Our 2022 Fantasy Football Projections will be viewable by both position and team.

Below you will find our 2022 fantasy football projections for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mitchell Trubisky124.980.6868.153.1220.598.40.5161.38

Kenny Pickett: Even if he's not the Week 1 starter against the Bengals (although he should be), Pickett was drafted to take the reigns in the post-Ben Roethlisberger era. The only first-round quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft, Pickett has good (not elite) arm strength and mobility and broke Deshaun Watson's single-season ACC passing touchdowns record last season.

Mitchell Trubisky: Even though the Steelers drafted Pickett in the first round, Trubisky appears to be on track to open the season as the starter. Even so, there's a strong chance that he doesn't finish the season in that role.

RUNNING BACKS

Derek Watt1.13.50.03433.30.27.06

Najee Harris: In fantasy football, volume is king. That really helped Harris, who averaged only 3.9 yards per carry and 6.3 yards per reception as a rookie. No player had more touches than Harris, who converted his 381 touches into 1,667 scrimmage yards and 10 touchdowns. Despite his per-touch inefficiency, Harris finished as a top-four fantasy running back across all scoring formats in 2021. Harris says he dealt with a sprained Lisfranc in training camp, but he should be fine for Week 1.

Diontae Johnson: In his third season, Johnson posted career highs in targets (169), receptions (107), yards (1,161) and touchdowns (eight) and finished as fantasy's WR8 (half-PPR scoring). The retirement of Ben Roethlisberger likely leads to a dip from Johnson's elite volume, but it could lead to more targets further down the field.

Chase Claypool: Claypool's targets, receptions and yards were nearly identical in his first two seasons. What wasn't nearly identical were the touchdowns. Claypool scored 11 times, counting two rushing scores, as a rookie, but only twice in 2021.

George Pickens: With Johnson, Claypool and Pat Freiermuth all productive pass catchers, the Steelers don't necessarily need Pickens to be a big part of the passing offense as a rookie. That said, the second-round rookie has generated tons of buzz throughout training camp and played well during the preseason. The Athletic's Mark Kaboly described Pickens "one of the best WRs that I've seen as a rookie."

Week 16 Fantasy Football QB Start'em, Sit'em

The decision on which player to start, or sit, largely comes down to the options on your roster (and/or possibly the players available on your league's waiver wire).

As an example, Jalen Hurts is listed below as a "start" for Week 16. And I'd certainly be comfortable going into Week 16 with him as my starting quarterback.

Then again, Hurts may be a "sit" for your team.

In other words, if you own both Patrick Mahomes and Hurts, you should start Mahomes and, in turn, bench Hurts.

For a more direct answer on whether we would start Player X over Player Y, check our Week 16 Fantasy Football Rankings. Instead of making those direct comparisons, the goal here is to highlight players that we like, or dislike, for the week.

[Note: This will be our final Start'em, Sit'em of 2020, but we will post Week 17 rankings.]

Week 16 Fantasy Football QB Start'em

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles (at DAL)

Even better in the second NFL start of his career, Hurts finished Week 15 as fantasy's top-scoring quarterback (37.82). Hurts completed only 54.5% of his pass attempts against the Arizona Cardinals, but he threw for 338 yards (7.68 Y/A) and three touchdowns and added 11 carries for 63 yards and another score.

It was an unusual week as three quarterbacks scored at least 37 fantasy points, but there were zero 35-point performances in the previous five weeks (Weeks 10 to 14). In fact, there have been only nine 37-point performances all season.

Since becoming the starter in Week 14, only Lamar Jackson has scored more fantasy points than the second-round rookie out of Oklahoma (via Alabama). In addition, no quarterback has more rush attempts (29) or rush yards (169) in that two-game span.

As noted earlier, scoring 37 fantasy points is uncommon, so it would be unreasonable to expect better or even a repeat of last week's numbers.

That said, this week's matchup against the Dallas Cowboys offers little resistance when it comes to fantasy scoring. No team has allowed a higher TD% than the Cowboys (6.73%) and only five teams have a lower INT% (1.57%) this season.

Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans (at GB)

The Green Bay Packers limit opposing quarterbacks to the fifth-fewest fantasy points, but Tannehill remains a starter (top-12 option) in Week 16.

While Aaron Rodgers battles Patrick Mahomes as the two favorites for the MVP award, Tannehill has been playing as well as any quarterback himself recently. The past five weeks have featured both easy and difficult matchups, but Tannehill has finished as the QB6, QB9, QB3, QB19 and QB3, respectively.

Including his rushing scores, Tannehill has multiple scores in all five of those games. During that span, Tannehill has thrown 11 touchdowns and rushed for three more.

When throwing less than 30 pass attempts, Tannehill has the third-most QB1-level (top 12) peformances (four). Only Lamar Jackson (six) and Cam Newton (five) have more such games. The point of that is that his efficiency has helped him have strong outings in low-volume games. Even though this matchup is difficult, it shouldn't be a 21-of-27 type of game for Tannehill. In other words, more volume should compensate for any reduction in efficiency.

Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns (at NYJ)

Another week, another strong performance by Mayfield. Although the New York Giants were dealing with some injuries in their secondary, Mayfield completed 27-of-32 (84.4%) for 297 yards and two touchdowns to score 20.98 fantasy points. That was good enough to be the week's QB12.

Since Week 12, the Browns signal-caller has finished as a top-12 fantasy quarterback every week -- QB12, QB4, QB2 and QB12, respectively. Mayfield has thrown multiple touchdowns in all four of those games and has averaged 308 passing yards while accounting for 11 total touchdowns (10 passing and one rushing).

Only Buffalo's Josh Allen and Tannehill have scored more fantasy points over that stretch. In addition, Mayfield was the only quarterback with four top-12 performances over that four-week stretch.

Even though the New York Jets pulled off a stunning upset of Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams to get their first win of the season, they offer Mayfield (and his fantasy managers) a dream matchup in fantasy championship week. Only the Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars have allowed more fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.

SLEEPER - Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears (at JAX)

Trubisky has alternated between strong three-TD fantasy performances and one-TD duds since being reinserted as the team's starting quarterback in Week 12. In last week's game against the Minnesota Vikings, Trubisky threw a season-low (as a starter) 21 pass attempts and that includes a game where he was benched earlier in the season.

Facing the one-win Jags in Week 16, the Bears are favored by more than a touchdown so there is some potential concern about volume. In addition, David Montgomery has been playing like a man possessed and gets an ideal matchup himself. If he runs wild, there is a chance that hurts Trubisky.

With that being said, only the Falcons have allowed more fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks than the Jaguars this season. No team has allowed more Y/A (8.28) or passing touchdowns (31) to opposing quarterbacks. The QB12/QB13 debate features Trubisky and the guy listed as a "bust alert" below.

Week 16 Fantasy Football QB Sit'em

Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. IND)

No quarterback has thrown more pass attempts than Roethlisberger (559, 39.93/G) this season. In fact, Big Ben has averaged a whopping 44.71 pass attempts per game over his past seven games. Paraphrasing what Gisele Bunchen once famously said about her husband (Tom Brady), Roethlisberger can't throw and catch his own passes as Pittsburgh's pass-catchers have had a case of the dropsies.

Roethlisberger began that seven-week stretch with a pair of 25-point fantasy performances, but he has scored less than 20 fantasy points in five consecutive games with an average of 14.72 fantasy points. In those five games, he has thrown nearly as many interceptions (six) as touchdowns (eight).

Losers of three consecutive games, the once 11-0 Steelers are home underdogs this week to the Indianapolis Colts and only six teams have a lower implied total this week. In addition, the Colts have allowed the ninth-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.

Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions (vs. TB)

It's been an up-and-mostly-down season for Stafford. To be fair, he's been playing through injury (ribs) and has been without stud receiver Kenny Golladay for what feels like the entire season. At this point, the assumption is that Golladay, who hasn't played since Week 8, won't be out there for Week 16 either.

Over his past seven games, Stafford has had a couple of big games -- QB6 in Week 10 and QB5 in Week 13 -- and four games where he finished as fantasy's QB24 (or worse).

Cam Newton, New England Patriots (vs. BUF)

The key to Newton's (fantasy) success is what he does as a rusher. Only Derrick Henry and Dalvin Cook have more rushing touchdowns than Newton (11). After all, Newton has thrown twice as many interceptions (10) as touchdowns (five) this season. In fact, Newton has more QB1 weeks (seven) than he has passing touchdowns.

One of those no-TD (passing) and top-12 fantasy weeks happened in the first matchup against the Buffalo Bills in Week 8. That week, Newton completed 15-of-25 for 174 yards, but he ran nine times for 54 yards and a score.

Newton is little more than a (Rush) TD-or-bust option in championship week.

BUST ALERT - Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks (vs. LAR)

Wilson was "cooking" in the first half of the season and was the favorite for MVP at that point. Through Week 9, Wilson had finished as a top-10 fantasy quarterback in seven of eight games and five of those games were top-five weeks. During that eight-game stretch to start the season, Wilson threw 28 touchdowns and rushed for another.

Since that point, Wilson has been much less prolific. Wilson has thrown nine touchdowns over his past six games. While he had multiple passing scores in each of his first eight games, Wilson has two-plus pass touchdowns in only two of his past six games. During that six-game span, Wilson has finished as fantasy's QB19, QB12, QB19, QB21, QB8 and QB28.

The QB19 performance during that span was against the Los Angeles Rams. Not only did Wilson throw multiple interceptions in that game, but it was the only game in which he did not throw a touchdown. Few quarterbacks find success against the Rams, who have allowed a league-low 14.15 fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.

Week 15 Fantasy Football QB Waiver Wire Rankings

Every week, we examine players that may be available on your league's waiver wire that could help your team in the short and/or long term.

For a player to be listed, he must be owned in 50 percent (or less) of Yahoo! leagues. The goal is to provide recommendations of players that have a greater chance of being available on your league's waiver wire. Of course, your league's size and settings could significantly impact whether these players (or better options) are available in your particular league(s).

With that said, here are some quarterback waiver-wire options to consider heading into Week 15 (Yahoo! % rostered in parenthesis):

[Note: Players listed below are sorted by our preference to add.]

1. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles (17%)

Making his debut NFL start, Hurts used his dual-threat abilities to churn out a productive fantasy outing in the team's upset win over one of the league's best defenses. While the second-round rookie out of Oklahoma (via Alabama) completed 17-of-30 for only 167 yards and a touchdown, he ran 18 times for 106 yards.

Along with Lamar Jackson (twice) and Kyler Murray, Hurts' performance on Sunday was one of four 100-yard rushing performances by a quarterback this season. Not only was it just one of four 15-carry games by a quarterback this season, but his 18 attempts was the season high for the position.

While he's expected to start for the remainder of the year, it's official that he'll start in Week 15. Hurts will have a better matchup in Week 16 (Dallas Cowboys) than Week 15 (Arizona Cardinals), but the remaining matchups are more favorable than he had in his debut and he finished the week as the QB13 (only 0.04 points away from a top-12 performance). His rushing upside provides a reasonable floor and he has the potential to finish as a top-12 fantasy quarterback in either week.

2. Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns (41%)

Despite the difficult Week 14 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, the good times continue to roll for Mayfield and the team's passing attack. Throwing for 343 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, Mayfield also rushed for 23 yards and a touchdown to outscore all quarterbacks this week other than Lamar Jackson.

Mayfield had only one top-12 performance through the first 10 games of the season, but he has now finished as the QB12, QB4 and QB2, respectively, over his past three starts. Mayfield has thrown for at least 334 yards in back-to-back games and has accounted for nine touchdowns -- eight passing and one rushing -- over his past three.

Cleveland will face the New York Giants and New York Jets in Weeks 15 and 16, respectively. While the Giants have limited opposing quarterbacks to the fifth-fewest fantasy points this season, the Jets have allowed the second-most for fantasy managers looking ahead to Championship Week.

3. Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears (10%)

Trubisky threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's win over the Houston Texans and scored 24.98 fantasy points (QB7). Since returning as the starter coming out of the team's Week 11 bye, Trubisky has thrown a total of seven touchdowns and only two interceptions and scored at least 20 fantasy points in two of three games.

With upcoming matchups against the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars in Weeks 15 and 16, respectively, Trubisky will be a streaming option over the rest of the fantasy playoffs. While the Vikings pass defense has played better more recently, the Jaguars have allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.

4. Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders (47%)

Outside of an absolute dud against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12, Carr has been lights out in his other three most recent games. In what should have been a difficult matchup against the Indianapolis Colts (and Carr did have his first multiple-interception game of the season), Carr threw for 316 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for another.

Including his dud 1.6-point performance against the Falcons, Carr has thrown eight touchdowns and rushed for two more over his past four games. In addition, he's averaging nearly 300 passing yards per game (296.75) over that stretch. Over the past four weeks, Carr has finished as fantasy's QB8, QB35, QB1 and QB5, respectively.

The Raiders face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15 and Carr had a modest outing against the division rivals in Week 9. In that first matchup of the season, he completed 13-of-23 for 165 yards and two scores.

5. Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins (20%)

One week after setting career highs in pass attempts (39), completions (26) and yards (296), Tagovailoa broke his own career highs as he completed 28-of-48 for 316 yards, two touchdowns and an interception against the Kansas City Chiefs. In addition, he rushed six times for 24 yards and a score. Only Jackson, Mayfield and Aaron Rodgers scored more fantasy points than Tua this week.

Matchups against Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots are never easy for any rookie quarterback (as we saw with Justin Herbert in Week 13) so expectations should be tempered this week. That said, he gets a favorable matchup against the Raiders in Week 16 and he will have more appeal as a streamer that week.

Week 14 Fantasy Football QB Waiver Wire Rankings

Every week, we examine players that may be available on your league's waiver wire that could help your team in the short and/or long term.

For a player to be listed, he must be owned in 50 percent (or less) of Yahoo! leagues. The goal is to provide recommendations of players that have a greater chance of being available on your league's waiver wire. Of course, your league's size and settings could significantly impact whether these players (or better options) are available in your particular league(s).

With that said, here are some quarterback waiver-wire options to consider heading into Week 14 (Yahoo! % rostered in parenthesis):

[Note: Players listed below are sorted by our preference to add.]

1. Philip Rivers, Indianapolis Colts (40%)

Nobody should ever question Rivers' toughness, but the veteran quarterback is dealing with a plantar plate rupture (described as a really bad case of turf toe) that will likely require offseason surgery. Fortunately (I suppose), mobility isn't a component of Rivers' game.

Despite the injury, Rivers played efficiently in Sunday's win over the Houston Texans as he completed 27-of-35 pass attempts (77.1%) for 285 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. The veteran quarterback has thrown for 285-plus yards in four consecutive games and multiple touchdowns in his past three games.

Since Week 6, Rivers has performed as a top-10 fantasy quarterback in four of seven starts. In two other starts, Rivers finished as QB13 (at Tennessee Titans) in Week 10 and currently sits at QB13 (at Texans) with three games to go. In other words, he has either been a top-12 quarterback or very close to one in six of his past seven starts.

Rivers will remain a potential streamer with plus matchups against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 14 and a rematch against the Texans in Week 15.

2. Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns (38%)

Even though the Browns coaching staff would like to employ a run-heavy approach in general, the passing attack has shown signs of life. After a stretch of bad-weather games, Mayfield has thrown for 592 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions over the past two weeks combined.

As we head into the fantasy playoffs (Weeks 14-16), Mayfield's Week 14 matchup (vs. Baltimore Ravens) is the most difficult of the fantasy postseason. After that, however, he gets a pair of favorable matchups against the New York Giants (Week 15) and winless New York Jets (Week 16).

3. Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears (13%)

After scoring more than 20 fantasy points against the Green Bay Packers in Week 12, Trubisky got another start, but disappointed his fantasy owners. The former No. 2 overall pick completed a healthy 26-of-34 pass attempts (76.5%) for 267 yards and a touchdown, but is only the QB18 heading into Monday (with three games remaining).

Provided that Trubisky remains the starter, there are some favorable matchups upcoming on his schedule. Both the Texans (Week 14) and Jacksonville Jaguars (Week 16) offer plus matchups.

4. Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins (21%)

Before Sunday's start against the Cincinnati Bengals, Tagovailoa had thrown 28 or fewer pass attempts in the first four starts of his young career. Looking much better in the second half on Sunday, Tua completed 26-of-39 for 296 yards and a touchdown. As much as the coaching staff wants to be conservative with the rookie, a matchup against Patrick Mahomes and the high-powered Kansas City Chiefs offense in Week 14 may dictate a different plan.

5. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles (3%)

It finally happened -- Carson Wentz was benched in Sunday's loss to the Packers. It's unclear at this point if the Eagles will go with Wentz or Hurts in Week 14 and the matchup against the New Orleans Saints is a tough one either way, but Hurts has the dual-threat ability that favors fantasy production even if he struggles in real life like Wentz has.

Fantasy Football Week 3 QB Waiver Wire

Every week, we examine players that may be available on your league's waiver wire that could help your team in the short and/or long term.

For a player to be listed, he must be owned in 50 percent (or less) of Yahoo! leagues. The goal is to provide recommendations of players that have a greater chance of being available on your league's waiver wire. Of course, your league's size and settings could significantly impact whether these players (or better options) are available in your particular league(s).

With that said, here are some running back waiver-wire options to consider heading into Week 3 (Yahoo! % rostered in parenthesis):

[Note: Players listed below are sorted by my preference to add.]

1. Gardner Minshew II, Jacksonville Jaguars (32 percent)

While Jacksonville entered the 2020 season as the odds-on favorite to win the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes, Minshew is doing his best to keep Lawrence out of Duval County. One week after a nearly-flawless outing to upset the Colts, the second-year quarterback nearly pulled off another upset against the Titans and enters Week 3 as a favorite over the Dolphins on Thursday Night Football.

In his two starts, Minshew has tossed three touchdowns in each game and has now scored more than 20 fantasy points in back-to-back games. He finished as fantasy's QB11 in Week 1 and he's currently the QB12 for Week 2 heading into Monday Night Football. Counting his 14 games as a rookie, Minshew has compiled a career 27-to-eight TD-INT ratio over 16 NFL games.

Perhaps the most underrated aspect of his game is his rushing ability. While the numbers so far this year aren't gaudy (19 rushing yards in both games), that's a 304-yard pace over a full season. Rushing for a similar number (344 rushing yards) in 2019, only four quarterbacks -- Lamar Jackson (1,206), Kyler Murray (544), Josh Allen (510) and Deshaun Watson (413) -- rushed for more than Minshew last season.

The Dolphins have allowed 10.59 Y/A and a 7.41 TD%, the most and fourth-most, respectively, to opposing quarterbacks this season through Sunday's games.

+ More: Jacksonville Jaguars Mock Draft Roundup

2. Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans (46 percent)

The Titans are a run-first team, so there's always the potential that Tannehill won't have the opportunity to sling all over the yard. In fact, he threw it only 24 times on Sunday, but last year's NFL Comeback Player of the Year averaged nearly 10.0 Y/A (9.96) and connected for a score on one-quarter of his pass attempts against the Jags despite missing stud second-year receiver A.J. Brown.

Tannehill gets a favorable Week 3 matchup against the Vikings. who have allowed 8.38 Y/A (seventh-most) and a 7.25 TD% (fifth-most).

3. Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears (7 percent)

Trubisky had a much better fantasy performance in Week 1 (24.28, QB7) than he's had in Week 2 (13.2, currently QB22). That said, the much-maligned quarterback has thrown five touchdowns in the first two weeks of the season and has the ability to make plays with his legs.

Furthermore, the Bears will face the Falcons in Week 3 and no team has allowed more fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks through Sunday Night Football. Granted, Trubisky is no Russell Wilson (Week 1) or Dak Prescott (Week 2), but Trubisky offers some streamer appeal for those in deeper leagues.

Nick Foles333.7214.4238614.356.6713.844.20.48146.8
It's unlikely that the Bears have their long-term starter on their roster (as many mocks have the Bears taking a quarterback in 2021) and it wouldn't be surprising if both Foles and Mitch Trubisky made multiple starts in 2020. On his fifth team since 2015, Foles has the edge over Trubisky to outscore the former No. 2 overall pick. That said, neither signal-caller is on the fantasy radar outside of two-QB leagues.
Mitchell Trubisky246.7155.41714.610.245.325.7123.41.03117.46
Some (NBC Chicago's J.J. Stankevitz, for one) believe that Trubisky will be the team's Week 1 starter. Even if he begins 2020 as the starter, it's much less likely that he ends the season as the starter.

RUNNING BACKS

David Montgomery237.2984.45.9331.5239.41.02164.08
Earlier this offseason, GM Ryan Pace talked about Montomgery's ability to "carry a heavier load" if the team runs more often in 2020. While the former Cyclone averaged only 3.7 YPC, he finished his rookie campaign with 242 carries and 25 receptions.
Tarik Cohen75.1304.21.561.4466.62.76102.64
The Human Joystick set career lows in efficiency (3.3 YPC and 5.8 Y/R), but he set career highs in both targets (104) and receptions (79). Given his role in the passing game, Cohen is a much better option in (full) PPR formats as he's finished no worse than RB30 in PPR scoring -- 27th in 2019, 11th in 2018 and 30th in 2017 -- over his three NFL seasons.

WIDE RECEIVERS

PlayerRec.YardsTDRushYardsTDPoints
Allen Robinson82.310377.4115.50.02148.83
Playing a full 16-game season, Robinson had a career-high 98 receptions for 1,147 yards and seven touchdowns in 2019. With steadier quarterback play, Robinson should post another top-12 fantasy season in 2020.
Anthony Miller55.4706.44.7114.50.0199.41
Miller finished his second season with 52 catches on 85 targets for 656 yards, all improvements over his rookie numbers, and a pair of touchdowns. While he started slow -- 28 yards in first four games -- and had several duds -- four other games with single-digit yards, the second-year receiver had 50-plus yards and/or a touchdown in eight of 10 games from Weeks 5 to 15 last season. While he had shoulder surgery on the same shoulder in consecutive offseasons, Miller has upside if he can be more consistent from beginning to end.
Ted Ginn Jr.26.6368.41.86424.80.151.08
Even though Ginn will likely have a big game mixed in to his game logs, it will be virtually impossible to pinpoint when that game may occur. Ginn averaged a five-year low in YPG (26.3) in 2019.

TIGHT ENDS

Jimmy Graham41.5477.32.4900062.67
The Bears used their first pick on Cole Kmet, who was the first tight end selected in the 2020 NFL Draft. Given the difficult transition for rookie tight ends and the size of the contract given to Graham, the 33-year-old tight end should lead the position group in fantasy production in 2020. Temper expectations, however, as Graham's 2019 numbers (38/447/3) were the worst of his career excluding his 2010 rookie season.

Chicago Bears 2019 Fantasy Football Projections

In addition to viewing our 2019 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

Below you will find our 2019 fantasy football projections for the Chicago Bears.

PlayerAtt.Comp.YardsTDINTRushYardsTDPoints
Mitchell Trubisky514.6337.13859.527.0213.6465331.52.28282.01
After the team's Week 5 bye, we got a glimpse of how good Trubisky could be in this offense. From Weeks 6 to 10, only Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes (26.5) scored more fantasy points per game than Trubisky (24.9). Consistency eluded the second-year signal-caller, but Trubisky offers plenty of upside as a high-end QB2 that could take a major step forward in 2019.

RUNNING BACKS

PlayerAtt.YardsTDRec.YardsTDPoints
David Montgomery205.19237.1831.2230.91.56167.83
Despite a dearth of draft picks, the Bears gave up even more draft capital for the opportunity to move up in the third round for their first selection in 2019. Drawing comparisons to Kareem Hunt, Montgomery is clearly a more natural fit as the primary back for Chicago's offense than Jordan Howard. As a coach Matt Nagy says, Montgomery has "great hands" and is a "really good route runner." The only concern, if there is one, is that Tarik Cohen and Mike Davis are going to get decent workloads as well.
Tarik Cohen83.2366.12.0868639.24.76141.57
In addition to a year-over-year bump in touches (140 to 170), Cohen was more efficient (10.2 Y/R, 4.5 YPC) on his opportunities and scored eight total touchdowns in 2018. Converting his 91 targets into 71 receptions, Cohen is obviously a better option in PPR formats (RB11 last year), but he still finished as a fantasy's RB17 in non-PPR formats. Even if Montgomery's do-it-all skill set scales Cohen's opportunities back a tad, he's a viable RB2 in PPR formats and flex option in others.
Mike Davis69.5309.32.0914.71000.5957.01
In the time period between trading Jordan Howard and the NFL Draft, Davis had plenty of sleeper appeal. Barring injuries, Davis is likely to finish third in both touches and production amongst the team's backs.

WIDE RECEIVERS

PlayerRec.YardsTDRushYardsTDPoints
Allen Robinson62.7865.35.17000117.55
Missing three games in his first season in Chicago, Robinson finished with 55 catches for 754 yards and four touchdowns in the regular season and then went off for 10/143/1 on 13 targets in Chicago's playoff loss to Philadelphia. With good health and further development from Mitchell Trubisky, A-Rob has upside as the No. 1 receiver in one of the league's better offenses.
Anthony Miller41.5527.14.153.415.30.0379.32
Miller scored a touchdown on every 4.71 of his receptions, an unsustainable rate, but I expect more targets, receptions and yards from the second-year receiver.
Taylor Gabriel50.9544.62.048520.3273.82
Gabriel set career highs in targets (93), receptions (67) and both receiving yards (688) and rushing yards (61). While he finished outside the top 50 receivers in standard-scoring formats, he was PPR's WR41.
Cordarrelle Patterson6.873.40.4819.4126.10.5826.31
Patterson should see a role similar to what he had in New England last season, but he'll make a bigger real-life than fantasy impact (like usual) in 2019.
Riley Ridley9.4105.30.5600013.89
With several receivers ahead of him on the depth chart, Riley could struggle to carve out a prominent role as a rookie let alone make the type of impact that his brother (Calvin) made last year.

Trey Burton51540.65.3600086.22
Posting career highs across the board (54 catches for 569 yards and six touchdowns), Burton finished with the sixth-most fantasy points (eighth-most in PPR) at the position last season. That's the good news. That said, 11 other tight ends that played at least 10 games scored more PPR fantasy points per game than Burton. In fact, Burton exceeded 40 receiving yards in only three games last season with none after Week 7.

Week 8 Fantasy Football: Quarterbacks Start'em, Sit'em

Ultimately, the decision of which player to start is largely determined by the composition of your roster (as well as your league's settings).

As an example, Jameis Winston is listed below as a "start" for Week 8. And I'd feel comfortable going into Week 8 with him as my starting quarterback.

That said, he may be a sit for your team.

In other words, if you owned both Aaron Rodgers and Winston, you should start Rodgers -- and in turn, bench Winston.

So while you won't find absolute start-sit recommendations below (use my Week 8 Fantasy Football Rankings for that instead), the goal here is to highlight some players that I like (and would feel comfortable starting) as well as some players that I dislike for this week (and would prefer to keep on my bench).

Week 8 Fantasy Football QB Start'em

QB - Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at CIN)

Before the team's Week 5 bye, Ryan Fitzpatrick was benched for Jameis Winston. If you exclude that game, the Bucs starting quarterback has finished as a top-10 weekly fantasy quarterback in all five games where the starter finished it. In addition, both Fitzpatrick and Winston have individually finished as the weekly QB1 this season.

With two 2018 starts under his belt, Winston has thrown for 365-plus yards each week to go along with 86 combined rushing yards as well. Of course, Fitzpatrick had a historic start to his season with three consecutive 400-yard passing games.

Facing the Bengals on the road, the Bucs are 4.5-point underdogs in a game with the second-highest game total (54.0) of the week. Both quarterbacks in this game have top-five matchups in terms of fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks so there's a good chance that Winston and the Bucs have another top-10 QB performance this week.

QB - Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals (vs. TB)

As noted above, Dalton and Winston face off in a matchup with a high total (54 points) and no team has allowed more fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season than the Bucs. The Bucs have allowed a quarterback to throw for 300-plus yards and/or multiple touchdowns in every game this season and they have allowed a top-10 weekly finish in five of six games.

Over the past three weeks, Dalton has been a disappointment -- weekly QB24, QB17 and QB25, respectively. Before that, however, he had averaged 20.5 fantasy points per game in his first four games. To make his recent disappointing performances more disappointing, he's had plus matchups against the Steelers and Chiefs in each of the past two weeks. That said, this sets up as the perfect opportunity for Dalton to end his skid.

QB - Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears (vs. NYJ)

Despite a slow start, few quarterbacks (in fantasy football) have been as productive as Trubisky over the past month. Trubisky has scored the ninth-most fantasy points amongst quarterbacks this season -- just ahead of Aaron Rodgers (10th), Tom Brady (11th) and Ben Roethlisberger (12th).

After throwing for 220 yards or less in his first three games, Trubisky has thrown for 316 yards or more in his past three games. During that three-game span, he has accounted for 12 touchdowns -- 11 passing and one rushing -- and has averaged 34.07 fantasy points per game as he has finished as the weekly QB1, QB5 and QB2, respectively. The good times should continue to roll for the second-year quarterback.

Week 8 Fantasy Football QB Sit'em

QB - Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions (vs. SEA)

Imploding with a four-interception performance in Week 1, Stafford has bounced back by throwing multiple touchdowns in each of his past five games. Even better, Stafford has compiled an 11-to-one TD-INT ratio during that five-game span.

That's the good news. More good news for the Lions (but perhaps not Stafford's fantasy outlook) is their new-found running game. Rookie Kerryon Johnson recorded his second 100-yard game of the season last week.

With the team more committed to the run, Stafford has set a season low in pass attempts in each of the past three games including just 22 attempts in their Week 7 win over the Dolphins. Stafford has now failed to exceed 30 pass attempts in any of his past three games.

In a tough matchup against a transformed Seattle secondary that has allowed the fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, it's possible that Stafford finishes outside the top-12 fantasy quarterbacks for a fifth consecutive week.

QB - Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks (at DET)

Wilson has thrown exactly three touchdowns and has finished as the weekly QB12 in each of his past two games. Moreover, Wilson has thrown multiple touchdown passes in five of six games this season.

Like Stafford, however, the volume hasn't been there lately. Wilson has thrown 26 or fewer pass attempts in four consecutive games. In the past he made up for low passing numbers with rushing production, but he has yet to rush for more than 21 yards in any game this season. The low passing-game volume and lack of rushing production means that Wilson has finished as a top-10 fantasy quarterback only once (QB9 in Week 1) this season.

If Wilson doesn't maintain his level of efficiency (six touchdowns on 44 combined pass attempts in his past two games), it's unlikely that he'll finish as a top-12 fantasy quarterback this week. Both Stafford and Wilson are ranked as high-end QB2 options for me this week.

QB - Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles (at JAX)

Throwing multiple touchdowns in four consecutive games, Wentz has thrown for 300-plus yards and scored 20-plus fantasy points in three of those four games. The matchup isn't as difficult as it may have appeared at the beginning of the season, but the Jags still allow the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. Like Stafford and Wilson, Wentz is just outside top-12 fantasy quarterbacks this week.

2018 Fantasy Football QB Waiver-Wire Options Heading Into Week 8

Every week, we examine players that may be available on your league's waiver wire that could help your team in the short and/or long term.

For a player to be listed, he must be owned in 50 percent (or less) of Yahoo! leagues. The goal is to provide recommendations of players that have a greater chance of being available on your league's waiver wire. Of course, your league's size and settings could significantly impact whether these players (or better options) are available in your particular league(s).

Embed from Getty Images

With that said, here are some quarterback waiver-wire options that I like heading into Week 8 (Yahoo! ownership in parenthesis):

[Note: Players listed below are sorted by my preference to add.]

1. Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears (53 percent)

Granted, Trubisky is owned in slightly more than our self-imposed 50-percent ownership ceiling, but if he's available in your league, you should add the second-year quarterback.

Despite a slow start, few quarterbacks (in fantasy football) have been as productive as Trubisky over the past month. Trubisky has scored the ninth-most fantasy points amongst quarterbacks -- just ahead of Aaron Rodgers (10th), Tom Brady (11th) and Ben Roethlisberger (12th).

2. Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns (41 percent)

Finishing outside the top-20 fantasy quarterbacks in his first four NFL games, Mayfield was the QB6 in Week 7. The rookie quarterback threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns while adding 43 rushing yards. While those aren't gaudy numbers, he got the job done.

If you're in need of a streamer this week, Mayfield gets another plus matchup as the Browns face the Steelers, who have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. After this week, he gets matchups against the Chiefs and Falcons, a pair of top-six matchups as well.

3. Case Keenum, Denver Broncos (20 percent)

Keenum has thrown more interceptions (nine) than touchdowns (eight) this season and he's had his share of duds as well. Over the past three weeks, however, Keenum has a pair of 300-yard games with multiple touchdowns. With a plus matchup in Week 8 against the Chiefs, who have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, Keenum could be a one-week rental for those that need to fill in for Matt Ryan or another quarterback on bye.
