Jalen Hurts: Hurts set career bests in passing — 66.5% completion, 8.0 Y/A, 4.8 TD%, 1.2 INT%, and 101.5 passer rating — in 2022. Despite his improvement as a passer, aided by the trade for A.J. Brown last offseason, it's especially the rushing production that makes him an elite fantasy quarterback. Over the past two seasons (30 games), the former Oklahoma (and Alabama) quarterback has rushed 304 times for 1,544 yards and 23 touchdowns. That's an equivalent to 9.75 fantasy points per game (from his rushing stats alone).

D'Andre Swift: There's a good chance that Swift leads Philadelphia's backfield in fantasy production, as long as he stays healthy, but he has missed a minimum of three games every season in his young career. Swift is one of the league's best receiving backs with an average of 3.9 receptions per game in his career. While he'll benefit from playing in a high-powered offense and behind an elite offense line, a drop in target share is likely with Jalen Hurts (165 carries in 2022) under center. Only Chicago's running backs had fewer receptions than Philadelphia's last season.

Rashaad Penny: Through five NFL seasons, Penny has missed nearly as many games (40) as he has played (42). When healthy, however, he has averaged 5.7 yards per carry over his career and an even-better 6.2 YPC over the past two seasons (176/1095/8). Aside from durability concerns, Penny hasn't been a factor in the passing game — 36 career targets in 42 games.

Kenneth Gainwell: The Eagles will employ a committee approach to their backfield, and it's even possible that Gainwell will lead the backfield in fantasy production without factoring in health. Given the durability history of Swift and Penny, however, there is the potential that Gainwell gets even more work than anticipated.

A.J. Brown: Brown shattered previous career highs in targets (145), receptions (88) and yards (1,496) last season and tied his career high in touchdowns (11) in his first season in Philadelphia. Even if he doesn't repeat as a top-five fantasy wide receiver, he's the 1A in this offense to Devonta Smith's 1B, and should be drafted as a top-10 receiver in 2023.

DeVonta Smith: Smith followed up a strong 2021 rookie season (64/916/5) with an even better sophomore campaign (95/1,196/7) despite the addition of A.J. Brown to the receiving corps. Brown was fantasy's WR5 (half-PPR scoring) in 2022, but Smith was also a top-10 performer last season.

Dallas Goedert: Goedert missed five games last season, but he still finished with 55 catches for 702 yards and three touchdowns. Despite the addition of A.J. Brown, Goedert's 58.5 YPG average was a career high and he had 60-plus yards in eight of 12 games. In addition, he had a minimum of three catches in all but one game last season.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2023 Fantasy Football Projections

Kenny Pickett: The Steelers went 7-5 in Pickett's starts, but he threw more interceptions (nine, 2.3%) than touchdowns (seven, 1.8%) in 2022. That said, eight of his nine interceptions were thrown in his first five games. Some breakout potential exists if he continues to build upon his late-season improvements in efficiency, however, and an impressive preseason (13-of-15 for 199 yards and two TDs for a perfect 158.3 passer rating) provides additional reason for optimism.

Najee Harris: While the touches (381 to 313), targets (94 to 53) and yards from scrimmage (1,667 to 1,263) all dropped year over year, Harris managed to play a full 17-game slate once again despite some worries about a Lisfranc injury before the start of the season. An improved offensive line and offense overall should help a healthy Harris, who was RB14 in half-PPR in 2022, but the main concern is how much will second-year UDFA Jaylen Warren eat into his workload?

Jaylen Warren: Warren had 105 touches for 593 yards and a touchdown in 2022 and finished as fantasy's RB51 (half-PPR scoring). The Athletic's Mark Kaboly wrote in June "[t]he way [Warren] attacks the hole during drills is something to be seen. ... there is no way [OC] Canada can keep him off the field as much as he did last season." Expected to earn more of a workload in 2023, Warren should outperform his ADP even if Harris does not miss any time and has top-15 upside if he does.

Diontae Johnson: For three consecutive seasons, Johnson has more than 85 catches and 140 targets and has led the team in receiving yards. Only four receivers — Davante Adams (498), Stefon Diggs (484), Justin Jefferson (476), and Tyreek Hill (464) — have more targets than Johnson (460) over that span. Despite scoring 15 touchdowns in the previous two seasons combined (2020-21), Johnson set the NFL record in 2022 for most receptions (86) without a touchdown. In other words, positive touchdown regression should be expected.

George Pickens: Among rookie wide receivers, only Atlanta's Drake London (866) had more yards than Pickens (801) in 2022. Pickens averaged 15.4 yards per catch and made a number of acrobatic highlight-reel catches throughout the year.

Pat Freiermuth: Freiermuth followed up a strong rookie season (60/497/7) with 63 catches for 732 yards and two touchdowns. Despite scoring only twice in 2022, Freiermuth finished as fantasy's TE8 (half-PPR scoring). He had at least three catches in 13 of 16 games played.

Kansas City Chiefs 2023 Fantasy Football Projections

Patrick Mahomes: Despite losing Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins, Mahomes didn't miss a beat and won his second NFL MVP award in 2022. He threw for 5,250 yards and 41 touchdowns, both of which led the NFL last season. While he doesn't have as much rushing upside as Josh Allen or Jalen Hurts, he has more than 300 rushing yards in three consecutive seasons and multiple rushing scores in five consecutive seasons.

Isiah Pacheco: Pacheco generated some buzz last August as a seventh-round rookie, and then he delivered for fantasy managers who drafted the sleeper. He finished his inaugural season with 170 carries for 830 yards (4.9 YPC) and five touchdowns and added 13 catches for 130 yards (10.0 Y/R). Sitting atop the 2023 depth chart, Pacheco has a chance to improve upon his rookie numbers.

Jerick McKinnon: McKinnon had nearly as many targets (71) as carries (72) last season, and he was extremely effective as a receiver. He ended the year with 56 catches for 512 yards (9.1 Y/R) and nine of his 10 touchdowns were receiving scores. While I have projected McKinnon for considerably fewer touchdowns in 2023, he could be a solid bye-week fill-in for fantasy squads, at a minimum.

Skyy Moore: Marquez Valdez-Scantling will have some spike weeks, but good luck predicting when those will occur, which make him a better option in best ball formats. Meanwhile, the variance of potential outcomes for Kadarius Toney may make fantasy managers hesitant on draft day. While he had a quiet rookie season (22/250/0 on 33 targets), Moore has emerged as the most likely candidate to lead Kansas City's receiving corps in fantasy production.

Kadarius Toney: The range of potential outcomes is wide enough that you may have seen Toney appear on both breakout and bust lists at some point heading into the 2023 season. Earlier this offseason, offensive coordinator Matt Nagy talked up Toney, who many had figured would step into the WR1 role vacated by JuJu Smith-Schuster. If he can (get and) stay healthy, it's certainly possible that he earns the second-most targets on the team behind Travis Kelce although it seems even more likely that it's someone else (e.g., Skyy Moore).

Rashee Rice: Even though though Skyy Moore had a limited role as a receiver in his rookie season, the draft capital used (55th overall pick) and strong preseason makes Rice worth being a target later in drafts. That said, his ADP has continued to rise.

Travis Kelce: While age (turns 34 in October) is still a potential concern, he's shown no signs of slowing down after posting his seventh consecutive 1,000-yard season. Without Tyreek Hill, he posted either his best or second-best numbers across the board — 152 targets, 110 receptions, 1,338 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Absolutely dominant compared to other tight ends, Kelce (15.4) averaged more than double the half-PPR fantasy points per game than the last TE1 (Dalton Schultz, TE12, 7.6 PPG). In fact, if Kelce were a wide receiver, he'd rank ahead of all but five wide receivers in fantasy PPG last season.

Denver Broncos 2023 Fantasy Football Projections

Russell Wilson: Wilson's debut season with the Broncos was a flop. He set career lows in completion percentage (60.5%), TDs/TD% (16, 3.3%) and passer rating (84.4). From Weeks 1 to 13, Wilson had only one top-12 weekly performance (Week 4), but he exceeded 24 fantasy points in three of his final four games in 2022. Transitioning to Sean Payton's offense improves optimism about Wilson's 2023 outlook (just ask Payton himself), but he is better drafted as a fantasy QB2.

Javonte Williams: Handling seven touches including four receptions in Week 2 of the preseason, Williams (knee) described getting tackled as "the biggest hurdle ... left with the whole recovery process." Returning to game action this quickly after tearing multiple ligaments is extremely impressive, to say the least. Through 21 career games, Williams has 250 carries for 1,107 yards (4.4 YPC, 52.7 YPG), 59 receptions for 392 yards and a total of seven touchdowns.

Samaje Perine: Perine is poised for a "significant role" in Denver's backfield throughout the season, and potentially an even more significant role in the early part of the season even though Williams won't miss any regular-season games to start the year. Sean Payton has a long history of giving substantial workloads to the team's second back.

Courtland Sutton: After missing nearly all of 2020, Sutton has appeared in 32 of 34 games over the past two seasons and has averaged 61/803/2 over that time. Like with Jeudy, Sutton should benefit from the offensive coaching upgrade. Given the number of injuries including to Jeudy (hamstring), it's possible that Sutton outscores all of Denver's receivers this season.

Jerry Jeudy: Jeudy set career highs in receptions (67), yards (972) and touchdowns (six) on 100 targets over 15 games in 2022. Jeudy had 53-plus yards in 10 of his final 11 games if we exclude Week 10 (when he played only one offensive snap). During that 11-game stretch, Jeudy posted a 60/842/5 line with a 72.3% catch rate and 10.14 yards per target. Given the offseason coaching change and Jeudy's production last season when healthy, he has the potential for even better numbers in 2023. Speaking of his health, however, Jeudy is dealing with a hamstring injury that could impact his early-season availability.

Marvin Mims: Tim Patrick missed all of 2022 with a torn ACL, and unfortunately he'll now miss all of 2023 with a torn Achilles. Meanwhile, the Broncos waived KJ Hamler with an NFI designation as he tends to a heart condition (pericarditis). Now Jeudy is dealing with a hamstring injury that could potentially sideline him to open the season. The unfortunate rash of injuries to the Broncos' wide receivers opens the door for Mims, the team's second-round pick, to immediately take on a large role within the passing offense.

Seattle Seahawks 2023 Fantasy Football Projections

Geno Smith: Vastly outperforming his 2022 ADP, Smith led the NFL in completion percentage (69.8%) while throwing for 4,282 yards, 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. A repeat top-five fantasy finish may be unlikely, but Smith is a viable QB1 type, especially with the Seahawks drafting Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the first round to complement their dynamic duo of D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. So, in other words, he's undervalued compared his ADP once again.

Kenneth Walker III: Walker rushed for 1,050 yards and nine touchdowns on 228 carries as a rookie. Expectations shot up following (Rashaad Penny's departure in) NFL free agency, but the Seahawks drafting a talented complement (Zach Charbonnet) in the second round should temper expectations. Walker finished 2022 as fantasy's RB16 in half-PPR scoring, and a similar level of production is most likely in 2023. Walker had been dealing with a groin injury, but he's returned to practicing in full.

Zach Charbonnet: The second-round pick was highly productive for the UCLA Bruins, and he has the skill set to be a foundation back. Unfortunately, Seattle is not an ideal landing spot for his 2023 fantasy outlook with Charbonnet expected to operate as the 1B to Walker's 1A in Seattle's ground attack. Given how much Pete Carroll would prefer to run the ball, however, there is a chance that he could approach stand-alone flex-level value even if Walker stays healthy for a full season.

D.K. Metcalf: Metcalf has a minimum of 900 receiving yards in all four of his NFL seasons. While he finished with only six touchdowns (despite ranking third in the NFL in red zone targets) last season, he had a combined 22 scores in the previous two seasons and he set career highs in targets (141) and receptions (90) in 2022.

Tyler Lockett: Lockett has exceeded 1,000 receiving yards in four consecutive seasons, and he has scored eight or more touchdowns in five consecutive seasons. Consistently outperforming his preseason ADP, Lockett has finished as fantasy's WR13 (2022), WR13 (2021), WR9 (2020), WR14 (2019) and WR15 (2018), respectively. While the team drafted Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the first round, it's likely that Lockett continues to exceed expectations.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba: While he lacks elite straight-line speed, Smith-Njigba posted combine-best performances in both the 3-cone (6.57 seconds) and 20-yard shuttle (3.93), and he's a polished route runner with outstanding ball skills and body control. He set the Big Ten receiving record in 2021 (1,606 yards) while playing alongside Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson, and ESPN's Dan Graziano has referred to him as a "legitimate sleeper candidate for Offensive Rookie of the Year." After undergoing wrist surgery, JSN returned to practice sooner than expected and now seems likely for Week 1.

Noah Fant: In his first season as a Seahawk, Fant finished the year with 50 catches for 486 yards and four touchdowns. It was his third-consecutive season with 50-plus catches and he tied a career high in touchdowns, but he set career lows in yards and yards per reception (9.7). Adding first-round rookie receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba could make it challenging for Fant and the team's tight ends to have fantasy-viable production.

Josh Allen: Fantasy managers know exactly what they're getting when they draft Allen, who has finished as fantasy's QB1, QB1 and QB2 over the past three seasons, respectively. Few quarterbacks have as much weekly upside and consistency as Allen. Last season, he finished as a top-six weekly QB in 12 of 16 games played and finished as a top-12 weekly quarterback in two more games.

James Cook: Cook was one of Buffalo's fantasy winners after the draft, as there was some projection that the Bills could target someone like Bijan Robinson if he slipped. (Of course, he didn't.) Heading into 2023 atop the depth chart, he'll split touches with veterans like Damien Harris and Latavius Murray, but he'll be in the (back-end) RB2 mix for fantasy managers this season. Offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey praised Cook's versatility and potential to be a "three-down back."

Damien Harris: Harris has been productive when given volume (1,061 YFS and 15 TDs in 2021). He signed a modest one-year contract, and he (and/or Latavius Murray) will be a TD-dependent option in fantasy leagues, when healthy.

Stefon Diggs: Since becoming a Bill, Diggs has posted the following stat lines — 127/1535/8 (2020), 103/1225/10 (2021) and 108/1429/11 (2022). During that same span, he has finished as fantasy's WR3, WR7 and WR4, respectively. Diggs has an extremely high floor as Josh Allen's go-to receiver within Buffalo's high-powered offense.

Gabe Davis: A popular name on 2022 breakout lists, Davis set (or tied) career highs in receptions (48), targets (93), yards (836) and touchdowns (seven) last season. And although he finished as fantasy's WR27, it's fair to say that many fantasy managers expected more. Davis failed to reach the 40-yard mark in eight of 15 regular-season games, and he scored only once in those eight modest performances.

Trent Sherfield: The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia wrote after the team's second preseason game, "[a]long with his versatility to play slot receiver or to allow Stefon Diggs to play in the slot, this is another fantastic sign that Sherfield's bid to be WR3 is legitimate." The Bills are Sherfield's fourth team in four seasons, but he posted career highs in his age-26 season with the Dolphins (30/417/2) last year.

Khalil Shakir: Instead of drafting a receiver at the end of Round 1, the Bills drafted tight end Dalton Kincaid. While Shakir may rank third in WR snaps behind Diggs and Davis, the presence of Kincaid (and more two-TE sets) could limit his ability to make a significant jump in his second season.

Dalton Kincaid: A lengthy adjustment period for rookie tight ends typically leads to modest fantasy impacts for the position. That said, Kincaid was arguably the most talented pass catcher (wide receiver or tight end) in the 2023 NFL Draft, so there is potential for him to be utilized more than a typical rookie tight end as a mismatch in the passing game.

Dawson Knox: Knox's 2022 numbers (48/517/6) were similar, albeit slightly less, than his 2021 production (49/587/9). It's unlikely that Knox will produce as a top-12 option in 2023, and his touchdown dependency is high given his relatively low volume. Knox exceeded 50 receiving yards in only three regular-season games last season.

Lamar Jackson: There is only one quarterback in NFL history with 25-plus passing touchdowns and 1,000-plus rushing yards in the same season, and that quarterback (Jackson) has done it twice. Of course, the biggest concern with Jackson is durability and the fact that he has missed five games in each of the past two seasons. With the Ravens bolstering their receiving corps by signing Odell Beckham Jr. and drafting Zay Flowers in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft and hiring Todd Monken to run the offense, the dual-threat quarterback has legitimate QB1 (overall) upside if he's able to stay healthy for a full season.

J.K. Dobbins: Dobbins has averaged a phenomenal 5.9 yards per carry, but he has played a total of 23 games through three seasons. (On a positive note, he's an extra year removed from a torn ACL that forced him to miss the entire 2021 season.) While Lamar Jackson's elite rushing threat can put tremendous strain on opposing defenses, the flip side is fewer targets and checkdowns to running backs as Dobbins has averaged only 1.39 targets and 1.09 receptions per game over his career.

Gus Edwards: The Ravens won't be as run-heavy as they have historically been, but Edwards has averaged 5.2 yards per carry on his 501 carries since entering the league in 2018. Especially if Dobbins were to miss any time, Edwards would have quite a bit of upside and immediately move into the RB2 range.

Zay Flowers: Flowers was ultra-productive for the Boston College Eagles despite poor quarterback play and opposing defenses knowing he was "the" guy. He gives Baltimore's offense a shot in the arm, and he has looked the part leading up to the start of the season.

Odell Beckham: Beckham Jr. started his career with three consecutive seasons of at least 90/1,300/10 and 1,000-plus yards in five of his first six seasons. That said, OBJ has a total of 856 receiving yards over the past three years, which includes none in 2022 as he recovered from his knee injury. Even if he leads Baltimore's receivers in fantasy production, the range between the team's WR1 and WR3 could be very narrow, as I project.

Rashod Bateman: Bateman has appeared in 18 (of 34 possible) career games, and he has posted a receiving line so far of 61/800/3. If he scored the fantasy equivalent of that line last season, he would have finished as fantasy's WR43 in half-PPR scoring. Add in more competition (Beckham and Flowers) and the likelihood of a Bateman breakout in 2023 is relatively low. In fact, I prefer Flowers and Beckham over Bateman.

Mark Andrews: Andrews missed a couple of games in 2022, and his year-over-year production declined to 73/847/5. Even so, Andrews scored the fourth-most half-PPR fantasy points (third on a PPG basis). The additions at wide receiver creates greater competition for targets, but he remains the clear top fantasy option in Baltimore's passing game.

Daniel Jones: Underrated as a runner, Jones had 120 carries for 720 yards and seven touchdowns last season after racking up 172/1,000/5 (5.8 YPC) rushing in his first three seasons (2019-21). The Giants have added several new pass catchers to the roster, which should help improve his anemic passing numbers (3.2 TD% and 6.8 Y/A in 2022). Jones, who finished as fantasy's QB9 in 2022, should be drafted as a fringe QB1.

Saquon Barkley: Barkley had missed at least three games in each of the previous three seasons, but he stayed healthy in 2022 and delivered for fantasy managers. Perhaps less involved as a receiver than expected, especially given the team's 2022 wide receiver woes, Barkley ended the year with 352 combined touches including 57 receptions, 1,650 YFS and 10 touchdowns.

Parris Campbell: Campbell appeared in only 15 games through his first three seasons, but he stayed healthy for a full 17-game season in 2022 as he finished the year with 63 receptions for 623 yards and three touchdowns. The former Colt is expected to start in the slot, and a repeat of last year's numbers are within reach.

Isaiah Hodgins: Signed off of Buffalo's practice squad in the middle of the season, Hodgins was productive for the WR-needy Giants in the second half last season after reuniting with Brian Daboll, his former offensive coordinator in Buffalo. The former sixth-rounder (2020) had 33/351/4 on 42 targets over eight games with the Giants. It wouldn't be a surprise if he led the Giants' receiving corps in receiving in 2023.

Darius Slayton: Slayton started slow (inactive Week 1 and 18 offensive snaps through Week 3), but he led the team in receiving yards (724) last season. Slayton averaged 15.7 yards per reception and he had half (14) of the team's 28 receptions of 20-plus yards in 2022. It's possible that Jalin Hyatt, the team's third-round pick, could leapfrog him on the depth chart by the end of the year.

Darren Waller: A couple of seasons removed from back-to-back 1,100-yard campaigns, Waller is clearly the top weapon in New York's passing attack. While he has been limited to only 20 games over the past two seasons, his 17-game pace is 71/895/4 during that stretch.

Ryan Tannehill: Tannehill missed five games in 2022 and averaged fewer than 14 fantasy points per game for the season. Even though he was a fringe top-12 weekly quarterback in five of 12 games, he had only one 20-point performance (20.02, Week 11) all season. With the addition of DeAndre Hopkins to the receiving corps, Tannehill may turn out to be undervalued for those in 2-QB or Super Flex formats.

Derrick Henry: The usual concerns — age, cumulative career workload, modest receiving numbers, etc. — apply to Henry, but he's guaranteed a massive workload, as long as he remains healthy. Henry set a career high in receptions (33) in 2022, but he actually averaged more receptions per game in 2021 (2.3) than 2022 (2.1). Despite the modest receiving totals, here are Henry's half-PPR scoring finishes on a points-per-game basis (min. 8G played) over the past four years: third in 2022 (17.9), first in 2021 (23.0), third in 2020 (20.2) and second (tied) in 2019 (19.0), respectively.

Tyjae Spears: The Titans used a top-100 (81st overall) on Spears, who was extremely productive for Tulane, and he's a worthwhile stash/handcuff late in drafts. Spears had an impressive preseason, ranking third in yards after contact per attempt (4.73) among running backs with at least 10 preseason carries, per PFF.

DeAndre Hopkins: Hopkins has missed a total of 15 games over the past two seasons due to either injury or suspension, and he joins the run-first Titans after being released by the Cardinals this offseason. In his nine games played last season, however, he averaged 10.7 targets per game and a 7.1/79.7/0.3 stat line.

Treylon Burks: Burks had a modest 33 catches for 444 yards and a touchdown in 11 games as a rookie last season. ESPN's Turron Davenport noted earlier this summer that Burks had a "noticeably leaner build" this year and he's "playing at a different speed from his rookie season." While I project a considerable jump in production, the Hopkins' signing and a recent knee injury (although he recently returned to practice) temper expectations.

Chigoziem Okonkwo: Okonkwo finished second on the team in receiving yards last year to Robert Woods, who is no longer on the roster. The rookie ended the year with 32 receptions for 450 yards (14.1 Y/R) and three touchdowns. There is some breakout potential (albeit less following the DeAndre Hopkins signing) heading into the athletic (4.52 40-yard dash) tight end's second year. Among tight ends with 30-plus targets in 2022, Okonkwo led the position in YAC per reception (7.8) and yards per route run (2.61), per PFF stats.
