat into his workload?

Jaylen Warren: Warren had 105 touches for 593 yards and a touchdown in 2022 and finished as fantasy's RB51 (half-PPR scoring). The Athletic's Mark Kaboly wrote in June "[t]he way [Warren] attacks the hole during drills is something to be seen. ... there is no way [OC] Canada can keep him off the field as much as he did last season." Expected to earn more of a workload in 2023, Warren should outperform his ADP even if Harris does not miss any time and has top-15 upside if he does.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Miles Boykin2.731.80.20005.73

Diontae Johnson: For three consecutive seasons, Johnson has more than 85 catches and 140 targets and has led the team in receiving yards. Only four receivers — Davante Adams (498), Stefon Diggs (484), Justin Jefferson (476), and Tyreek Hill (464) — have more targets than Johnson (460) over that span. Despite scoring 15 touchdowns in the previous two seasons combined (2020-21), Johnson set the NFL record in 2022 for most receptions (86) without a touchdown. In other words, positive touchdown regression should be expected.

George Pickens: Among rookie wide receivers, only Atlanta's Drake London (866) had more yards than Pickens (801) in 2022. Pickens averaged 15.4 yards per catch and made a number of acrobatic highlight-reel catches throughout the year.

Pat Freiermuth: Freiermuth followed up a strong rookie season (60/497/7) with 63 catches for 732 yards and two touchdowns. Despite scoring only twice in 2022, Freiermuth finished as fantasy's TE8 (half-PPR scoring). He had at least three catches in 13 of 16 games played.

Allen Robinson: Robinson had a monster 80/1400/14 line in his age-22 season (2015), and he exceeded 1,100 yards in back-to-back seasons as recently as 2019-20. Over the past two seasons, however, he has managed only 71 catches for 749 yards and four touchdowns over 22 games with the Bears and Rams. There may be some breakout potential as he continues to build upon his late-season improvements in efficiency, but as OC Matt Canada recently described "what our identity is going to be. We want to run the ball, we want to be physical, and we want to be a good team that can throw the football down the field."

The Steelers traded up for Georgia's Broderick Jones, and Kenny Pickett should take a step forward in year two, so that could lead to an improvement from his 2022 RB14 half-PPR performance.

Jaylen Warren: The Athletic's Mark Kaboly wrote in June "[t]he way [Warren] attacks the hole during drills is something to be seen. ... there is no way [OC] Canada can keep him off the field as much as he did last season."

Despite scoring 15 touchdowns in 2020-21, no receiver had more receptions than Johnson (86) in 2022 without a single touchdown reception. In fact, no receiver in NFL history has ever had as many receptions as Johnson without scoring a touchdown, so some positive touchdown regression should be expected.

Mitchell Trubisky124.980.6868.153.1220.598.40.5161.38

Kenny Pickett: Even if he's not the Week 1 starter against the Bengals (although he should be), Pickett was drafted to take the reigns in the post-Ben Roethlisberger era. The only first-round quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft, Pickett has good (not elite) arm strength and mobility and broke Deshaun Watson's single-season ACC passing touchdowns record last season.

Mitchell Trubisky: Even though the Steelers drafted Pickett in the first round, Trubisky appears to be on track to open the season as the starter. Even so, there's a strong chance that he doesn't finish the season in that role.

Jaylen Warren42172.21.017.857.70.435.35
Derek Watt1.13.50.03433.30.27.06

Najee Harris: In fantasy football, volume is king. That really helped Harris, who averaged only 3.9 yards per carry and 6.3 yards per reception as a rookie. No player had more touches than Harris, who converted his 381 touches into 1,667 scrimmage yards and 10 touchdowns. Despite his per-touch inefficiency, Harris finished as a top-four fantasy running back across all scoring formats in 2021. Harris says he dealt with a sprained Lisfranc in training camp, but he should be fine for Week 1.

Diontae Johnson: In his third season, Johnson posted career highs in targets (169), receptions (107), yards (1,161) and touchdowns (eight) and finished as fantasy's WR8 (half-PPR scoring). The retirement of Ben Roethlisberger likely leads to a dip from Johnson's elite volume, but it could lead to more targets further down the field.

Chase Claypool: Claypool's targets, receptions and yards were nearly identical in his first two seasons. What wasn't nearly identical were the touchdowns. Claypool scored 11 times, counting two rushing scores, as a rookie, but only twice in 2021.

George Pickens: With Johnson, Claypool and Pat Freiermuth all productive pass catchers, the Steelers don't necessarily need Pickens to be a big part of the passing offense as a rookie. That said, the second-round rookie has generated tons of buzz throughout training camp and played well during the preseason. The Athletic's Mark Kaboly described Pickens "one of the best WRs that I've seen as a rookie."

Throughout the year and leading up to the 2022 NFL Draft, we will update our New England Patriots Mock Draft Roundup showing picks for the New England Patriots from several prominent sites and draft analysts.

The following are picks in recent mock drafts for the Patriots:

SI - Kevin Hanson (2/17)

21. Drake London, WR, USC

Drafting early-round wide receivers has been more miss than hit for Bill Belichick, but London is a top-15 talent who should elevate to the WR1 role early in his career for the Patriots. A former USC basketball player, the 6' 5" wideout uses his large frame and wide catch radius to dominate at the catch point.

Yahoo! Sports - Eric Edholm (2/17)

21. Travon Walker, EDGE, Georgia

Getting help for Mac Jones would be nice. But the image that will be burned into Bill Belichick's brain all offseason was the scoreboard from the playoff loss to the Bills and the helplessness the Patriots felt defending Josh Allen. Some teams might not know how to best unlock the 275-pound Walker's unusual skill set, but we believe he's an ideal fit in New England.

Draft Wire - Luke Easterling (2/17)

21. Jordan Davis, IDL, Georgia

If anyone knows the value of a dominant nose tackle, it's Bill Belichick, who watched Vince Wilfork set the tone for his best units throughout the Patriots' dynasty. Davis has the size, athleticism and power to make a similar impact for the Pats in this generation.

ESPN - Todd McShay (2/16)

21. Kyler Gordon, CB, Washington

The Patriots were second in passing yards allowed per game (187.1), tied for second in yards allowed per pass attempt (6.4) and second in interceptions (23). And they were one of three teams to keep opponents under 60% completion percentage. But the back seven could lose several starters to free agency, including cornerback J.C. Jackson, safety Devin McCourty and linebacker D'onta Hightower. It could also use an influx of speed in that area, of which Gordon has a ton. His versatility and ability to jump routes would also be welcome on one of the league's top defenses -- and he'd make the potential loss of Jackson a little easier to handle.

Linebacker and safety are two other areas to watch, and I'd watch how the receiver class is playing out as New England nears its pick. Ohio State's Chris Olave would give quarterback Mac Jones a smooth route runner with great separating speed. Alternatively, Alabama's Jameson Williams will likely miss some time but could end up the top receiver in the class. Bill Belichick would find ways to get the ball into his hands.

Fox Sports - Rob Rang (2/16)

21. Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah

Throughout much of the Bill Belichick era, the Patriots have boasted one of the NFL's best linebacker corps. His group is facing a potentially significant transition in 2022, however, with longtime standouts Dont'a Hightower and Jamie Collins among a handful of free agents at the position.

Lloyd lacks the bulk of most of the previous New England linebackers, but his instincts and playmaking ability are definitely befitting the Patriot Way.

USA Today - Nate Davis (2/15)

22 *. Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama

No reason to waste (more) time before remedying 2019's first-round mistake with WR N'Keal Harry. Williams might be a top-10 pick had he not torn an ACL in the national championship loss to Georgia. He's a burner who was remarkably productive in 2021, averaging 100 receiving yards and a TD catch per game. The Ohio State transfer didn't play with Pats QB Mac Jones in Tuscaloosa, but -- as soon as he's healthy -- he has the goods to develop into the dominant target this team has long lacked.

* It's unclear if the 21/22 picks were the Raiders trading up a spot or if it was an inadvertent error in pick order.

The Ringer - Danny Kelly (2/15)

21. Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State

The Patriots haven't exactly had a ton of success in drafting first-round receivers, but they still need to upgrade that position badly. Olave is a polished, highly productive pass catcher who can provide a field-stretching presence and the ability to get separation in high-leverage situations. He's a game-ready playmaker who'd provide a boost for Mac Jones.

The Draft Scout - Matt Miller (2/14)

21. George Karlaftis, EDGE, Purdue

It's impossible to project what the Patriots will do this far out from the Draft, but it is easy to connect the dots of how slow they looked on defense against the Bills with this upcoming draft class' strength on defense. Karlaftis looked like JJ Watt to start the ‘21 season before cooling off, but he has the player profile to fit the Patriots' defense to a T.

NFL.com - Chad Reuter (2/14)

TRADE - 28. George Pickens, WR, Georgia

Pickens has an elite skill set as an outside playmaker and proved his work ethic coming back from a torn ACL in the spring to be a factor in the late stages of the Bulldogs' title run. He's worth the investment at this point of the first round.

PFF - Mike Renner (2/14)

21. Leo Chenal, LB, Wisconsin

Chenal isn't for everyone's scheme, but any of Belichick's disciples will love the skill set he brings to the table. The Wisconsin product has the block-beating ability and football IQ to seamlessly replace Dont'a Hightower. He recorded the highest run-defense grade and second-highest pass-rushing grade among linebackers in college football last year.

Minnesota Vikings Post-Draft 2022 NFL Mock Draft Roundup

Throughout the year and leading up to the 2022 NFL Draft, we will update our Minnesota Vikings Mock Draft Roundup showing picks for the Minnesota Vikings from several prominent sites and draft analysts.

The following are picks in recent mock drafts for the Vikings:

EDSFootball - Hanson (5/10)

13. Bubba Bolden, S, Miami (FL)

A number of Minnesota's cornerbacks -- Patrick Peterson, Mike Hughes and Mackensie Alexander -- will be UFAs after the 2021 season and last year's first-round pick -- Jeff Gladney -- had a disappointing rookie campaign (PFF's 102nd-graded corner). In addition, safeties Harrison Smith and Xavier Woods are scheduled to become free agents in 2022 as well. The Vikings allowed the third-most 20-yard pass plays (63) and tied for allowing the most 40-yard pass plays (12) in 2020. In other words, there's a good chance they use their first-round pick on the secondary and Mike Zimmer gets a versatile safety prospect with Bolden here.

Touchdown Wire - Schofield (5/7)

15. Perrion Winfrey, IDL, Oklahoma

In the 2021 NFL draft we did not see an interior defensive lineman until the top of the second round. Could that change in 2022? If so, Perrion Winfrey is one of the leading contenders to force that issue. In 2020, his first season with the Oklahoma Sooners after playing junior college football at Iowa Western, Winfrey was named a Second-Team All-Big-12 selection by the conference's coaches. He played in all 11 games with eight starts, notching 19 tackles, including six for a loss.

The Minnesota Vikings added nose tackle Jaylen Twyman in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL draft, but could add Winfrey into the mix as another interior defender early in 2022.

PFF - Renner (5/7)

16. Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington

McDuffie heads into his junior season having earned coverage grades of 83.7 and 77.6 in his first two years for the Huskies. He's also one of the best tackling corners in the country, with only two misses on 64 career attempts.

ESPN - McShay (5/6)

13. George Karlaftis, EDGE, Purdue

Karlaftis dominated in 2019 with 17 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, 54 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble. But the 6-foot-4, 275-pound edge rusher was limited to three games in 2020 after testing positive for COVID-19. Patrick Jones II, the Vikings' fourth third-round choice on Friday night, provides depth on the edge but isn't likely to be a high-impact starter opposite Danielle Hunter. Karlaftis can be that. After being among the top five teams in sacks in 2018 and 2019, Minnesota ranked in the bottom five in 2020, with 23.

San Diego Union Tribune - Brown (5/4)

15. Josh Jobe, CB, Alabama

Jobe would have been a day two pick had he declared for the 2021 NFL Draft, but he decided to return to Tuscaloosa for a little bit more seasoning.

The Athletic - Brugler (5/4)

13. Kaiir Elam, CB, Florida

Over the last six years, Florida has produced 11 defensive back draft picks, including several first-rounders, and Elam is next in the pipeline. He needs to cut down on the penalties and improve his tackling, but his length and ball skills help him shut down passing windows.

CBS Sports - Wilson (5/3)

13. Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State

Olave had some 1st/2nd-round buzz after a stellar 2020 season, but he decided to return to school where he'll be one of the top receivers heading into the fall.

NBC Edge - Klassen (5/2)

15. George Pickens, WR, Georgia

The Vikings could use someone like Pickens on the outside. Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen are a nasty 1-2 combo at WR, but Minnesota would benefit from having a stud who can consistently win on the perimeter. Pickens is 6-foot-3, 200-pounds with some sudden explosiveness and speed. Pickens also has an absurd catch radius and a real knack for playing with strong awareness near the sideline. Assuming the ACL injury he suffered this offseason does not ruin him, Pickens is going to be a star.

Green Bay Packers Post-Draft 2022 NFL Mock Draft Roundup

Throughout the year and leading up to the 2022 NFL Draft, we will update our Green Bay Packers Mock Draft Roundup showing picks for the Green Bay Packers from several prominent sites and draft analysts.

For a more inclusive lists of mock drafts for the Green Bay Packers, check out our Green Bay Packers Mock Draft Database.

The following are picks in recent mock drafts for the Packers:

EDSFootball - Hanson (5/10)

25. Rasheed Walker, OT, Penn State

With 22 career starts at left tackle already under his belt, Walker has the length and athleticism to excel at left tackle at the next level. With David Bakhtiari manning Aaron Rodgers' (?!) blind side, however, Walker could start initially at right tackle and then eventually replace the 30-year-old (in September) Bakhtiari down the line when it's time to pass the torch.

Touchdown Wire - Schofield (5/7)

25. George Pickens, WR, Georgia

Of course, the storylines around Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers are dominating headlines right now, but as we start thinking about the next draft cycle, wide receiver is a position the organization could look to address in 2022. Right now three of Green Bay's top receivers are set to be free agents: Davante Adams, Equanimeous St. Brown and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, which could proper receiver to the top of Green Bay's needs.

George Pickens will be a fascinating point of discussion this draft cycle. Over two seasons for the Georgia Bulldogs the WR has caught 85 passes for 1,240 yards and 14 touchdowns, and he was expected to put up huge numbers in 2021. Those expectations took a big hit when he tore the ACL in his right knee during spring practice, and while there are hopes he could still return to the field in 2021, such a goal is a long ways off. Whether he returns to the field or not, he would still be a potential first-round pick if he enters the 2022 draft.

PFF - Renner (5/7)

25. Dominick Blaylock, WR, Georgia

Blaylock is a big projection at this point, as he put up only 310 yards as a freshman before tearing his ACL as a sophomore. He's an agile slot receiver at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, with terrific ball skills.

ESPN - McShay (5/6)

29. Christian Harris, LB, Alabama

The Packers again did not draft an offensive playmaker in Round 1, this time amid reports that QB Aaron Rodgers does not want to return. If they weren't going to target a receiver at that point, I don't know that it will ever be a priority, so I won't force it in my projections. But Green Bay still lands an impact player here, albeit on the other side of the ball. Harris started at Will linebacker last season and is a former high school wide receiver and safety. Over two seasons, he has 142 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble.

San Diego Union Tribune - Brown (5/4)

31. Perrion Winfrey, IDL, Oklahoma

Winfrey's quickness makes him a disruptive force on the interior. He'll be the anchor of a potentially dominant Sooners defense this season.

The Athletic - Brugler (5/4)

25. Zach Harrison, EDGE, Ohio State

At 6-foot-6 and 270 pounds, Harrison is straight out of central casting and will light up stopwatches at next year's scouting combine. He didn't take as big of a jump between his freshman and sophomore seasons as expected, but with another offseason working under Larry Johnson, Harrison could be a breakout star this fall.

CBS Sports - Wilson (5/3)

25. Kenyon Green, OT, Texas A&M

Green started as a true freshman and has only gotten better each year. He consistently moves defensive tackles off the line of scrimmage, a trait which translates to any level.

NBC Edge - Klassen (5/2)

25. Kenyon Green, OT, Texas A&M

Who knows what will happen with Green Bay's QB situation. The team needs guard help regardless, though. Green is a wide-bodied, aggressive guard for the Aggies. Green has all the movement skills, power, and violent mentality to be one of the league's better guards right away. His efforts in leading the Texas A&M line earned him second-team All-America honors. Even if Green plays tackle in 2021, which he may, that should not stop the Packers from kicking him back to guard in the pros.
