Chicago Bears 2023 Fantasy Football Projections

Our Fantasy Football Projections will be viewable by both position and team.

Below you will find our 2023 fantasy football projections for the Chicago Bears.

QUARTERBACKS

PlayerAtt.Comp.YardsTDINTRushYardsTDPoints
Justin Fields446.9275.73217.722.7914.08137.6839.46.19312.79
Tyson Bagent36.222.4251.61.361.095.117.90.1315.89

Justin Fields: Making modest improvements as a passer in his second season, Fields also made in-season strides highlighted by the following splits:

  • Games 1-7: 55.9% completion, five TDs and six INTs
  • Games 8-15: 63.7% completion, 12 TDs and five INTs

More improvement as a passer should be expected for his third season, but Fields has as much rushing upside as any quarterback in the NFL. He led the NFL in yards per carry (7.1) and ended the season with 1,143 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Only six running backs rushed for more yards in 2022. Over his final 10 games, Fields was even more dominant as a runner with a per-game rushing line of 11.8/94.9/0.7 (8.04 YPC). In his final 10 games played, Fields finished as a top-10 weekly quarterback nine times, a top-five performer five times and the overall weekly QB1 twice.

RUNNING BACKS

Travis Homer7.734.30.156.9520.314.78
Khari Blasingame0000.65.200.82

Khalil Herbert: Chances are that Justin Fields will lead the Bears in rushing, but Herbert has been highly efficient — career 5.02 YPC on 232 carries — through his first two NFL seasons. Given the volume of rush attempts by Fields, it should come as no surprise that the Bears ranked last in the NFL in running back receptions and 31st in running back targets in 2022. Even if Herbert leads the Bears running backs in both rushing and receiving, which I currently project, it's possible that fantasy managers are left wanting a bit more.

D'Onta Foreman: Foreman rushed for more than 110 yards in five of the final 11 games in 2022 for the Panthers. During that span, he racked up 191/877/5 rushing (4.59 YPC). Going into the 2023 season, however, it's possible that both Herbert and rookie Roschon Johnson are ahead of him on the depth chart.

Roschon Johnson: A fourth-round rookie from Texas, Johnson will battle Herbert and Foreman for reps, but ESPN's Courtney Cronin wrote that "Johnson might carry the most potential as a three-down back." Johnson's role should continue to expand as the season progresses.

Trent Taylor1.620.80.10003.48

D.J. Moore: Moore set four-year lows in receptions (63) and yards (888) last season, although he posted a career high in touchdowns (seven). Justin Fields should continue to improve as a passer in 2023 (in part due to the boost Moore provides to the receiving corps), but the Bears ranked last in the league in passing play percentage (43.8%) last season. Even with a projected target share north of 25%, Moore may not get a significant jump in targets from the 118 he had last season with the Panthers.

Darnell Mooney: Failing to build on his 2021 breakout season (81/1,055/4), Mooney missed five games and averaged 1.5 receptions and 21 receiving yardsd per game fewer in 2022 than in 2021. The addition of Moore will help Fields, but it slides Mooney down a notch on the target pecking order.

Robert Tonyan13131.81.100026.28

Cole Kmet: Targeted much less in 2022 (69) than in 2021 (93), Kmet's receptions (50) and yardage (544) dropped only modestly due to improvements in catch rate (64.5% to 72.5%) and yards per target (6.6 to 7.9). Held scoreless in 2021, Kmet had seven touchdowns in 2022 including six scores from Weeks 8-17. Adding a talented receiver (D.J. Moore) to the mix within a run-dominant offense may limit Kmet's opportunity to take a major step forward from his 2021-22 production levels.

Pittsburgh Steelers Fantasy Football Projections 2022

Our 2022 Fantasy Football Projections will be viewable by both position and team.

Below you will find our 2022 fantasy football projections for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mitchell Trubisky124.980.6868.153.1220.598.40.5161.38

Kenny Pickett: Even if he's not the Week 1 starter against the Bengals (although he should be), Pickett was drafted to take the reigns in the post-Ben Roethlisberger era. The only first-round quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft, Pickett has good (not elite) arm strength and mobility and broke Deshaun Watson's single-season ACC passing touchdowns record last season.

Mitchell Trubisky: Even though the Steelers drafted Pickett in the first round, Trubisky appears to be on track to open the season as the starter. Even so, there's a strong chance that he doesn't finish the season in that role.

Najee Harris: In fantasy football, volume is king. That really helped Harris, who averaged only 3.9 yards per carry and 6.3 yards per reception as a rookie. No player had more touches than Harris, who converted his 381 touches into 1,667 scrimmage yards and 10 touchdowns. Despite his per-touch inefficiency, Harris finished as a top-four fantasy running back across all scoring formats in 2021. Harris says he dealt with a sprained Lisfranc in training camp, but he should be fine for Week 1.

Diontae Johnson: In his third season, Johnson posted career highs in targets (169), receptions (107), yards (1,161) and touchdowns (eight) and finished as fantasy's WR8 (half-PPR scoring). The retirement of Ben Roethlisberger likely leads to a dip from Johnson's elite volume, but it could lead to more targets further down the field.

Chase Claypool: Claypool's targets, receptions and yards were nearly identical in his first two seasons. What wasn't nearly identical were the touchdowns. Claypool scored 11 times, counting two rushing scores, as a rookie, but only twice in 2021.

George Pickens: With Johnson, Claypool and Pat Freiermuth all productive pass catchers, the Steelers don't necessarily need Pickens to be a big part of the passing offense as a rookie. That said, the second-round rookie has generated tons of buzz throughout training camp and played well during the preseason. The Athletic's Mark Kaboly described Pickens "one of the best WRs that I've seen as a rookie."

Week 6 Fantasy Football WR Start'em, Sit'em

The decision on which player to start, or sit, largely comes down to the options on your roster (and/or possibly the players available on your league's waiver wire).

As an example, Chase Claypool is listed below as a "start" for Week 6. And I'd certainly be comfortable going into Week 6 with him as one of my starting wide receivers.

Then again, Claypool may be a "sit" for your team.

In other words, if you roster Davante Adams, Cooper Kupp and Claypool and start only two receivers, you should start Adams and Kupp and, in turn, bench Claypool.

For a more direct answer on whether we would start Player X over Player Y, check our Week 6 Fantasy Football Rankings. Instead of making those direct comparisons, the goal here is to highlight players that we like, or dislike, for the week.

Week 6 Fantasy Football WR Start'em

Chase Claypool, Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. SEA)

In his two most recent games, Claypool has 9/96 on 15 targets and 5/130/1 on six targets in Weeks 3 and 5, respectively. With JuJu Smith-Schuster out for the season, fantasy managers can rely on consistent volume for Claypool to be a viable WR2 every week.

The Seattle Seahawks offer a favorable matchup for Claypool, Diontae Johnson and the Steelers receivers. Through Week 5, the Seahawks have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to the opposing wide receivers.

Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos (vs. LV)

The Las Vegas Raiders have limited opposing receivers to the fourth-fewest fantasy points this season, but Sutton has been productive with Jerry Jeudy sidelined. Over the past four weeks, Sutton has two games with double-digit targets and 120-plus yards. In a challenging matchup against the Steelers last week, Sutton finished with seven catches for 120 yards and a score on 11 targets.

Marquise Brown, Baltimore Ravens (vs. LAC)

Few receivers have been as productive as Brown this season. Heading into Week 6, the third-year receiver ranked top-six in all fantasy football scoring formats. With the exception of a drop-laden Week 3, Brown has scored in four of his other games played this season.

In those four games, Brown has a minimum of 16.4 half-PPR fantasy points each week. Even in Baltimore's run-heavy offense, Brown has been able to make the most of his opportunities. Rashod Bateman, the first of two first-round picks by the Ravens in 2021, will make his NFL debut this week, but Sammy Watkins will be out this week as well.

Continue to fire up Brown as a high-upside WR2.

Ja'Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals (at DET)

It might have taken some time in the offseason for Joe Burrow and Chase to get on the same page, but the former LSU teammates have hit the ground running in the regular season. Chase set career highs in Week 5 with 10 targets and 159 yards.

Chase has a minimum of 54 yards in every game this season and he has a total of five touchdowns through five weeks. Chase has scored at least 10.7 fantasy points in every game and has gone over the 20-point mark in two of his past three games.

Perhaps the Bengals lean heavily on Joe Mixon, given how generous the Lions have been to opposing running backs, but no team has allowed more yards per reception to opposing wide receivers than the Lions (16.18 Y/R). In addition, their WR catch rate allowed (69.51%) is sixth-most in the NFL.

Week 6 Fantasy Football WR Sit'em

Robby Anderson, Carolina Panthers (vs. MIN)

Glass-half-full view: Anderson had 11 and seven targets, respectively, in the past two weeks. Those games were without Christian McCaffrey, who will now miss at least three more as the Panthers have placed him on Injured Reserve. With CMC, Anderson had only 11 targets in the first three games of the season.

While it's certainly possible that Anderson is once again more featured this week than he was early in the season, he has not been very productive the past two weeks. In those games, he finished with 5/46 (WR55) and 2/30 (WR79), respectively. Given his struggles to connect (41.38% catch rate) with Sam Darnold, Anderson is an upside WR4 or a GPP dart throw in Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS).

Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears (vs. GB)

Only the Houston Texans have a lower implied total this week than the Bears. Perhaps the Bears will throw a little more often as six-point underdogs to the Green Bay Packers and it's a positive for Robinson that Jaire Alexander (IR) is out.

That said, Robinson has 35 receiving yards or less in four of five games this season. In addition, here are his weekly half-PPR finishes this season: WR67, WR46, WR79, WR51 and WR66, respectively. Until we see more from A-Rob, he likely deserves a spot on your bench.

Bust alert: Odell Beckham, Cleveland Browns (vs. ARI)

Given the talent, it wouldn't surprise me if Beckham had a big week, but I wouldn't expect it. After a decent performance in his season debut, OBJ has back-to-back two-catch outings with a total of 47 receiving yards in those two games. Add in some less-than-ideal weather conditions (wind), Beckham slides into our rankings in the 30's, which makes him a low-end WR3 in 12-team formats.

Mason Rudolph4225.9281.41.950.954.45.50.0217.83

Ben Roethlisberger: After re-signing JuJu Smith-Schuster to a one-year deal, Pittsburgh and Roethlisberger return one of the league's best wide receiver trios. In addition, only the one-win Jaguars (66.2%) threw it on a larger percentage of plays than the 12-win Steelers (65.48%) in 2020.

Not pushing the ball down the field the way he had in the past, Big Ben's 9.5 Y/C and 6.3 Y/A in 2020 were the lowest of his career (excluding a two-game 2019 season). Part of that was by design and The Athletic's Ed Bouchette highlights why those peripherals may be better in 2021.

Given that the Steelers used their first-round pick to draft Najee Harris, Alabama's all-time leading rusher, fantasy managers should expect a greater emphasis towards the run in 2021 even though Harris offers a three-down skill set that Roethlisberger could utilize in the passing game.

Najee Harris: The all-time career rushing leader in Alabama history, Harris rushed for 1,466 yards and 26 touchdowns and added 43 receptions for 425 yards and four more scores last season. With few holes in his game, Harris will step in as a Week 1 workhorse. Given the team's propensity to feature its lead back, Harris has the chance to outperform his ADP.

Benny Snell: There is competition on the depth chart, but Snell -- or whichever back ultimately slides into the RB2 role -- would become a top waiver-wire add if Harris were to miss any time, especially given how the team historically features one back.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Ray-Ray McCloud15.4151.30.44.4330.0929.07

Diontae Johnson: Tied with Davante Adams and Keenan Allen, no receiver had more games with double-digit targets than Johnson (10). The second-year receiver averaged only 10.5 Y/R, but he turned his 144 targets into 88 catches for 923 yards and five touchdowns. While he needs to cut down on the drops, Johnson should be one of the league's most-targeted wideouts in 2021 even though the team re-signed JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Chase Claypool: Claypool scored 11 touchdowns -- nine receiving and two rushing -- in the regular season and added two more receiving scores in the team's playoff loss to Cleveland. Re-signing JuJu Smith-Schuster to a one-year deal takes some steam out of Mapletron's upside in year two, but it wouldn't surprise me if he performed as the team's most productive wideout in 2021.

JuJu Smith-Schuster: After averaging 65.5 and 89.1 yards per game, respectively, in his first two seasons with the Steelers, Smith-Schuster has averaged 46.0 and 51.9 per game in 2019 and 2020, respectively. The Steelers re-signed Smith-Schuster to a one-year contract and he is a WR3 (both in fantasy and on his own team).

Eric Ebron: In his first season with the Steelers, Ebron finished with 56 catches for 558 yards and five touchdowns. Given the team's talented trio of wide receivers and the likelihood that the Steelers run more often in 2021, Ebron's year-over-year numbers will likely dip.
