Cleveland Browns 2019 Fantasy Football Projections

In addition to viewing our 2019 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

Below you will find our 2019 fantasy football projections for the Cleveland Browns.

QUARTERBACKS

PlayerAtt.Comp.YardsTDINTRushYardsTDPoints
Baker Mayfield548.8362.24335.531.5613.1740.5145.81.01293.96
In the final eight games of his rookie season, Mayfield threw 19 touchdowns and averaged 8.57 Y/A. Among quarterbacks with a minimum of 100 pass attempts, the only quarterback that performed better over his team's final eight games was Patrick Mahomes (24 TDs, 8.72 Y/A). Going from his rookie season to 2019, Mayfield benefits from both the status quo (Freddie Kitchens) and changes (trade for Odell Beckham).

RUNNING BACKS

PlayerAtt.YardsTDRec.YardsTDPoints
Nick Chubb254.51170.78.9126.41981.85201.43
A partial-year starter, Chubb ranked third in the NFL in carries (176) and fourth in rushing yards (823) from Weeks 7 to 17. Even though the team signed suspended free-agent Kareem Hunt, Chubb is expected to retain his lead-back role once Hunt is eligible to return. With the addition of Odell Beckham Jr. to the receiving corps, the ascending Cleveland offense should give Chubb plenty of scoring opportunities.
Kareem Hunt71.3331.52.516.6153.61.4972.45
Leading the NFL in rushing as a rookie in 2017, Hunt will serve an eight-game suspension to start the season and is expected to cede the lead-back role to Chubb when he returns.
Duke Johnson51.1224.80.7735.5326.61.7870.44

WIDE RECEIVERS

PlayerRec.YardsTDRushYardsTDPoints
Odell Beckham79.41175.19.532.110.90.02175.9
Missing four games last season, Beckham hauled in 77 receptions for 1,052 yards and six scores. Even though OBJ has missed 21 games over his five-year career, he ranks third in receiving touchdowns (44) over that span behind Antonio Brown (59) and DeAndre Hopkins (45). Especially given the quarterback upgrade of going from Eli Manning to Baker Mayfield, the sky's the limit for Beckham Jr., who is currently projected to more touchdowns than all receivers not named Davante Adams in our projections.
Jarvis Landry71.3805.74.13.220.80.06107.61
Since entering the league (2014), only four receivers have more targets than Landry (719). Thriving as a volume-receiver, Landry parlayed his 149 targets in his first season as a Brown into an 81/876/4 statistical line and a WR22 fantasy performance (WR18 in PPR). Before that, he was a top-16 receiver in each of his previous three seasons: WR14 (2017, WR5 in PPR), WR16 (2016, WR13 in PPR) and WR15 (2015, WR9 in PPR), respectively. Reunited with his former LSU teammate, Landry is one of the most overvalued wide receivers compared to his current fantasy football ADP.

David Njoku53.8634.84.8400092.52
In his age-22 season, Njoku finished 2018 with 56 catches, 639 yards and four touchdowns to end the year as fantasy's TE8 (TE9 in PPR). While the offense continue to blossom as Baker Mayfield enters his sophomore campaign, Njoku (and all of the team's other pass-catchers) move down a spot in the target pecking order with alpha receiver Odell Beckham at the top.

Even though OBJ has missed 21 games over his five-year career, he ranks third in receiving touchdowns (44) over that span behind Antonio Brown (59) and DeAndre Hopkins (45). Jarvis Landry72.9823.84.193.220.80.06109.96
With the addition of his former LSU teammate, it's unlikely that Landry gets the 149 targets he had in 2018. 2018 Fantasy Football Projections: Cleveland Browns

In addition to viewing our 2018 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

Below you will find our 2018 fantasy football projections for the Cleveland Browns.

Quarterbacks

PlayerAtt.Comp.YardsTDINTRushYardsTDFLPoints
Tyrod Taylor366.1228.8269116.14.852.8295.73.21.5208.21
Taylor will be the Week 1 starter, but will he also be the starter in Week 17? The Browns should be better (then again, they can't be much worse -- 1-31 over past two seasons), but will those incremental gains keep No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield off the field for the entire season? Due to his rushing production and upgrade in receiving corps (compared to Buffalo's), Taylor could be a top-12 fantasy quarterback on a per-game basis for as long as he's the starter and is an elite option for streamers.
Baker Mayfield203.1123.914528.15.313.556.70.4185.95
Unless you're in a 2-QB league, Mayfield is not on the re-draft radar. Whenever he becomes the starter, which seems likely to occur at some point this season (post-bye based on my projections), he will become worth a look as a streaming option.

Running Backs

PlayerAtt.YardsTDRec.YardsTDFLPoints
Carlos Hyde148.9625.45.431.3190.90.80.8117.23
Playing a full 16-game slate for the first time in his four NFL seasons, Hyde set career highs in yards from scrimmage (1,288) and receptions (59) but a career low in yards per carry (3.9). The Browns used a top-33 selection on Nick Chubb, but Hyde sits atop the team's depth chart and is likely to get the most work amongst the team's backs.
Duke Johnson53.2231.41.652.6499.72.11.492.51
Through three NFL seasons, Johnson has exceeded 50 receptions and 500 receiving yards every year and he set career highs last season with 74/693/3 receiving. With both Carlos Hyde and Nick Chubb replacing the free-agency loss of Isaiah Crowell, Johnson may get even fewer carries. Meanwhile, the addition of slot receiver Jarvis Landry could lead to fewer targets and receptions for the former Hurricane.
Nick Chubb128.2557.74.410.4780.20.789.77
Going into the draft, most expected the Browns to take a Chubb. While they passed on one Chubb (cousin Bradley at No. 4), the Browns selected another (Nick) with the first pick of Round 2. Even if Hyde currently tops the depth chart, it wouldn't be out of the question for Chubb to become the lead back at some point during the season.

Josh Gordon59.51002.66.20000.2137.06
Since leading the NFL with 1,646 receiving yards in 2013, Gordon has played a total of 10 games -- five in 2014 and five in 2017 -- due to suspension. Having recently reported to the team, Gordon has the upside for a top-10 season if he's able to stay on the field for a full season, but his risks are obvious.
Jarvis Landry99.510055.21.67.202129.02
Leading the NFL last season with a career-high 112 receptions, Landry finished the season with 987 yards and nine touchdowns (also a career high). A threat for triple-digit catches, Landry could once again push for the league lead in receptions, especially if Gordon were to miss any time.
Antonio Callaway38.75073.70000.272.5
Selected in the fourth round, Callaway should have been selected higher based on talent and lower based on off-field issues (latest example). Helping to make Corey Coleman expendable (traded to Buffalo, who later released him), the rookie "tore up the defensive backs in 1-on-1 drills" early in training camp. Callaway has upside as a late-round sleeper in deeper formats.

The Browns should be better (then again, they can't be much worse), but those incremental gains are unlikely to keep No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield off the field for the entire season. Nick Chubb160.4705.85.610750.20.7111.48
Going into the draft, most expected the Browns to take a Chubb. While they passed on one Chubb (cousin Bradley at No. 4), the Browns selected another (Nick) with the first pick of Round 2. Even though they signed Carlos Hyde to a three-year deal, Chubb could still lead the team in carries. ESPN's Pat McManamon writes: "It would not be surprising to see Chubb get the bulk of the every-down carries."
Carlos Hyde115.1483.4431.3190.90.80.894.63
Playing a full 16-game slate for the first time in his four NFL seasons, Hyde set career highs in yards from scrimmage (1,288) and receptions (59) but a career low in yards per carry (3.9). Signing a free-agent deal with the Browns, Hyde may not even lead the backfield in touches with the team investing a top-33 pick in Chubb.

The Browns traded for Landry and then signed him to an extension through the 2023 season. Leading the NFL last season with a career-high 112 receptions, Landry finished the season with 987 yards and nine touchdowns (also a career high).
Antonio Callaway29.4385.12.80000.254.91
Selected in the fourth round, Callaway should have been selected higher based on talent and lower based on off-field issues. Expected to push Corey Coleman for snaps in three-wide sets, the rookie "tore up the defensive backs in 1-on-1 drills" early in training camp. Given the uncertainty with Gordon and potential the Browns move Coleman, Callaway has a ton of upside as a late-round sleeper in deep formats.
Corey Coleman20.2264.61.80.8400.137.46
A top-15 pick in 2016, Coleman has underwhelmed in two injury-plagued seasons -- 33/413/3 in 2016 and 23/305/2 in 2017 -- over a total of 19 games played. It wouldn't be a shock if Coleman is dealt before the season starts.

David Njoku42.55274.90000.181.9
Playing less than half of the team's offensive snaps as a rookie, Njoku posted a 32/386/4 stat line in 2017. Coach Hue Jackson says that he expects a big jump from Njoku in Year 2. Especially if Josh Gordon were to miss any time this season, Njoku could have a breakout season.

2018 Fantasy Football Projections: Cleveland Browns

In addition to viewing our 2018 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

Below you will find our 2018 fantasy football projections for the Cleveland Browns.

Quarterbacks

PlayerAtt.Comp.YardsTDINTRushYardsTDFLPoints
Tyrod Taylor343.2214.5252314.84.153.6300.23.21.5198.14
Taylor will be the Week 1 starter, but will Taylor also be the starter in Week 17? The Browns should be better (then again, they can't be much worse), but those incremental gains are unlikely to keep No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield off the field for the entire season. Based on my projections, I have Taylor slated to start until the team's bye. Due to his rushing production and upgrade in receiving corps, Taylor could be a top-12 fantasy quarterback on a per-game basis for as long as he's the starter.
Baker Mayfield223.1136.115398.75.813.958.40.4191
Unless you're in a 2-QB league, Mayfield is not on the re-draft radar. Whenever he becomes the starter, which seems likely to occur at some point this season, he would be worth a look as a streaming option.

Running Backs

PlayerAtt.YardsTDRec.YardsTDFLPoints
Nick Chubb160.8707.55.69.772.80.10.7110.83
Going into the draft, most expected the Browns to take a Chubb. While they passed on one Chubb (cousin Bradley at No. 4), the Browns selected another (Nick) with the first pick of Round 2. Even though they signed Carlos Hyde to a three-year deal, Chubb could still lead the team in carries. ESPN's Pat McManamon writes: "It would not be surprising to see Chubb get the bulk of the every-down carries."
Duke Johnson53.6233.21.654.9521.62.21.495.48
Through three NFL seasons, Johnson has exceeded 50 receptions and 500 receiving yards every year and he set career highs last season with 74/693/3 receiving. With both Carlos Hyde and Nick Chubb replacing the free-agency loss of Isaiah Crowell, Johnson may get even fewer carries. Meanwhile, the addition of slot receiver Jarvis Landry could lead to fewer targets and receptions for the former Hurricane.
Carlos Hyde113.1475431.7193.40.80.894.04
Playing a full 16-game slate for the first time in his four NFL seasons, Hyde set career highs in yards from scrimmage (1,288) and receptions (59) but a career low in yards per carry (3.9). Signing a free-agent deal with the Browns, Hyde may not even lead the backfield in touches with the team investing a top-33 pick in Chubb.

Wide Receivers

PlayerRec.YardsTDRushYardsTDFLPoints
Josh Gordon64.91109.85.80000.2145.38
Since leading the NFL with 1,646 receiving yards in 2013, Gordon has played a total of 10 games -- five in 2014 and five in 2017 -- due to suspension. Gordon has the upside for a top-10 season if he's able to stay on the field for a full season, but his risks are obvious.
Jarvis Landry95.4958.851.67.202123.2
The Browns traded for Landry and then signed him to an extension through the 2023 season. Leading the NFL last season with a career-high 112 receptions, Landry finished the season with 987 yards and nine touchdowns (also a career high).
Antonio Callaway24.2314.62.10000.243.66
Selected in the fourth round, Callaway should have been selected higher based on talent and lower based on off-field issues, but he's expected to push Corey Coleman for snaps in three-wide sets.
Corey Coleman18.5242.41.70.8400.134.64
