Daniel Jones557.6355.53986.827.0413.9454.8301.42.19283.03
As is expected with any rookie quarterback, it was an up-and-down season for Jones, who will need to cut down on turnovers (especially fumbles) heading into year two. In terms of upside, however, only Lamar Jackson (seven) had more games finishing as a top-two weekly performer at quarterback than Jones (four) last season. It wouldn't surprise us if Jones turned in a Josh Allen-like second-year performance and he's one of our favorite QB2/streamers in 2020.

RUNNING BACKS

Saquon Barkley256.41192.38.9760.3491.42.56237.55
Missing a few games early in the season, Barkley closed a relatively disappointing season with some positive momentum -- 393 rushing yards, 146 receiving yards and five touchdowns in his final three games. Barkley will run behind an improved offensive line in 2020 (although Nate Solder has opted out) and has the skill set to challenge Christian McCaffrey for the top spot in fantasy production.
Dion Lewis22.385.90.2224.1161.51.0232.18
Barring injury, Lewis will provide the occasional breather to Barkley, but it's unlikely that he gets many more opportunities than he had last year (79 touches) in Tennessee.

WIDE RECEIVERS

PlayerRec.YardsTDRushYardsTDPoints
Darius Slayton57.8820.86.07000118.5
Slayton, who ran a sub-4.4 forty and posted a 40.5" vertical at the combine, made a bigger-than-expected impact as a rookie. In his first season, he finished with 48/740/8 and had a pair of games with 120-plus yards and multiple touchdowns in the second half of the season. A concern for Slayton heading into 2020 is that the team's three other top pass-catchers -- Sterling Shepard (six), Evan Engram (eight) and Golden Tate (five) -- all missed at least five games in 2019, so there could be less to go around if the team has better health in 2020.
Sterling Shepard71.7817.45.383.727.80.04117.04
Missing six games in 2019, Shepard has now missed at least five games in two of the past three seasons. With Odell Beckham traded to Cleveland, Shepard was the recipient of a career-high 8.3 targets per game, but he averaged a career-low 10.1 yards per catch and a mediocre 57.6 yards per game. While more of a flex option, Shepard "has torched every Giants corner this summer."
Golden Tate65.1794.25.211.99.10.01111.65
Serving a four-game PED suspension to begin the year, Tate performed as fantasy's WR28 from Weeks 5 to 17. Tate averaged 7.7 targets, 4.5 receptions and 61.5 yards per game and scored six touchdowns, tied for the second-most in his career.

Evan Engram647205.44000104.64
Durability has been an issue for Engram, who has missed at least five games in each of the past two seasons and had Lisfranc surgery in December. When he was on the field in 2019, however, he averaged 5.5 catches and 58.4 yards per game, both of which were career highs. SNY TV's Ralph Vacchiano described Engram "as quick and as explosive as ever" and wrote that the Giants "think he’s a guy who could top 80 catches and 1,000 yards easily."

PPR 12-Team Fantasy Football Mock Draft - 12th Pick

The best way to become good at something is to practice. So, what should you do if you want to draft a better fantasy football team?

Practice, of course!

Leading up to the start of the 2020 NFL season, we will use the 2020 Fantasy Football Mock Draft Simulator (powered by FantasyPros) to complete fantasy football mock drafts.

We will use a variety of scoring formats -- PPR, half-PPR, standard scoring and even 2-QB leagues, league sizes and draft slots. The goal is to give you a good representation of the team that you may be able to construct given your league settings and the rationale of why we made the picks we did.

+ Our mocks will be tracked here: Fantasy Football Mock Drafts.

That said, nothing beats practicing yourself so (check out the simulator) and complete a mock in a matter of minutes.

Without further ado, here are the picks of our 12-team 2020 fantasy football mock draft using PPR scoring with the 12th pick:

1.12 - Joe Mixon, RB, Cincinnati Bengals

One of just three backs with 275-plus touches in each of the past two seasons, Mixon started slowly last year but finished strong -- RB4 over final eight weeks with 177/817/5 (4.62 YPC) rushing and 16/177 (11.06 Y/R) receiving. Both the offense overall and the offensive line should be better in 2020, which should help to carry over his second-half momentum into 2020.

2.01 - Julio Jones, WR, Atlanta Falcons

The obvious knock on Jones has been his lack of red-zone production as he still has just one season (2012) with double-digit touchdowns. That said, Jones now has 1,394 receiving yards in six consecutive seasons; the only other active streak is two (Michael Thomas, WR1). Over the past six seasons, Jones has averaged a receiving line of 103.8/1,564.7/6.2.

3.12 - Todd Gurley, RB, Atlanta Falcons

Racking up 3,924 scrimmage yards and scoring 40 touchdowns the previous two years combined, Gurley barely exceeded the 1,000-yard rushing mark (1,064 YFS) in his age-25 season. Obvious durability concerns persist about Gurley's arthritic knee, but he enters 2020 as the clear lead back in Atlanta's potent offense.

4.01 - Calvin Ridley, WR, Atlanta Falcons

Ridley posted per-game career highs in targets (7.2), receptions (4.8) and yards (66.6) in 2019, although his season was cut short (Week 14) by an abdominal injury. Through Week 14, Ridley was a top-15 receiver across the board -- WR13 in half-PPR, WR14 in full PPR and WR10 in non-PPR. With a lack of depth behind starters, Ridley is poised for a big season as long as his health cooperates.

5.12 - David Montgomery, RB, Chicago Bears

Earlier this offseason, GM Ryan Pace talked about Montomgery's ability to "carry a heavier load" if the team runs more often in 2020. While the former Cyclone averaged only 3.7 YPC, he finished his rookie campaign with 242 carries and 25 receptions.

6.01 - Jarvis Landry, WR, Cleveland Browns

Despite all the fanfare generated by the reunion with his former LSU teammate, it was Landry that outproduced Beckham across the board with 83 catches for a career-high 1,174 yards and six touchdowns as fantasy's WR13. Given a timetable of 6-8 months of rehabilitation time for his February hip surgery, it's not a lock that Landry will be ready for the start of the season, but early signs have been positive.

7.12 - Kareem Hunt, RB, Cleveland Browns

Returning from suspension for the final eight games, Hunt was heavily involved, especially as a receiver, as he averaged 10 touches (5.4 carries and 4.6 receptions) per game. Hunt (RB19) and Chubb (RB15) weren't all that dissimilar in terms of fantasy production from Weeks 10-17.

8.01 - Jamison Crowder, WR, New York Jets

Crowder led the Jets in targets (122), receptions (78), yards (833) and touchdowns (six) last season. With Robby Anderson and Demaryius Thomas no longer on the roster, Crowder could be even better in 2020 if Sam Darnold can stay healthy. The slot receiver's ADP has been steadily rising in August.

9.12 - Golden Tate, WR, New York Giants

Serving a four-game PED suspension to begin the year, Tate performed as fantasy's WR28 from Weeks 5 to 17. Tate averaged 7.7 targets, 4.5 receptions and 61.5 yards per game and scored six touchdowns, tied for the second-most in his career.

10.01 - Preston Williams, WR, Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins made a number of roster improvements through free agency and the draft, but there were no significant additions in terms of pass-catchers. In fact, the group is worse off with Wilson and Hurns opting out. More talented (four-star high school recruit) than his UDFA status (due to off-field reasons) would imply, Williams made an immediate impact for the Dolphins with 32/428/3 in eight games before tearing his ACL. Expected to be ready for Week 1, Williams should pick up where he left off in year two.

11.12 - Hunter Henry, TE, Los Angeles Chargers

One of the league's most talented tight ends, Henry has played just 26 games over the past three seasons combined. That said, he set career highs in his age-25 season in targets (76), receptions (55) and yards (652) in just 12 games.

12.01 - Carson Wentz, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have a dynamic one-two punch at tight end with Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert, but their receiving corps was decimated by injuries last season. Wentz became the league's first 4,000-yard passer without a 500-yard (wide) receiver. The front office turbo-charged the receiving corps with the addition of speed and lots of it this offseason.

13.12 - Austin Hooper, TE, Cleveland Browns

Despite missing three games, Hooper posted career highs across the board with 75 catches, 787 yards and six touchdowns. Before missing any time, Hooper was fantasy's top-scoring tight end through Week 8. As he transitions to a new team and offense, however, Hooper is a back-end TE1, at best, in what should be a run-heavy offense.

14.01 - Chase Edmonds, RB, Arizona Cardinals

Edmonds played 60 snaps (94%) against the Giants in Week 8 and exploded for 150 YFS and three touchdowns on 29 touches. Missing all of November and playing only 15 offensive snaps in December, the third-year back out of Fordham enters 2020 as Kenyan Drake's primary handcuff with David Johnson now in Houston.

15.12 - Minnesota Vikings DST

16.01 - Justin Tucker, K, Baltimore Ravens

New York Giants 2019 Fantasy Football Projections

In addition to viewing our 2019 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

Below you will find our 2019 fantasy football projections for the New York Giants.

QUARTERBACKS

PlayerAtt.Comp.YardsTDINTRushYardsTDPoints
Eli Manning385.7251.72738.514.089.6412.617.60.13149.12
Manning posted a career-high 66.0 completion percentage and seven-year high in Y/A (7.5), but he has a sub-4.0 TD% in back-to-back seasons. Replacing Odell Beckham with Golden Tate is not a one-for-one tradeoff and Manning has struggled (more than usual) without OBJ. At best, he's a low-end QB2 that could eventually lose his job at the most important time of the fantasy season.
Daniel Jones128.678.8925.94.443.349.433.80.1952.64
Dave Gettleman has talked about applying the Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers plan with Jones. Assuming that the Giants are out of the playoff hunt in December or sooner, however, it's difficult to envision a scenario where Jones doesn't make a few starts. Or as Pat Shurmur says, "[y]ou never know what is going to happen" in Week 1.

RUNNING BACKS

PlayerAtt.YardsTDRec.YardsTDPoints
Saquon Barkley299.81379.110.4977.6589.82.91277.29
The Giants ranked middle of the pack in total offense (17th) and scoring offense (16th), but Barkley was an absolute stud despite the mediocre offense. Leading the NFL in scrimmage yards, Barkley rushed for 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns and added 91 catches for 721 yards and four more touchdowns. Barkley is my top-ranked player across all formats.

Sterling Shepard688674.762.114.70.02116.85
Shepard set career highs in targets (107), receptions (66), yards (872) and Y/A (13.2) last season. With Odell Beckham now in Cleveland, Shepard should establish new career highs in catches, yards and touchdowns.
Golden Tate71788.14.263.115.50.03106.1
Traded midseason, Tate failed to reach the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in three seasons. Now with a new team, Tate and Shepard are the 1(a) and 1(b) options among the team's wide receivers. Both are solid WR3/flex options, but the offense clearly centers around Saquon Barkley and the quarterback situation is less than ideal.

Evan Engram59.9733.84.94000103.02
Even though Engram missed five games last season, he has been one of the best fantasy tight ends on a point-per-game basis in his first two NFL seasons. In terms of fantasy PPG, Engram has finished as the TE4 and TE7 in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Coincidentally, Engram returned from injury just in time for the four games that Odell Beckham missed last season and Engram totaled 22/320/1 with a minimum of 75 yards per game over that four-game span to close the season. Among tight ends, only George Kittle had more fantasy points during that stretch.

2018 Fantasy Football Projections: Detroit Lions

In addition to viewing our 2018 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

Below you will find our 2018 fantasy football projections for the Detroit Lions.

Quarterbacks

PlayerAtt.Comp.YardsTDINTRushYardsTDFLPoints
Matthew Stafford551.2363.24162271129121.80.72.4264.06
Interestingly enough, Stafford's lone Pro Bowl season (2014) was the last time that he finished outside the top-10 fantasy quarterbacks. Not counting that QB15 finish in 2014, Stafford has finished as a top-12 fantasy quarterback in the other six of the past seven seasons. Part of that consistent production is aided by his durability (no missed games over past seven seasons) and the team's reliance on the passing game, but he actually set a seven-year low in pass attempts (565) in 2017. Even so, Stafford threw for 4,446 yards, a four-year high, and 29 touchdowns, tied for the third-most in his career.

Running Backs

PlayerAtt.YardsTDRec.YardsTDFLPoints
Kerryon Johnson160.6706.64.328.7200.91.71.5123.75
Without a 100-yard rusher since Reggie Bush (2013, three times) and ranking last in rushing offense last year, the Lions traded up in the second round for Johnson. The SEC Offensive Player of the Year and conference rushing champion, Johnson rushed for 1,391 yards and scored 20 total touchdowns for Auburn last season. Ultimately, I expect Johnson to lead the backfield in production, but LeGarrette Blount will steal early-down work and goal-line opportunities while Theo Riddick will get plenty of work as the team's third-down back.
LeGarrette Blount131.6552.76.64.728.70.40.499.34
Set to play for his third team in as many seasons, Blount is two years removed from leading the NFL in rushing touchdowns (18). Even though the Eagles ranked third in scoring offense last year, Blount had just two rushing touchdowns last season. That said, Blount's 18 touchdowns in 2016 occurred with the Patriots, where new Lions head coach Matt Patricia was defensive coordinator.
Theo Riddick21.380.90.450.3417.53.30.670.84
With 50-plus catches in each of the past three seasons, Riddick has a total of 186 receptions during that span. Obviously, he has much more value in PPR formats.
Ameer Abdullah36.8150.90.97.855.40.40.727.03
Abdullah led Detroit's backfield last season with 190 touches (165 carries and 25 receptions). While his 53-man roster status was once in doubt (and perhaps still is), Abdullah's roster spot appears safe(r) but he could be fourth in terms of volume in 2018.

Wide Receivers

PlayerRec.YardsTDRushYardsTDFLPoints
Marvin Jones6010085.70000135
Posting an NFL-high 18.0 Y/R in 2017, Jones had 61 receptions for a career-high 1,101 yards and nine touchdowns, one shy of his career best, despite a slow start (8/130/2 in first four games). Jones finished as fantasy's WR5 (WR11 in PPR) and he was WR4 (WR7 in PPR) from Week 5 on.
Golden Tate86.2956.85.23.919.500.8127.23
The eight-year veteran has spent half of his career in Detroit and he has 90-plus catches in each of those four seasons. In addition, he has 1,000-plus yards in three of four including back-to-back seasons. His lack of touchdown production -- 19 over four years in Detroit -- is a drawback, but he's a consistent receiver that gets a boost in PPR formats.
Kenny Golladay48.8800.35.60000.1113.43
Golladay's best games as a rookie were his first (4/69/2) and his last (2/80/1), but he also missed five games in the middle of the season due to a hamstring injury. Even if a true breakout does not occur in 2018, Golladay has seen some reps in two-WR sets and Tate has said the following of the second-year receiver: "… I'm telling you, this guy can be dominant. He's a WR1 kind of guy."

The SEC Offensive Player of the Year and conference rushing champion, Johnson rushed for 1,391 yards and scored 20 total touchdowns for Auburn last season. Marvin Jones59.710035.70000134.5
Golden Tate87.39695.23.919.500.8128.45
The eight-year veteran has spent half of his career in Detroit and he has 90-plus catches in each of those four seasons. In addition, he has 1,000-plus yards in three of four including back-to-back seasons. His lack of touchdown production -- 19 over four years in Detroit -- is a drawback, but he's a consistent receiver that gets a boost in PPR formats.
Kenny Golladay48.1786.45.50000.1111.44
Golladay's best games were his first (4/69/2) and his last (2/80/1). Missing five games, the rookie totalled only 22/328/0 in his nine games from Weeks 2 to 16. A true breakout may not occur in 2018, but Tate said the following of the second-year receiver: "… I'm telling you, this guy can be dominant. He's a WR1 kind of guy."

2018 Fantasy Football Projections: Detroit Lions

In addition to viewing our 2018 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

Below you will find our 2018 fantasy football projections for the Detroit Lions.

Quarterbacks

Matthew Stafford557.2367.8415127.310.628.6120.10.72.4265.45

Kerryon Johnson186.7821.5629.8208.61.81.5146.81
Without a 100-yard rusher since Reggie Bush (2013, three times) and ranking last in rushing offense last year, the Lions traded up in the second round for Johnson. The SEC Offensive Player of the Year and conference rushing champion, Johnson rushed for 1,391 yards and scored 20 total touchdowns for Auburn last season and is the favorite to lead Detroit's backfield in workload and production in 2018.
LeGarrette Blount110.5464.15.64.326.20.30.483.63
Set to play for his third team in as many seasons, Blount is two years removed from leading the NFL in rushing touchdowns (18). Even though the Eagles ranked third in scoring offense last year, Blount had just two rushing touchdowns last season. It wouldn't surprise me if he led the team in rushing scores, but I expect well below double-digit touchdowns from the 250-pound back.
Theo Riddick19.172.60.449.44103.20.668.66
With 50-plus catches in each of the past three seasons, Riddick has a total of 186 receptions during that span. Obviously, he has much more value in PPR formats, but he should be left on the waiver wire outside of deep non-PPR leagues.
Ameer Abdullah29.7118.80.77.855.40.40.722.62
Abdullah led Detroit's backfield last season with 190 touches (165 carries and 25 receptions), but there's no guarantee that he's even on the final 53-man roster given the additions of Kerryon Johnson and LeGarrette Blount.
